Chapter 152 - Back To New York

(Freya's POV).

One week later, we decided to return to New York. I felt sorry for Devan who had to leave his job. I ended up moving into the new house that he bought. I had told Devan that I wanted to live alone with Adam first, but he insisted and said that we were a couple.

"Isn't there anything else you need?" Devan asked. He wrapped his arms around my waist and looked at me with his love-filled eyes.

I shook my head. Feeling like I'd had enough of everything. "If I need anything, I'll let you know," I told him.

"Okay." He kissed my forehead and looked back at me. "About your name. Do you want to continue using Vivian's name? I mean, you..."

"You want me to take my name again?" I asked, cutting his off.

"Yes, if you don't mind. As I said, we are still in a marriage and we are not divorced. I want us to go back to the way we were and start everything all over again." I closed my eyes as he swept my hair behind my ear.

"In that case, I will also discuss this matter with Tristan. I feel guilty about constantly using Vivian's identity. So, maybe the best thing for me is to live as Freya again," I said with my voice slowing down.

I would feel more comfortable if I left Vivian's name in peace. And there wouldn't be any issues about Vivian's family not liking me. I can still get on well with Tristan even though we're not family anymore. This is what's best for us.

"Do you need company when you meet him?" Devan asked.

"No, I don't. Besides, I haven't seen him since we returned to New York either. Is that okay?" I noticed Devan's reaction when I said I wanted to see Tristan alone.

"Even though I don't like it, I can't refuse you," he said.

I chuckled. "Didn't you guys make up?"

"Yes, but still. I don't like seeing you alone with other men. Especially without my supervision. Don't you realize your charm makes all the men glance at you? Even at the airport, there was a guy who asked for your name and phone number," Devan growled as he pressed his forehead against mine.

I couldn't help but smile at the memory. Devan was furious and cursed at the man who tried to approach me when he had just returned from buying food for me.

"I feel like beating him up again if I remember," he whispered.

I pushed Devan's body away and smacked his lips. "No matter how many men are out there trying to get close to me. You're still number one to me," I said with an embarrassed smile. I tried to hide my blush, but it seemed impossible to do.

"Oh, Fey. When did you learn how to tease like this?" he whispered against my lips. He pulled me by the waist and kissed my lips a few more times. Our lips were wet and swollen.

"It's time for breakfast," I said as soon as he broke the kiss. "I'm going to check on Adam in his room."

"Alright. I'll wait at the dining table." Devan kissed my forehead before he really let go of me.

I went straight to Adam's room. He had better be awake because earlier I had tried to wake him up and told him to shower and dress himself. I still had to find another school that suited him and thought I might look at the closest one to home.

"Adam," I called as I entered his room.

"Mom!" he exclaimed as he ran towards me.

I knelt to receive her hug. "Wow, look who can already bathe and dress themselves," I said. I complimented him while kissing his lips. "Good boy."

"Uncle Aiden and Daddy have taught me many times, so I can do it without any trouble! Are you proud of me, Mom?"

I smiled at how cheerful he was when he spoke. "Yes, I'm very proud of you, Adam. Are you very happy because your Daddy was here with us?"

He played with his lips as he looked at me with teary eyes. "Of course, I like having Dad with us. Mom is so sad all the time that I can't bear to ask you about him. But I know one day he will come back to us. Mom... you can't cry anymore because Dad is with us, okay?" he covered my face.

I was stunned by his words. My heart was squeezed and I tried not to cry. How could a child like him be so sensitive to his surroundings? He even thought about my feelings and acted so maturely at a young age.

"Adam, my sweetheart," I whispered. I kissed Adam's forehead with my abundant affection. "Mommy won't cry anymore. We'll stick together with Dad until whenever."

And I will continue to defend this family no matter what. Since I earned them with great difficulty, I will protect them with my life.

"Come on, it's time to have breakfast together. Your Daddy is waiting at the dining table," I told him.

I stood up and led Adam out of the room. We descended the stairs together and walked to the dining room. Devan was busy with his cell phone while enjoying his morning coffee.

"Daddy!" Adam exclaimed cheerfully. He ran straight to Devan.

Devan immediately put down his cell phone and picked Adam up.

"Hello, Buddy! How did you sleep tonight? Was it good?" He kissed Adam's cheek several times. It was a beautiful sight.

"Yes! The room is very spacious and I love all the games you bought me! Can we get Uncle Aiden to come and stay at the house? I want to play with him again," Adam said.

"Of course, you can. I'll call Aiden and tell him that you want him to come to the house."

"Yeay! Thanks, Dad!" Excited Adam with his cheerful face.

I chuckled at how indulgent Adam was to Devan. Tristan used to spoil Adam a lot, but Adam felt uncomfortable and thought Tristan would scold him for little things. And I am so grateful that we have become a family again.
