Chapter 314 Visiting the Laboratory
Chapter 314 Visiting the Laboratory
Alexander slipped into the back seat and quickly changed his clothes. When he emerged, Felix barely recognized him. The once chubby, green-haired recluse had transformed into a fair-skinned, slim, and handsome young man, now sporting gold-rimmed glasses.
"You're here. Stick with me today, alright? We’ve got a lot to handle, so don’t wander off," Felix said, his tone serious. Alexander didn’t mind. As a security officer, his outfit completely concealed his identity.
Each security member carried an ID chip, and here, the chip was what mattered, not the face. This anonymity worked in Felix’s favor.
Alexander stayed silent until the royal convoy arrived at the gate. The security team moved to greet them, and Felix shot a glance at Alexander.
"Come on, follow me!"
Alexander trailed behind him, and through his sunglasses, he finally saw Allison, the woman he had been longing to see.
"Ms. Bennett, this is Aldric Duskbane, head of our medical lab. He'll be showing you around," Euphemia Wintercrest said as she introduced Allison to the newly slimmed-down Felix. Allison looked at him, barely suppressing a laugh, and pressed her tongue against her cheek.
Felix stood nervously, his posture stiff. Allison, dressed casually, still looked much thinner to Alexander.
"Thanks, Mr. Duskbane. Let’s see what you’ve got!" Allison said with a playful tone.
Felix nodded and led her inside, with Alexander close behind. The lab was vast, with twelve different sections on the first floor alone. Allison smirked, sensing some drama ahead.
"No need to show me the regular labs; that’s a waste of time. Mr. Duskbane, take me to the top floor."
Felix hesitated and glanced at Byron, who remained expressionless. Feeling troubled, Felix said, "I can’t take you there without the Prime Minister’s authorization."
Allison didn’t get angry. She stood her ground.
"If we don’t go to the top floor, this tour is pointless. Mr. Yue, let’s head back."
She turned to leave, but Byron quickly blocked her path.
"Ms. Bennett, this will only anger the Prime Minister, and that won’t do you any good."
"Are you threatening me?" Allison asked, her voice sharp. Alexander instinctively moved to stand behind her. Felix was nearly panicking, thinking this could end badly if they angered the Prime Minister.
"I wouldn’t dare. This is for your own good, Ms. Bennett."
Allison, tired of the back-and-forth, reached out to Byron.
"Give me your phone. I’ll call the Prime Minister myself since your words don’t seem to matter."
Byron hesitated, but then his phone rang. After a brief conversation, he hung up.
"Take Ms. Bennett to the top floor. The Prime Minister is already waiting there."
Allison smirked triumphantly, nearly making Felix curse. This woman was infuriating, but he didn’t dare do anything to her. Instead, he shot Alexander a glare, as if to say, "This is all your fault."
Alexander kept his cool, maintaining his silent role as he followed Felix and Allison to the elevator.
Inside, it was just Allison, Felix, Byron, and two bodyguards. Alexander stood close to Allison, subtly shielding her with his body and gently hooking her finger with his.
Allison was momentarily surprised, but the familiar touch of Alexander's presence reassured her. This man was bold, daring to venture into such a dangerous place.
She smiled, thinking this was the man she trusted with her life. She never had to worry if he would come to her rescue in danger, just as she would risk everything for him.
So, Allison playfully hooked Alexander's palm with her finger, feeling his restraint, her eyes full of mischief.
Felix, fuming, pretended to lose his balance and bumped into Allison.
"Sorry, Ms. Bennett, I lost my balance."
Allison wanted to kick him, this scheming man.
Soon, the elevator doors opened, and Alexander stepped aside to let Allison out. Byron exited first, with Bernard waiting at the door.
Allison maintained her nonchalant demeanor as Bernard, wearing glasses, scrutinized her from head to toe.
"Ms. Bennett, since you're so eager to see the top floor lab, I'll satisfy your curiosity. But this is the most confidential part of our country. You should know the consequences of leaking any secrets better than I do."
Allison nodded. "Of course, I'm not interested in your secrets. But I have my principles. If the test subjects are human, then there's no need to go in."
Bernard smirked sinisterly and led the way. The top floor labs were fully enclosed, and from the outside, one could see the experiments. With just one glance, Allison could determine the nature of the experiments until...
At the fifth lab from the elevator, filled with colorful rays, Allison stopped abruptly.
"Space rays? I didn't expect your technology to be this advanced! Genesis Creations is working on similar experiments, but not as many categories. It seems you have black goldstone. However, the Prime Minister might not know that the black goldstone is unstable and has reached its limit. Your lab is about to explode... boom!"
As Allison finished speaking, the lab indeed exploded. This was awkward. Allison sniffed.
"If I say it's a coincidence, would you believe me?"
Fortunately, the lab's glass was explosion-proof, so it didn't affect the outside. Allison patted her chest.
"Wow, that was scary!"
Bernard's mouth twitched, wanting to strangle the woman in front of him, but he held back.
Felix was internally cursing but had to hold it in. Allison smirked and continued the tour, her frown deepening with each step. She finally used a very diplomatic phrase.
"Prime Minister, I think these experiments should be stopped. Continuing them is a waste of money. Instead, give the money to me, and I can transfer a few patents that are definitely better. Think about it!"
Felix couldn't hold back anymore and slipped to the back of the group, covering his mouth to stifle his laughter.
Alexander remained behind Allison, while Bernard was on the verge of losing it.
"Allison, don't be so arrogant!"
