Chapter 22
I responded, "His fate was sealed. He was meant to perish that night. I understand the pain it brings you, knowing that he was abruptly taken away. However, we are powerless to change the situation.
Despite our countless questions about the reasons behind it, we cannot reclaim what we have lost."
I witnessed the horrifying sight of my parents being beheaded. The shock jolted me awake from that terrible nightmare. To my surprise, Alpha Damien stood before me, and without thinking, I slapped him with all my might. He was taken aback by my reaction. My body trembled, drenched in sweat.
"Are you alright? Did you have a nightmare?" he asked, concern evident in his voice.
"Why are you here?!" I demanded firmly.
"I'm sorry. I knocked for a while, but you didn't answer. Since the door was open, I entered and found you sleeping," he explained.
"I was sleeping, wasn't I? Why are you disturbing me?" I snapped, annoyed.
"I apologize. I didn't mean to," he apologized.
I held my breath, taken aback when he suddenly embraced me. Anger surged within me as I recalled the nightmare. I wanted to end everything by killing him on the spot. But deep down, I knew it wasn't the right thing to do.
My fists clenched tightly, fueled by rage. I longed to inflict pain upon him repeatedly. The thought of the man who embraced me being the one who mercilessly slaughtered my family disgusted me. He needed to suffer and pay for his actions. So, instead of killing him, I decided to torture him and make his life miserable alongside mine.
I vowed to manipulate him until he lost his sanity, watching him suffer until his demise.
I promised myself that he would endure misery.
As he released me from his embrace, we locked eyes, and I immediately regretted my previous words.
"I'm sorry, Alpha. I shouldn't have reacted that way. It was just a terrible dream," I said softly.
"It's alright. By the way, what did you dream about, Amelia? Can you tell me?" he inquired.
"I dreamt about my parents. I saw them being mercilessly murdered, but the details escape me," I lied.
I could hear his deep breaths as he gently caressed my back. He held onto my clenched fist from earlier and locked eyes with me.
"Just relax, Amelia. I'm right here and I won't abandon you," he reassured me calmly.
I placed my hand on his chest, giving him a seductive look.
"What if I decided to end you right now?" I silently contemplated.
His breathing became heavier due to my thoughts. He shook his head at me and stopped my hand.
"Please, just don't," he pleaded.
However, I continued to caress his chest, surprising him when I pulled him closer to me. Anger coursed through my veins, but I tried my best to calm down. I passionately kissed him, and he reciprocated, refusing to let go. I kissed him deeply and slowly removed my bra.
Suddenly, memories of my haunting nightmare flooded my mind. His demonic face, mercilessly taking the lives of my parents. My kiss grew more intense, and he seemed oblivious to it as he went along with me. But when I caught a strange scent from him, my heart raced inexplicably. I fought against it, but I couldn't resist any longer, so I abruptly pushed him away.
"I'm sorry, Amelia," he innocently apologized.
"What is that smell?" I wondered silently.
He quickly stood up and apologized, but I pushed him away from me. I begged him to leave me alone because I needed some time to myself. I couldn't comprehend the strange feeling that washed over me when I caught that unfamiliar scent from him.
The next morning, I woke up early and decided to venture into the forest. I chose to leave the castle behind. After what happened last night, I didn't want to disturb him any further. I craved solitude to contemplate my plans.
As I walked, hunger gnawed at my stomach. I realized that I had left without eating anything. I tried to ignore the hunger pangs, but then I spotted a deer. A mischievous smile formed on my lips as I attacked without hesitation, driven by my hunger. The wolf inside me grew stronger with every sip of blood and every bite of flesh.
My sense of scent heightened and I sprinted faster towards my beloved spot in the heart of the jungle. Despite the potential encounter with an adversary, I made the conscious decision to proceed.
After some time, I arrived and beheld the crystal-clear flow of water. Settling on a massive rock, I took a deep breath, yearning to escape my thoughts. However, before long, a man materialized before me, the very same vampire I had conversed with in the past. I readied myself for a potential attack, scrutinizing his every move.
"With a smile, Miss, you have two options," he uttered.
"You can assist me in infiltrating the castle, or you can meet your demise at my hands this very moment!" he threatened.
"Are you attempting to intimidate me?!" I firmly inquired.
"What do you think?" he sarcastically replied.
"Why do you seek entry into the castle? What is your purpose?!" I firmly pressed.
"The fang of the ancient wolf is what I require. Rest assured, aiding me in obtaining it will not bring you any trouble," he responded.
"That is the sole means by which I can succeed in eliminating the merciless and formidable Alpha, such as Conrad, and your own Alpha," he added.
I pondered his words, intrigued by the identity of Alpha Conrad and the reason behind the widespread fear he instilled. His name had been mentioned numerous times since the Silver Moon pack's Alpha was slain. I also recalled Alpha Damien mentioning him once. As I ruminated, I held my breath, convincing myself that Alphas like Damien were heartless beings, employing their power to slaughter the defenseless.
"They are no different!" I muttered to myself.
Although I lacked knowledge of the true narrative, I could perceive the vampire's burning desire for vengeance, and in him, I saw a reflection of myself. Memories of the nightmare that had unfolded in my life resurfaced. Suddenly, a plan materialized in my mind against Alpha Damien. If I were to aid this vampire, I must also reap my own benefits. The vampire man was taken aback, struggling to believe the proposition I had just made.
