Chapter 107: Chapter 107
Celine's POV:
After my call with my lawyer, Barrister Anthony ended, I heard the commotion outside my office door, then I rushed out to find out what had happened.
"What happened?" I asked, rushing to the scene ahead of me. Kaleb was crying, as he held his hand, and next to him was Justin.
"What happened between them?" I asked, surprised to see my son and Justin.
"I don't know what happened, ma'am. I was attending to the kids, and Kaleb started crying all of a sudden," Becky reported, her face filled with worry, and seeing that we had many customers.
I asked my son, "What's wrong, Kaleb?"
"He hit me," Kaleb pointed to Justin, and I saw that Edwin wasn't in the Restaurant at the moment.
"Where's your Dad?" I asked Justin, as he was older than my son.
"I didn't hit him. He hit me first and told me to stay away from his mother."
"Kaleb," I looked at my son, not expecting him to be so petty. "Why would you hit him and lie to me?"
"I didn't lie, Mom. I told him to stay away from you, and he refused, and I pushed him away and told him to leave. But he hit me."
"Hmm. You shouldn't fight with him. Now, apologize," I insisted, and Kaleb stubbornly glanced away. I wouldn't have expected my little son to be stubborn. He wrapped his hands around his chest and looked away.
"Kaleb, do you want me to discipline you? Tell him you're sorry," I insisted, and my son frowned.
He looked at Justin and mumbled, "I'm sorry."
Edwin rushed back into the Restaurant and looked at us in surprise.
"What's going on, Justin? I was just on a call for a few minutes, and you're already creating a scene," Edwin said, as he took long strides to meet us.
"Dad, I didn't do anything wrong. I only ordered my meal, and this boy came at me," Justin pointed to my son, who glared at him.
"Kaleb, what's going on between them?" Edwin looked confused, and I smiled.
"I'm sorry. My son became jealous and thinks your son wants to take me away from him. That's the problem here, and I have cautioned him to apologize," I said, and Edwin smiled.
"Is that so, kiddo?" Edwin squatted to meet Kaleb's height, and my son looked away.
"Don't worry, Justin is still a kid, and he can't date your mom. But I like your mom, and I will have to seek your permission to date her," Edwin completed his speech, and my eyes widened in shock.
Kaleb looked at Edwin and frowned, but he didn't say anything.
"What's wrong? You don't want me for your mother, right?" Edwin asked with a laugh as he rose to his feet.
"Don't mind my son. He's possessive of me and wants his dad only. But I will caution him not to get angry with your son. They will be seeing each other often, and fighting isn't going to help our collaboration," I said, as Edwin stood up.
"You're right. Justin, apologize to him," Edwin insisted, and his son frowned.
"Dad, I didn't hit him first," Justin refused to apologize, but seeing his father's serious face, he mumbled out his apologies.
"That's not how to apologize. You should take his hand and tell him you're sorry," Edwin insisted, and the two kids looked at each other.
Justin hesitated, but under his father's watchful expression, he took my son's hand and apologized, "I'm sorry, Kaleb."
"Hmm," my son pressed his lips, not wanting to say anything.
"Kaleb," I called his name, and he apologized, "I'm sorry."
I smiled, seeing the two kids forgive each other.
"Have you both had lunch?" I asked Edwin, and he shook his head as his phone rang.
"No, we'll have to be on our way and maybe get takeout. I have some partners to meet with. Thank you," Edwin accepted his call, and I moved away with Kaleb to caution him again, as I was still surprised that my son was holding a grudge.
"Kaleb, you don't want me to get mad at you. You shouldn't try to bully a child again. Alright?" I asked, and he apologized, "I'm sorry, Mom."
"It's okay," I stood up back and saw Edwin end his call. He ordered takeout for himself and his son and turned to leave.
"We'll be taking our leave now. Goodbye," Edwin waved at me and Kaleb, and we waved back and watched them leave.
After that, I returned to my office to have my lunch with my son. Once Barrister Anthony arrived with the result of the contract that I sent to him, I thanked him, sent his payment, and kept the contract in my bag as I made up my mind to visit Edwin's hotel the next day before signing the one-year Restaurant contract with him.
A grin tugged at the corner of my lips as I thought about the one million that Edwin wanted to pay me. Also, for the fact that my business was doing well and gaining more recognition than I had expected.
After I closed for the day, I picked up my handbag to leave my office. But as I walked out of my office with my son, we came across Martin and Ava with their daughter again.
Surprisingly, the little girl in a yellow dress waved at my son, "Hi, Kaleb."
My eyes widened in shock, as it didn't occur to me that my son was familiar with Ava's daughter.
I wanted to look away and pretend like I hadn't spotted Ava and Martin, as they came as a family of three to eat.
"Hi," Kaleb mumbled, and my right hand held his hand firmly for us to leave.
Ava saw through my behavior that I didn't want to say hello to her, even when we met again.
"Ma'am, are you leaving? Goodbye, Kaleb!" My waitress waved at Kaleb and me, while I saw Ava's eyes widen in shock. She hadn't expected me to be the owner of the Restaurant.
As I glanced away from Ava's table, I waved at the waitress and left with Kaleb.
Stepping out of the Restaurant, I paused, glanced back at my son, and asked him, "Where did you know that little girl?"
"She's my classmate," Kaleb said.
"What are the odds," I scowled and replied, "Let's go."
Getting into my car, I assisted my son to fasten his seatbelt, and I spoke to him, "Kaleb, we'll be going to see Uncle Edwin tomorrow. I don't want you to get into any quarrel with Justin. Is that clear?"
"Yes, Mom. I'm sorry that I bullied him."
"It's okay. Just be a good boy and be friendly with Justin, okay? I already told you that he can't take me away from you," I said.
"Alright, Mom," Kaleb sighed with relief. His expression brightened as I repeatedly assured him that Justin couldn't take my love away from him.
"Mom, do you like Justin's dad?"
"No, it's only business. Even his dad can't take me away from you. So don't worry about all that," I pecked my son's cheek. A look of relief was on his face.
As I slid into the driver's seat of my car, I turned on the ignition and drove home. We went home straight, and I had some soup ready for us to eat.
