Chapter 150

Sarah PoV

Chaos, it’s all become a bundle of chaos. We are in the thick of battle, and no one is listening to orders, they are all too absorbed in their own safety.

I can hear Drake and Dylan in my mind, ordering the warriors to go in certain directions and attack certain wolves, but most are too distracted to listen. It’s all falling apart.

If the warriors can’t listen to simple commands, how on earth do we expect to win? Fuck, this is all going wrong.

And the enemy know it; they can sense our disorganisation. They know we are scrambling for control of our own people, and they are using it to their advantage. They are attacking in groups against one or two wolves, cornering our men until they either submit or die.

More and more of our men are falling to their knees, feeling overwhelmed by the numbers we are facing, but I can’t let them give up. The more that lay down their claws, the more of a disadvantage we have.

I have to do something.

I turn to Jeremy, his eyes scanning the battlefield with the same look as me, he can see it all falling apart. He can see our men dying and kneeling to an enemy that won’t show them mercy, and I can in his eyes that he doesn’t know what to do, but I do.

I step closer to him, lowering my voice. “Don’t freak out, but I’m going in, I have no choice.” My tone is harsh, but I tug the bond we have, showing him, I am not afraid.

He nods, once, fast and stiff. “Go.” He says, “I won’t be far behind you, and neither will Matthew, we will protect your back while you fight.”

I smile, I didn’t expect him to agree, but then again, Jeremy has always been supportive of my decisions. Even when he didn’t agree with my choices.

He’s the perfect partner, he doesn’t undermine my authority, or tell me I am in over my head, he just supports me. No strings attached. Just pure love.

“If you see anyone struggling against multiple enemies, help them.” I order, my voice tight. “I can take care of myself, but some of these warriors haven’t seen battle before, they could get overwhelmed.”

He stares at me for a second, but eventually he agrees with another nod, I can tell he isn’t happy with the thought of leaving me alone, but he doesn’t argue.

“I’m coming through.” I send a mind-link to the entire crowd of warriors, most of them making room for me, even in the thick of battle.

They know that I am their best chance at walking away from this alive, I just hope that they’re right. I hope I can handle this many at once, because I’ve never had to do it before. Not to this scale.

I have the power, and I have the strength, but how long will it last before I exhaust myself?

I need to go as long as I can, I need to hold it as long as I can. My people are counting on me. My mates are counting on me.

I promised my children I would come back for them, and I meant every word, I just hope that I can keep my word to them. I’m not ready to die.

I’m not ready to give up.

I throw out my hands, taking a deep breath before I push forward my power to control the ground beneath my feet, I call upon it, moulding and moving the dirt. The ground trembles, and my warriors know exactly what that means as they step back, dodging attacks as they get out of harms way. They know the plan as much as I do. Probably more so as it was drilled into them.

“It’s the Queen!” one of the enemy shifter’s shouts, the panic in his voice making me smile.

More of them move back, stumbling as the ground shakes faster and wilder. The dirt starts breaking apart, parts of the ground sinking in on itself, the warriors around the area falling to the ground in heaps, and that’s when my men come in, slitting their throats with their claws.

I smile when the plan works perfectly, the enemy wolves realising what is happening seconds too late for them to prevent it. Some surrender, while others still try to fight against us. But most in the immediate area fall.

I almost feel bad for causing so much death, but they’d do the same to us if they had the chance, they tried to kill me and my daughter multiple times over the past few months, and I wont stand for that.

They deserve everything that is coming to them, and more.

“It’s working.” Someone to left says, his voice full of disbelief.

Some of my men surround me, ensuring the enemy can’t get to me to stop me from using my power. It shows their loyalty and their love, they weren’t told the guard me, but they are doing it anyway. They know that I need to concentrate and they are helping to make that possible.

I push out more power, ignoring the pain in my chest as rows more of the enemy drop to their knees, some falling down massive craters I’ve made in the earth. It won’t kill them, but they won’t be able to get out without help, and that is exactly what I needed to happen.

I have to take out as many as I can, whilst being careful not to hurt my own people. It’s harder than it sounds, my power can be unpredictable and trying to control it at this level is exhausting.

It’s like my own body is fighting against me, trying to stop me from doing what I need to do.

Jeremy comes up behind me, pressing his solid chest to my back, and whilst I won’t admit it out loud, it helps. It grounds me.

The ground under my feet becomes unsteady, but it doesn’t shake nearly as much as where the enemy are. I am slowly losing control, but I just need to hold it a little bit longer. If I can take down just a few more men, it’ll help.

Every warrior I immobilise is one step closer to victory.

“Breathe, princess.” Jeremy whispers in my ear, “you’ve got this, you are strong and capable.”

Matthew appears at my side, his eyes warm, “Come on, Luna, just a little longer.” He says, his voice encouraging.

Just a little longer, I can do that. I can hold it for a few more minutes.

I spot the twins near the craters, and a part of me panics, but they seem steady on their feet, they are ordering the enemy to surrender and those who don’t are dealt with swifty.

It looks like we are winning, but I won’t count all my eggs until they have hatched, something could still go wrong.

We can do this; we can beat them.

I just need to hold it for another minute.

Sixty seconds and the fighting can start again, and I can rest.

I’ve almost done my part, now it’s the warriors turn.
