(Freya's POV).
"I was just asking," Devan said indifferently. He kissed the top of my head. "I'll bring all the food out. You take care of our guests," he said as he walked away from me.
"Harry, please ignore him," I said to him. He looked uncomfortable with Devan's attitude.
"It's okay. I'm getting used to it," Harry said.
"Come on, I've prepared the place for our party."
"I'll get the wine bottle!" exclaimed Aiden, who immediately ran towards the kitchen.
I immediately grabbed Stella and Harry. Taking them to the outside of the penthouse. We sat on the chairs that Devan had set up earlier by the pool. There was a grill in the corner and Aiden was the one who would grill the meat for us.
"Freya, how much did Devan spend on this penthouse? You guys don't even live here forever, but he set it up, especially for you and Adam," Stella said. She was so amazed by the penthouse that Devan had bought.
"I don't know either," I told her.
"Did you leave Adam with his grandparents?" Harry asked while looking at me.
"Yes, Devan drove him. They're going back to New York this weekend, so I've also decided that Adam should spend more time with his grandparents," I informed him.
"I'm going to miss Adam a lot," Harry said.
"After you graduate, why don't you come to New York to work?" I asked Harry.
"I can recommend you to the company you want."
I immediately looked back as I saw Devan coming out with a tray full of meat that I had prepared. I was surprised by what he said because I thought that Devan was still jealous of Harry.
"I meant what I said," Devan said as he glanced sharply at Harry.
Harry looked back at him. "Then I won't hesitate," he said casually.
"I thought your relationship wasn't good?" I asked with a confused expression. Even Devan's demeanor when they came over seemed rude.
"Fey, I'm not that petty. I told you, I was just asking," he said defensively.
Harry chuckled. "We've solved our problems, Freya. And men are more sociable than women. We've been fine," he explained.
"Oh, really?" I asked incredulously. It seemed like I was worrying too much about something that wasn't important. But I'm very grateful that Devan and Harry are no longer fighting.
"Is he Devan's brother?" asked Stella while pointing at Aiden who was busy at the grill.
"Yes, he is. His name is Aiden. Didn't I tell you about him?" I asked.
"He's more handsome than I imagined. Looks like he has the Devan family genes. They all look like princes," Stella commented. She immediately blushed when I caught Aiden glancing at us and Stella was secretly watching him. "Oh, shit. He's really handsome," she admitted.
"Stella, stop looking for handsome men. Not all good-looking guys are good, you know?" Harry said.
"Jeez... it's none of my business who you date. You're not my father anyway, Harry," Stella snapped.
I just chuckled as I observed them arguing with each other. Devan sat next to me and wrapped his arm around my waist. He looked comfortable even though he had only met Stella and Harry a few times.
"What are your plans after college, Harry?" Devan asked, suddenly.
"Well, finding a job, of course," he said honestly.
"I mean what I say. Come to New York and I will give you the best job I have. You won't be disappointed."
I stared at Devand in amazement. I wondered if he was the Devan I knew all along. Because he looks hot and mature. In the past, maybe Devan would be very strict with all the men who tried to get close to me. Even my boyfriend once got beat up by Devan just for chatting with me and accidentally hugging me. It was during our college days and his attitude was so reckless.
That night, we talked about a lot of things. We also played some games with penalties for losing. Everyone seemed to enjoy the evening and I was very happy that Devan did too.
It will be a memory that I will never forget. I hope to keep in touch with Harry and Stella even though it will be difficult for us to see each other again.
I was so excited that I couldn't remember how much alcohol I had drunk. My head started to spin and I just rested my head on Devan's shoulder the whole time while they were still playing cards.
"Are you okay?" asked Devan.
I looked up to look at him. He touched my chin and kissed my lips.
"Should I carry you to your room to rest?" he offered.
I shook my head. "I still want to be here," I said in a low voice.
"Tell me if you want to carry you," he whispered in my face.
I just nodded and closed my eyes again. My hands were busy wrapping around his arms. Now and then I opened my eyes and looked at the cards in Devan's hand. I had no idea that he was good at playing cards.
"Dev," I called as I played with his fingers.
"Hm. What is it, my love? Do you want to go to your room?" he asked gently.
Gosh, Devan really treated me like a queen with his gentle and caring attitude towards me.
"You'd better go to your room. My eyes are almost hurting from all the time I've been looking at your lovemaking," Aiden protested. I blinked at Aiden who had a frowning face. "I'll take care of them. It's late and they're already drunk anyway. They should sleep here. Is that okay?" he asked.
"Then I'll leave them to you, Aiden," Devan said.
I felt my body being carried easily by Devan. I blinked a few times to make my vision not blurry. I wrapped my arms around his neck and let Devan pick me up and carry me into the house.
"Dev," I called.
He stopped and looked at me. "Yes, my love?"
"I love you. Love you so much," I whispered. I felt my body heat up, even my cheeks felt like they were on fire.
"Fuck, baby," he growled, "you're really driving me crazy."
