Chapter 14: Prom Night and Graduation Day

These last two weeks have been never ending. It is finally the day of prom. Bethany and I are getting ready together. We go into town and get our hair and nails done. We stop by the florist to pick up our boutineers for the guys that we had pre-ordered a week ago. They look great and they were able to match the ribbon perfectly with the color of our dresses.

Now we are in our room putting on our dresses and accessories. We only have 10 minutes until Colton and Kyle come to pick us up. We put on our shoes and then head down to the lobby. There waiting is Kyle and my boyfriend. Both of their mouths are hanging open as they look at us from head to toe. They are so handsome in their tuxes. They finallly stop ogling us and step towards us. We give the boutineers to the guys and they give us our corsages. They are awesome looking. Mine is mini white roses with a light purple ribbon. Colton takes my hand and leads me over by the window.

He says, "Wow Everly, you look so beautiful. Here let me put your corsage on your wrist."

I blush, nod my head, and say, "Colton, you look so handsome. Let me put your boutineer on."

He then pecks me on the cheek and we go out the door and walk towards the gym where the prom is taking place. We walk into the gym and it looks amazing. We then dance with all of our friends and just enjoy the night.

The prom has now finished and Colton and I are walking back to my dorm.

I ask, "Colton, do you want to come up for a little while."

He says, "Yes."

We then go up to my dorm room and go inside. I am so nervous, but I want to do this. I turn the lamp on and we sit on my bed. Colton kisses me and it starts to get heated. He lays me back on the bed and comes over the top of me. We start to heavily make out. I unbutton his shirt and throw it on the floor. He takes my dress off and then lays between my legs. He starts kissing me again and then kisses down my neck.

Colton says, "Everly, I love you so much."

I say, "Colton I love you too and I want you to be my first and I really hope that you are my mate."

He says, "Me too."

We then go back to making out and we are just about to remove the rest of our clothes when I hear a key in the door and then the door slowly opens. I immediately cover myself and Colton jumps up. We both are breathing heavily.

I look over and it is Bethany standing there.

She says, "Oh my, I am so sorry. I will just wait downstairs and she starts to leave."

Colton says, "No no Bethany, I have to go anyways."

He looks back at me and kisses me.

He says, "I am so sorry Everly."

I just look at him with tears in my eyes. He look away and then puts on his shirt and leaves my room. Bethany comes in and shuts the door.

She says, "I am so sorry. I didn't think that you guys would be here."

I say, "It is ok Bethany. Apparently he did not want to finish."

I get up and change into my pajamas and remove my makeup. I crawl under the covers and face the wall. I can't help the tears that are trailing down my face. I then feel the bed dip and Bethany puts her arms around me.

She says, "Don't cry E."

I just shake my head and cry out, "Why doesn't he want me? He was so into it at first and then he just turned cold and left."

She says, "I don't know Everly. When I first opened the door, he looked like he was enjoying it. I think that if I hadn't come home, then you would have finished. I just don't know though. He did turn completely cold and then just left."

She holds me for a little while and then returns to her bed. I pick up my phone and text Colton, but he never answers me. I bet he is sleeping. I then fall asleep.

The next morning, I check my phone, but he hasn't answered me. I wonder what he is doing. Oh well, I will give him some space. We get up and go to breakfast. I see Colton sitting with my brother and I walk over.

"Hey Colton, can I talk to you real quick?"

He says, "Sure."

We go out into the hall and face each other.

I say, "Colton, how come you haven't answered my text?

He says, "I didn't see your text. I must have been sleeping."

I just nod my head and ask, "So how come you just left last night?"

He says, "I did not want Bethany to have to wait in the lobby. That was not right."

I say, "OK, whatever."

I then turn around and walk back to my table and eat. He follows me and sits across from me. I then see Victoria and she is smirking at me. She has a big hickey on her neck. I wonder what she is smirking about. I then get up and leave. I do not say anything to Colton and just walk back to my dorm.

For the next week I have tried to text Colton and he will not answer me. I finally see him walking to the pond alone and follow him.

I say, "Hey Colton, why have you been avoiding me?"

He looks at me with a sad face and says, "Everly, I think we should stop seeing each other. We find out who our mates are in less than a month. I am afraid that you will not be my mate."

I just look at him with tears trailing down my face and say, "You know what Colton, you are just a coward! Fine we are done. Good luck in finding your mate."

I then stomp away. Bethany sees me and says, "What happened?"

I answer her, "Colton and I broke up. He is afraid that we are not going to be mates."

Bethany says, "What a coward!"

I just nod my head.

These last couple of weeks have been crazy busy. I finished all of my classes and now I am getting ready for my graduation day. I am so excited to finally be finished with high school. Now my life will begin with my mate. I can't wait. I wonder who he is? I am still mad at Colton, but I really hope that

he is my mate.

It is now the day of our high school graduation. I am so excited because my parents and the Alpha and Luna of our pack are coming to watch us graduate. Then the next day, we will find out who our mates are. I am getting ready in my dorm room when there is a knock at the door. I answer it and my mother and the Luna are standing there looking at me. I hug both of them and invite them in. We all chat for about an hour and then it was time to go and graduate. We walked out of our dorm and met up with my dad, the Alpha, Noah, and Colton. We walked down by the pond because that is where the graduation is being held. I go and take my seat right next to Noah and our parents take their seats with the other parents.

Mr. Korbel stands up on the stage and gives a speech. After all of the speeches are done, Mr. Korbel starts calliing out names. He calls my name, and I walk across the stage and receive my diploma. Noah is next and I wait for him. He gives me a big hug and we go and sit down. After all of the names have been called, Mr. Korbel says, "Congratulations Class of 2020." We all cheer and then go and find out parents. We find them talking to the Alpha and Luna. We walk up to them and they all give us a hug. Colton walks up and they hug him too.

My mom says, "I am so proud of all three of you. Noah and Colton, I will see you both back at the pack in the next couple of days. Everly, my beautiful daughter, I hope that I will see you too. Maybe your mate will be in our pack. If not, just know that I love you so much and I will miss you. Maybe your mate will let you come home for a visit."

She then hugs me, kisses me on the cheek, tells me that she loves me, tells me goodbye, and then runs to the car. I watch her and she is sobbing. I start crying and my dad puts his arms around me.

He says, "She will be ok sweetie. I really hope that your mate is in our pack too."

He kisses my cheek, hugs me, tells me goodbye and that he loves me. I can see the tears in his eyes. He then tells everyone goodbye and runs to the car. I can see both of my parents crying and then they leave. I just keep crying and Noah puts his arms around me and whispers in my ear that it will be ok. I look up at him and he has tears in his eyes too.

I say, "I am going to go to my dorm room and start packing."

I give the Alpha and Luna hugs and tell them goodbye. Noah then wraps his arms around me and pecks my cheek.

He says, "I will check on you later."

I just nod my head and walk away.
