Chapter 180 The Silent Treatment Tactic

Chapter 180 The Silent Treatment Tactic

Sensing her hesitation, Lawrence turned to her.

"And what else?"

Hazel took a deep breath, deciding to just go for it.

"And I heard that half a month after your parents' car accident, Robert got a huge sum of money and moved the company overseas. I suspect..."

"Hazel, you think the Knight family was involved in my parents' death?"

Before Hazel could finish, Lawrence asked gently.

Seeing no trace of displeasure on Lawrence's face, Hazel nodded, then realized and gave him a playful glare.

"Did you already know about this?"

Lawrence's reaction was just too calm.

He raised an eyebrow, not denying it. Seeing Hazel's almond-shaped eyes glaring at him, he explained.

"I also had someone look into it. I only recently found out about the Knight family's activities abroad."

Lawrence said honestly, "Hazel, how did you find out about all this?"

Hazel replied, "I have my own connections too!"

She was about to say that Kelly helped her, but decided against it. No need to bring her into this.

But even if Hazel didn't say it, Lawrence could pretty much guess.

She only had a couple of close friends, it wasn't hard to figure out.

Lawrence raised an eyebrow, "Well, good job!"

Hazel lifted her chin, clearly pleased with the compliment. "Of course! Now, since you know Susan has other motives for coming back, what's your plan?"

They couldn't just let Susan hang around the Johnson Group forever.

"To find out if Robert sent her, we need to see if she's in contact with anyone else in the Johnson family."

After a moment of thought, Lawrence spoke.

Hazel's eyes lit up, "I actually have an idea."

"Really? What's your idea?"

Lawrence's expression showed a hint of surprise and interest.

"I think Susan still has feelings for you. Why don't we set a trap for her, make her fall for it, and then we'll know what she's really after."

"You mean lure her out?"

Lawrence raised an eyebrow. It wasn't a bad idea.

But following Hazel's plan to set a trap for Susan gave him a bad feeling.

Sure enough, the next second, Hazel squinted at him, "Lawrence, I bet Susan still likes you. Why don't you use your charm to get some information out of her?"

Hearing the teasing tone in Hazel's voice, Lawrence took a deep breath, clenched his jaw, and gave Hazel a playful smack on the butt.

The sharp sound echoed in the quiet study.

"Ridiculous!"

After the smack, Lawrence said sternly.

Hazel, holding the spot where she was hit, glared at Lawrence, "I give you an idea and you hit me?"

She didn't even want to talk to Lawrence anymore.

As Lawrence leaned in to kiss Hazel's lips, his eyes had a mischievous glint. "My charm is only for you."

It sounded like he was flirting.

Hazel's face turned bright red. She jumped out of Lawrence's arms, her face flushed, and said irritably, "I'm going to bed. You keep working!"

Lawrence just loved teasing her.

Storming back to her room, Hazel buried herself under the covers.

Even though they'd been married for a while and had done everything a couple does, Lawrence could still easily make her blush.

No, she had to find a way to get back at him.

The next morning, Hazel woke up to find Lawrence already standing by the bed, getting dressed.

Seeing Lawrence looking so refreshed, Hazel was annoyed.

She was sore and tired, but he seemed perfectly fine.

Seeing Hazel lying in bed, Lawrence bent down and scooped her out of the covers, "Alright, get dressed and come down for breakfast."

After getting ready, Lawrence sat back in his wheelchair, and Hazel pushed him to the elevator.

Downstairs, a lavish breakfast spread awaited them.

After eating, Jason drove them to the company as usual.

"The acquisition of the Anderson Group will be handled today. You don't need to worry."

On the way to the company, Lawrence mentioned.

Hazel nodded. Before getting out of the car, she kissed Lawrence on the cheek.

"Thanks, honey. You're the best! Have a good day at work!"

Since Lawrence was handling everything, she didn't have to deal with it herself.

The least she could do was sweet-talk him.

Clearly, Lawrence appreciated it.

Walking into the office building, Hazel and Kelly arrived almost simultaneously.

"Hazel, morning!"

Kelly greeted her, handing her a cup of coffee. Hazel took it and thanked her.

"So, did you talk to Lawrence about what we discussed last night?"

Hazel knew she was referring to Susan, so she nodded.

"I did tell him, but he already knew."

Kelly was surprised for a moment, then understood, "Makes sense. He's part of the Johnson family, after all. If I could find out, so could he."

Hazel smiled slightly, "Lawrence already has a plan."

Last night, they discussed it. Since Susan still had feelings for Lawrence, Hazel suggested a cold war tactic to make Susan think she had a chance.

When someone saw hope, they tended to act faster.

Although Lawrence initially opposed the idea, he eventually agreed after Hazel's persuasion.

After all, resolving the Susan issue sooner was a good thing.

Kelly, curious, asked, "What's the plan?"

Hazel explained the cold war tactic. Kelly thought for a moment, then said, "Didn't you guys do this once before? Using the same tactic again?"

There was a hint of disdain in Kelly's voice. Hazel's eye twitched slightly, "Well, Susan has feelings for Lawrence. We need to give her some hope to lure her in!"

Kelly chuckled, "Your man really attracts a lot of attention."

After a bit more banter, they went about their work.

Two days later, the Fields Group's exhibition officially began.

Daryl had invited Lawrence earlier, so Hazel and Lawrence left early to attend.

"When are you going to be able to stand on your own? Are you planning to pretend forever?"
