Chapter 265 145| Potent Barrier.

VIOLET

Lila had a grim look on her face as she spoke, “Every witch has their own special ability. And Nina, it seems her special power is the ability to take the form of another person.”

Daisy’s mom and Daisy gasped in shock at the revelation.

“What do you mean? Explain better,” the Northern King groaned.

“Nina is Zara. She had killed whoever had that face and stole the face and possibly her identity. Zara is who we have been looking for all along,” she explained.

I widened my eyes in shock. “She has been so close all along.”

“The best way to hide is to stay close to your enemy,” Lila shook her head and gritted her teeth. “That bitch.”

“Now that we know the skin she’s hiding in, what’s the way forward? How do we find her?” the Northern Queen questioned.

“She’ll definitely not return to the academy. And I’ve tried location spells so many times, but they didn’t work,” she sighed exasperatedly. “I am equally as lost as you all here. I don’t know how to find her.”

“What if we use any of her belongings?” I asked. “Would it give a better result?”

“Knowing she has been busted, I am sure she’s smart enough to have cleared out everything of hers in the academy,” she said.

“No. I am not talking about that.” I dipped my hand in my pocket and tugged something out. “How about this? Would it work?”

After Daisy found me in the woods, before Zara tossed me aside to fight her, I managed to pluck out a chunk of her hair.

“Genius!” A wide smile spread across Lila’s face. “You have a thing for keeping souvenirs, same way you took my hair band.”

She was next to me the next second and tried to snatch the hair from my hand.

But I pulled my hand back, a hard frown forming on my face.

“What?” Her brows furrowed.

I didn’t say anything as I continued staring at her intently.

She folded her arms across her chest. “You better start talking or I’ll take that from you forcefully.”

“How are we sure that we can trust you? How are we sure that you are not working in her favor?” I blurted out.

She let out a snort. “Now, why would I help her?”

“She’s your twin sister.”

“That I have always hated. We might have the same blood running through us, but we don’t share that bond. I will never do anything in her favor. Now give me the fucking hair!” she groaned as she reached for the hair.

“No!” I retorted, jumping backward so she couldn’t reach it.

“She’s telling the truth, Violet,” Daisy’s mom suddenly said, and I snapped my gaze at her. “She’s with us, not against us.”

Then she walked closer to me and collected the strands of hair. Turning around, she muttered, “Daisy, Lila. Let’s get to work.”

The three of them gathered around, seated with a map in front of them, while the rest of us observed.

They started chanting some incantations, their voices growing louder by the second. After a while, the hair and the map suddenly caught fire, burning into ashes right before our eyes.

The three of them gasped loudly as they watched this.

“What happened?” Daisy’s father quickly asked.

“There’s a potent barrier surrounding them. Lila and the kidnapped girls,” Lila muttered.

“Where?” he groaned.

She shook her head. “It turned to ashes before we could figure that out.”

The Alpha King growled in frustration as he paced around. “What else can we do? We have to find her!”

“I could try something,” Daisy suddenly said, and we all turned our attention to her.

“What?” her mom asked her.

“I’m not sure it would work but...”

She placed her hands over the ruins of the map and hair on the floor and chanted something. After a while, the ashes started molding back to their original form, the map and hair reappearing on the floor.

“I had always known that this one was special,” Lila smirked.

The rest of us looked at Daisy with shock and pride. I had always known that witches had insane magic, but I never knew something that had burnt to ashes  could be molded back to its original form.

The three of them got to work, chanting spells with their eyes rolled behind their heads. After a few more minutes, the map and hair suddenly caught fire again, burning to ashes.

My heart pounded hard against my chest, my eyes glued on them as I waited for what they’d say.

Daisy’s mom turned to look at the Alpha King, a deep frown forming on her face. “She’s been hiding in plain sight all along.”

He raised his brow. “And where is that?”

“The Equinox Academy,” she revealed, and gasps echoed through the room.

“How? Where?” the Luna Queen asked.

“In the woods. But there’s a strong spell barrier around her and the kids. She made it so that no one would be able to find that place no matter how much the woods are rounded,” she said.

“Does that mean even as we know where she is now, it’ll still be difficult to locate the exact place she is?” Axel asked.

“Yes,” she said.

Axel turned to look at Daisy. “Remember when we were searching for my phone, you used your magic to feel for metals and that’s how you were able to find it. What if you feel for magic within the woods? Would finding her be possible then?”

“Let’s try that!” Daisy said, determination in her eyes as she leapt to her feet.
