Chapter 171 – Mafia No More

Chapter 171 – Mafia No More

Zander’s POV

I’m so proud of Isabella for standing up to Bryanna. When I first met Isabella, she was quite timid and shy. I must admit her sweet innocence absolutely enthralled me. Now, however, seeing my future wife stand up for herself, my dick is instantly hard. I stepped up close behind her, pushing my length into her, and I heard her gasp as Bryanna looked over her engagement ring.

“Congratulations,” Antonio said, a hint of a smile on his face.

“Thank you, Antonio,” I stated. “We are both very happy and can’t wait to get married. Looking forward to welcoming our twins as well.”

“When are you due?” Bryanna asked.

“July 9th,” Isabella answered, “but the doctor said I will be early due to having twins.”

“Bryanna is due July 7th,” Antonio beamed, then kissed Bryanna on the forehead. “We are thrilled for the arrival of our baby boy. Aren’t we, mia topolina?” (my little mouse)

I looked over at Isabella, and she smirked. I’ll have to ask her about it after.

“Yes, we are looking forward to our first child,” Bryanna answered.

“Our first of many,” Antonio grinned.

Bryanna looked like she was going to throw up.

“Well, we should find Mama before they make the big announcement about the merger,” Isabella stated.

“Sounds great,” Antonio expressed. “We’ll see you on the grand staircase in a bit.”

Isabella and I do a lap around the expansive living room. All these people can’t be part of the DeMarco family; they must be associates and members of the DeMarco mafia group. Some of them are probably Aventini mafia members as well.

“So, what happens when your Dad leaves the mafia?” I asked Isabella. “He’s probably going to need bodyguards, right?”

“Yes, he will,” Isabella advised. “Just like Nathan and Carrington have bodyguards. Money itself is enough to make them necessary.”

“I guess you’re right,” I replied. “What did Antonio call Bryanna that made you smirk?”

“He called her my little mouse,” Isabella smirked again. “Like he’s the Cat toying with the mouse.”

“Ah, I see,” I responded.

“Oh, look, there is Mama,” Isabella said, pointing. We walked towards Nina, who was speaking with someone who had their back to us.

“Vincento!” Isabella exclaimed as she stopped beside Nina.

“Isabella!” Vincento grinned, then kissed Isabella on both cheeks. “I’m so glad you could make it. You must be feeling a bit better.”

“I am still not 100%, but starting to mend,” Isabella replied.

“We haven’t officially met, since both of us were tied up,” Vincento chuckled. “I’m Vincento DeMarco, you must be Zander.” Vincento held out his hand.

“Nice to meet you, Vincento,” I said, smiling and reaching to shake his hand. “I also wanted to thank you for saving Isabella and our babies.”

“No thanks needed. I wanted to protect Isabella, so the babies were part of that equation,” Vincento declared.

“Still, I really do appreciate it,” I revealed.

There was a tapping of glass sound coming from the grand staircase, and everyone’s heads swivelled to the sound. On the staircase stood Pasquel DeMarco and Salvatore, both holding glasses of champagne.

“That’s our signal to head up the staircase,” Vincento advised. He ushered the three of us through the crowd and up the stairs. Candy, Antonio, and Bryanna also ascended the stairs.

“Welcome, everyone, to our home for the holiday celebrations. Thank you to my lovely wife, Candy, for all the work putting together the venue,” Don DeMarco grinned. The crowd clapped in approval. “This past year has been… interesting.” The crowd laughed. “In fact, it’s about to be a new year in a week, and it’s looking to be interesting as well. I want to introduce a man that, in all reality, everyone in attendance should already know who he is. Please welcome Don Aventini.”

There was a round of applause as Salvatore stepped forward.

“Thank you for the welcome,” Salvatore said, smiling. “In light of information brought to our attention in the last couple of weeks, as of January 1st, the Aventini Mafia group and the DeMarco Mafia group will be merging into one single group.”

There was an audible gasp from the crowd.

Salvatore continued. “It seems that my lineage is actually from the DeMarco line, not the Aventini’s. Don DeMarco and I are cousins. We have both spoken with the Mafia council in Italy to determine what we would each personally like to do about the merge. With this, I’d like to declare Don Pasquel DeMarco the official Don of the mafia familia.”

“What about our positions?” Someone yelled from the crowd.

“All people associated with both groups will merge into one, and no one will lose their jobs,” Salvatore explained. “However, you will now be given a choice on where you’d like to be. I am stepping permanently away from Mafia life.”

“What do you mean?” Someone else called.

“I have decided to concentrate on my legitimate corporations,” Salvatore addressed the question. “Both Don DeMarco and I will be meeting with each of you to see where you’d like to end up in the split.”

Don DeMarco stepped forward again. “With the discovery that Isabella Aventini is actually of the DeMarco bloodline, the wedding betrothal between the DeMarco familia and the Aventini familia has been nullified. The wedding, however, has not been cancelled. Instead, Antonio will be marrying Bryanna Charlton.”

Antonio stepped forward with Bryanna and raised their clasped hands in the air. A loud cheer erupted from the crowd.

“Now, please, everyone. Eat, drink, and be merry,” Don DeMarco grinned.

The music started, and a section of the living room was cleared for a dance floor.

“May I have this dance, bunny?” I asked Isabella.

“You certainly may, Mr. Cavanaugh,” Isabella said, smiling.

I led her down the stairs and onto the dance floor.

“This feels familiar,” I grinned. “Almost exactly three years ago.”

“Ah, yes, except I think Papa isn’t going to interrupt and get mad at you,” Isabella giggled.

“If he does, can I tell him to fuck off?” I joked.

“Remember, he is still the head of the mafia until December 31st at 11:59 pm,” Isabella advised.

“Note to self, don’t piss off Salvatore until the New Year,” I laughed.

“We should dance more,” Isabella noted. “I love dancing with you.”

“I love dancing with you because it reminds me,” I told her.

“Reminds you of what?” Isabella asked, puzzled.

“It reminds me of the day I fell for the mafia princess,” I said, with the biggest smile on my face humanly possible.
