Chapter 239: Rowan
"Brat, did you miss me?" Madison and Wesley watched as the old man cracked jokes with his grandson without a care of his image. Wesley's lips twitched at the sight. Would it kill if the man became a little nicer to him? The only thing he knew was to bully him.
"Grandpa, where are you?" The little guy asked. It was rare for his grandpa to disappear without notice.
"Oh, I'm with your sister right now." The old man said with a smile.
Sister?
"Then could you at least switch to video call? I would like to see her." The guy said. The little guy's name was Rowan. He almost begged his grandpa.
"Sure, sure." The old man agreed and pointed the camera towards Madison and Wesley. The two could only wave with smiles on their faces. What else could they do in such a situation.
When Rowan saw his overly beautiful sister, he couldn't help but suddenly miss her.
"Sister is beautiful. Grandpa, when will you let me meet her?" Rowan couldn't help but ask. Anyone around could hear the yearning in his voice.
"I'll talk to your sister first. If she's okay, you can come over for the weekend. I'll let you know." After talking for a while more, the old man hung up, cleaned his hands, and went back to eating. He was not full yet, so how could he let the food go to waste? He was also an advocate of not wasting food. He couldn't allow that to happen.
So Madison and Wesley watched as the old man wolfed down his food. His movements were so elegant and addictive.
As soon as Madison was done having dinner, Wesley passed her the medicine that had been prescribed by the doctor. When Madison saw the medicine, she scrunched up her face. She hated medicine, and everyone knew that. But since it was all for her own good and since Wesley couldn't bear to see her sick, she reluctantly took the medicine.
The old man guffawed when he saw this. He thought she had stopped the habit, but it seemed to be the opposite. Her distaste seemed to have improved by a higher notch rather? He could still remember when she would hide by his side whenever medicine was involved. She looked so cute back then. She still looked cute even at the moment. The old man was always proud of his genes. Everyone had the looks that belonged to him and his wife when they were still young. How could he not show off such?
After dinner, the three went to the living room to watch the news. The old man glanced at the relaxed Madison and decided against telling her the truth at that moment. He didn't want to dampen the atmosphere. The three of them chatted and laughed about random stuff, and this made the living room appear especially warm. Everyone was affected by the atmosphere, and they would smile from time to time. It was quite different from what they were used to.
The old man also laughed heartily. He couldn't remember the last time he laughed so genuinely. It had been ages. Way before the horrifying incident happened back then. As the two were having the time of their lives, Wesley's phone suddenly rang. After picking up and listening to the contents, his brows furrowed. It definitely wasn’t a good thing.
"Grandpa, Maddy, I'm sorry but I have to rush to the company." Wesley said and picked up his suit jacket before bidding them farewell.
