Chapter 12: Twelve
ELARA'S POV
I spent enough of my time wasting it in the room in tears. What else do I have to expect from myself, I mean so many people in my shoes will do the same.
I looked at my face in the mirror, there were lots of things that could be seen in the face.
I had so many things to deal with, Liam, my babies, and now I have to try the company...
If everything is taken away from me, then I guess Liam is the cause of all these and he won't go scot free for doing that to me.
"I just have to give it a try first. My comfort zone is not where I would do my findings." I said that to encourage myself.
The maids had prepared my delicious breakfast already but I wasn't going to eat it. I was more engrossed with what I will face out there and not the food.
"You can keep that until I am back. And please do not let anyone into my home, no information about my whereabouts should be given, not even about my existence." I warned her.
I was fierce with my warning because I do not want to be found by anyone. It would be better if no one knew I existed.
"Yes ma'am." She nodded her head.
"It is not about the nodding, I need to be sure that I am cleared. If anything otherwise happens, I don't care how. You will lose your job and dealt with severely"
That was enough for her to behave properly...
I do not want to be recognized easily, so I put on the most unattractive and dull gown.
I had a scarf around my neck and hair, I put on my shades and a hat.
I made sure that no one noticed me, I hate to be the attraction of attention, now.
I drove away. When I got to the company everything looked strange to me.
5 years away from the company and I can't wrap my head around what I am seeing.
I took a deep breath and walked out of the car.
"Don't overreact, Elara." I warned myself as I walked into the company.
What the fuck!!!
Everything has changed, I don't expect everything to be the same after 5 years but this.....
Nah, I don't expect this.
Majority of the workers that my father had were no longer there. New workers that don't seem to meet my standards.
"How may we help you ma'am?" A voice from behind interrupted me.
I immediately changed my accent and tried so hard to speak differently. She looks so much like someone that had worked with us for a long time.
"Umm.... I'm here to meet the manager. There are things we have to settle. Now." I sounded authoritative for a moment..
"Sorry about that..." I smiled sheepishly even if it couldn't be seen.
"It's fine ma'am. I understand it's urgent, this way." She led me to an office.
That used to be my office whenever I came to check on my dad.
Memories took me away and I almost lost control.
"You can come in now." She led me into the office.
I saw this bossy looking man, he spun the chair and faced me.
"Yes, please, how may I help you?" He squinted his eyes to see me better.
I brought my eyes down to avoid recognition, even if she doesn't know me. The resemblance would definitely bring hints.
"I am...." I paused immediately and calculated my words.
They mustn't know that I am the one.
"Are you...." He looked around.
The word that was coming after that wasn't proper. His gaze was fixed on my life . He was going to take my life along with him.
"Elara's parents." I just got straight to the point.
"Yeah I know this is the company. What about her?" He asked, looking unconcerned.
This alone was a sign to me that it would be unsuccessful, I still tried my luck out.
"Now that her parents are dead. The company should be given to her, as she is the rightful heir to his property. The only child." I spoke out boldly. My eyes were up already.
I had not realized that until I finished talking.
He smirked and leaned forward. His elbows were on the table.
Immediately I put my eyes down.
"Where the fuck is Elara to claim the Company? It has been given to the rightful owner, har husband. She can sort out things with him and share them. I don't have a business with that, it has been sealed. The company is given to her husband." He narrated and continued with the work he had on the table.
My heart sank, I could feel the urge to take out my scarf and let him know I'm ELARA.
I was insulted right in my dad's company, that son of a bitch cake after my property.
There was silence in the room as I was trying to wrap my head around the nonsense he just insinuated.
"Wait a minute. Who are you to speak for her? Are you in any way related to them?"
Yeah, that is something someone would ponder about.
"Her best friend." I cut in sharply.
To avoid more questions I walked out of the office...
Liam is never going to take my father's company from me. If he does that, it won't last for a long time.
"What else does he want from me? My life?" I hopped into the car and drove away angrily.
Stumping out of the office I could see how eyes were on me. They definitely sensed something was wrong, the nosey one began to whisper things.
Back home I want to call Victor and vent to him but then I don't want to bother him with these things.
He mustn't see the way I am all the time.
"What is giving me the assurance that he wouldn't support Liam, his best friend in everything?"
This question came into my head and sat there thinking of it.
I don't have to trust him easily or do I??
