Chapter 255: Peeling Shrimp

David smiled softly, like he knew exactly what Daisy was going to ask. He led her back into the house and pointed to a large, ornate box by the door. Slowly, he opened it to reveal its contents.

"I've been waiting for you to come back," David said, his eyes full of affection.

Daisy's eyes lit up instantly. She eagerly leaned in to see a beautifully crafted model of the solar system inside the box. The model featured the sun, moon, Earth, and other planets, all vividly colored and intricately detailed, as if they were truly orbiting in space.

"It's so beautiful!" Daisy exclaimed, holding the model with both hands, her face brimming with joy. "Thank you, David! I love it so much!"

David felt a wave of satisfaction seeing Daisy so happy. His gaze involuntarily drifted to Sophia. If they were still together, would they have a lively and adorable daughter like Daisy?

"Why are you looking at me like that?" Sophia couldn't stand David's gaze. "You still haven't explained why you're at Mr. Waverly's house!"

"Of course, I had business to discuss," David raised an eyebrow, not expecting to run into Sophia here.

Sophia had never shared her past with David, and he wasn't about to reveal his plans to her either. That was only fair, right?

While the two were still at odds, Daisy had already taken the model to the living room, chattering away to her mom, Alison, about all the astronomy facts she knew.

Alison finally noticed Sophia and Daisy had returned. She looked at Sophia and David standing at the door and called out, "What are you two doing standing there? Come in, dinner will be ready soon."

Sophia, seeing a savior in Alison, quickly went to her side, clinging to her arm and whining, "Alison, why is this guy here? The air's gotten so cold."

She even pretended to sneeze a few times.

"I'm catching a cold!"

Alison laughed warmly, playfully tapping Sophia's delicate nose. "You're so naughty! David is a guest invited by Wesley. They just finished their discussion, and since I knew you were coming today, I asked David to stay for dinner."

Alison had actually kept David for dinner because of her.

But she didn't want to see David!

Was it too late to leave now?

"If Ms. Brown doesn't want to see me, I should probably go," David said, noticing Sophia's frustrated expression and deliberately teasing her.

Alison quickly intervened, "Of course, she wants to see you. David, please stay for dinner." She then lightly tapped Sophia's forehead with her finger.

But she also felt sorry for Sophia, so the tap was gentle, making Sophia's forehead itch, causing her to laugh. In a good mood, she no longer minded David and went straight to the kitchen to help Alison with dinner.

"There's no need for you in the kitchen, go watch TV!"

"No way!" Sophia deliberately shouted to David, who was sitting on the couch with Daisy, looking at the model. "I'm an adult, I can't just eat without doing any work! I'm not disabled! I'm not that shameless!"

This was clearly meant for David to hear.

David couldn't sit still and walked into the kitchen, saying to Alison, "Alison, anything I can help with?"

"Do you need someone to teach you how to work?" Sophia stood protectively in front of Alison, hands on her hips. David, however, noticed Sophia's waist.

"Have you gained weight recently?" David measured her waist with his hands. "Your waist is thicker."

Sophia quickly stepped back. She didn't want to cause any trouble before leaving Harmony City, so she couldn't let anyone know she was pregnant. She slapped David's hand away from her stomach.

"Don't touch!"

"What are you afraid of? There's nothing I haven't touched before."

"David! Shut up!" Sophia covered David's mouth with her hand to stop him from talking. She nervously looked back and saw that Alison had returned to the stove to make soup, the sound of the exhaust fan covering their conversation.

David was stunned. He hadn't expected Sophia to stop him this way.

Sophia's hand was warm and soft, gently covering his lips, causing a subtle sensation. A floral scent wafted into his nose, making it itch.

"Promise you won't say anything else, and I'll let go!" Sophia whispered, sounding like an angry kitten.

David somewhat enjoyed having Sophia's hand over his mouth. He didn't really want her to let go.

David didn't respond, and Sophia thought he was refusing. Her hand remained on his mouth, bringing them closer together, creating a subtle, intimate atmosphere.

Sophia's heart began to race, the closeness making her feel embarrassed. Her cheeks flushed slightly, regretting how close she had gotten to him.

Seeing Sophia's slightly red face up close, David's breathing also quickened.

He could clearly see the fine hairs on Sophia's face. Sophia felt the skin under her hand getting hotter and quickly pulled her hand back, stepping back a bit.

David looked disappointed.

Alison, who was cooking, couldn't help but cover her mouth and laugh. She could tell that Sophia and David still had feelings for each other. What a pity, a loving couple, why did they get divorced?

No, she had to help them.

"Dinner's ready. David, could you go to the study and call Wesley for dinner?"

Soon, Wesley, wearing thick glasses, came out of the study with his dentures. He smiled and handed Sophia a physics paper, habitually quizzing her, "Take a look, any thoughts?"

Sophia took the paper, but before she could read it, Alison, wearing an apron and holding a spatula, snatched it away.

"Are you going to let Sophia eat or not? Look how thin she's gotten! Discuss it after dinner!" Alison pushed a plate of shrimp in front of Sophia. "Here, Sophia, your favorite."

Sophia was about to pick up a shrimp with her fork when Alison pressed her hand down.

Sophia looked at Alison in confusion, only to see her staring at David.

"David, Sophia loves shrimp, but she doesn't like peeling them."

David smiled, "No problem, I like peeling."
