Chapter 68: Leave

No one dared to support Swana's decision to transfer power to Noel. The nobles were silent and reluctant to respond. Of course, it was all due to their fear of Curtis.

This made Swana even more frustrated. She wanted to end her burden immediately. But everyone was making things difficult for her.

Finally, Swana's anger exploded out of frustration. If the nobles were not supportive then it would be impossible for Noel to ascend the throne. That meant he would be left for much longer.

"Why do you keep opposing my decision? This is the umpteenth time you've opposed Noel's coronation!" Asked an emotional Swana.

"We prefer you to lead the kingdom than a prince recovering from a mental illness," explained the prime minister.

That excuse again. Swana was really fed up with that excuse.

"But he's completely cured! Eden healed Noel." Swana repeatedly explained, but it was not considered by the Sinclair nobles.

"I'm sorry but we still don't trust Prince Noel's leadership."

Swana sighed. She didn't know what to do to make them accept Noel. All the plans were in place. But now there was a rejection that she didn't expect.

The nobles were still firm in their stance. And Swana ran out of ideas to persuade them.

"The meeting is adjourned," Swana decided.

"But we must discuss the issue of drought at the border. " The prime minister quickly reminded Swana.

Swana suddenly had an idea. "Then I will tell Noel to handle it. You discuss the matter with Noel."

Swana thought that if the nobles knew Noel's leadership qualities, then they would not oppose the prince's coronation.

"But..."

Before they could stop Swana, the girl walked away. Swana did not want to hear anything from the nobles. She also did not care if she was considered selfish.

Yerenika and Noel were still in the moon palace, where their late mother had lived after Swana announced their return to the palace. They knew that the wave of rejection of Noel's coronation as king had already been heard. And Swana was desperately trying to persuade the nobles to support Noel's coronation. But they also knew that Swana had failed.

"Somehow I feel that our return here is a mistake," said Yerenika.

"But this throne is mine, Yerenika. I am a direct descendant of my father," Noel said. As the only prince descended from King Damian, he clearly wanted the throne of the Sinclair kingdom. Especially since he used to be the crown prince.

"Are you sure if this throne is now controlled by Swana? We know very well who rules in this kingdom," Yerenika whispered.

She felt sorry for Swana who fought so hard for Noel.

"I'm not sure if you can lead as well as Swana."

Noel, who felt belittled, clearly did not accept it. How could his sister say that?

"Are you underestimating me?"

Yerenika realized that her words offended Noel. She closed her mouth and apologized.

"Oh I was so rude, I'm sorry. You know that's not what I meant."

Before Noel could get angry, Nancy came towards them. She bowed slightly in salute and then greeted them.

"Greetings Prince Noel. The Queen has asked you to meet the nobles in the meeting room. You have been asked to lead a meeting to discuss the drought in the west," Nancy reported.

Noel couldn't believe that he would be involved in the government.

"Are you sure?" Noel asked. He was getting excited.

"Yes," Nancy replied. She came forward and spoke slowly. "The Queen asks you to prove your skills so that the nobles know your quality," Nancy said quietly.

Noel nodded his head. He got up from the chair and walked towards the meeting room. His footsteps were followed by Nancy.

Meanwhile, Curtis and Swana's deteriorating relationship has yet to find its way back. Swana is filled with guilt but she also doesn't want to be like this forever. She had had enough of being queen and being depressed.

Soon Nancy knocked on the door and entered. She wanted to report that Noel had gone to the meeting room.

"Auntie, how is the boardroom?" Swana asked.

See, she couldn't even calm down for a few moments. There was just something she had to think about. Curtis should understand the pressure she was feeling. Even if Noel did not recover, she intended to appoint Yerenika in his place.

"Everything went smoothly, the nobles who were originally unsure of the Prince's abilities became amazed. Prince Noel is doing a good job."

Nancy's answer made Swana breathe a sigh of relief.

"Then did you hear about Curtis. I haven't heard from him for a few days?" Swana asked.

Missed? Of course she did. He was her soulmate. Not seeing him is torture in itself.

"The Commander and his troops went to conquer the monsters in the southern region. So we didn't hear from him until now," Nancy replied.

This was what the mature woman was afraid of. She was afraid that Swana and Curtis would split up. This was the first time they had fought so hard.

"Do you regret the decision to release Eden?" Nancy asked.

Swana looked at Nancy. Her current relationship with Curtis had gone bad because of her decision. But she did not regret releasing Eden.

"Absolutely not. If I were to turn back time, I would do the same thing. I want my cousin to recover. She does not deserve the punishment for the crimes of King Damian. And Eden does not deserve to be a fugitive for the crimes of the previous head witch."

Nancy had expected Swana to be stubborn.

But Swana really suffered from her stubbornness. She had to face the fact that Curtis brought female servants to serve him. They were of great beauty. Of course Swana became jealous.

"Did Curtis do it on purpose?" Swana asked.

"I think so. No one should give orders to the Commander's special female servant even if it's me," reported Nancy.

Swana finally gave up. She had no intention of mending her fractured relationship.

"Call the prime minister and Prince Noel," said Swana.

Nancy suddenly felt that Swana would do something hurtful. But she did not have the authority to ask why Swana had summoned those two people.

"Very well, Queen."

And as expected, Swana gave the decision to appoint Prince Noel to take over her job until Noel's elevation to King.

Surprisingly, this time the Prime Minister did not oppose. He seemed to realize that Noel deserved to lead the kingdom because of his success in overcoming the drought intelligently.

After she legalized her decision, Swana left. She no longer wanted to be in the same palace with Curtis.
