Chapter 116: Hundred and fifteen
'Thank you very much Estella, I really don't know what I'd do without you' Estella blushes at the praise, took a small bow and moves into the corner, waiting around to running other errands while giving the two friends space to talk without intruding. When Estella was first appointed as her personal maid, Lucy Rose didn't like the idea one bit, she wasn't handicapped so why would she need someone to constantly hover around and pick after her, but in the last one year, she has come to appreciate that one over zelouse decision of her mother, getting swamped with works means she could barely even find the time to do something as simple as make her own bed, Estella has deligently taken up the task of doing virtually everything for her. '...You know I'm always happy to see you here Lexxie, but when you come so early, it only means there's something going on, something I'm sure I don't want to be a part of, what petty scheme are you plotting this time around?' Lucy Rose started to explain herself then paused when she finally gave a proper look at Lilith and saw what she was wearing. 'Wait a fucking minute! What is that you're wearing?' she asked with a loud ring laughter that made the latter childishly pulled her tongue out at her.'That's real matured of you' she further teased.
'It's gown of course, and one very similar to what our darling sweet Estella has picked out for you to wear, so think twice before passing a mocking comment cause thar would mean your style is just as horrible' she says, wiping the bits of ice cream smear off her chin as the finished the first bowl and reached for the second.
'Please! We both know I always dress to kill...' Lilith pretended to choke and started coughing, prompting Lucy Rose to give her a dirty look as she struggles into her matching lacy underwear, usually, she'll dress in her closet which is an entire room space, big enough to house an entire family on a tight budget, but that would put a barrier to her communication with Lilith and if whatever her dear friend came for isn't achieved, the chances of getting to work on time would be very slim. 'Why are you wearing a an office gown? I didn't know soliciting for clubs requires you to look professional, or did you finally ditch your job to go into finance?' she asks. Lilith's family own a big auditing firm and all her brothers works there, they've also been pressurimh her to join the family business, though not enough to have her change her mind.
'Not a chance of snow ball in hell! There's no way I'm getting stucked, working with my insufferable brothers...' Though she sounded discontent at that moment, Lucy Rose is fully aware of how much she loves and adore her brothers, she just hates to admit it out loud. '...if I give in to their demand this once, next thing you'd know, they'd be trying to control my entire life and deciding who I'd marry, that's why I always put my foot down and refuse to play their games' she finished up the second bowl and started to reach for the third but Lucy Rose slapped her hands off, took the tray and pass it back to Estella with a firm command for her to take it away. 'that's your punishment for ditching me when I needed you the most!' Lucy Rose told herself repeatedly not to get mad, Lilith has never done anything like that before so there must be a real why she didn't check up, why she replied very late and in monotones to her messages, also she has a life of her own and she's in the most crucial stage of her career, but the prolonged silence from her and Killian especially, left her a little bitter and alone, thankfully, she didn't get to dwell on it much, not when Monica is starting to exhibit very strange and worrisome behaviors, it gave her something else entirely to worry about. When she confronted Monica about what the suspicious conversation she heard her having over the phone, as expected, her mother managed to turn the whole table on her, finding a way to make ever question come back to her broken engagement, in the end, Lucy Rose has to give up and leave, she knew she wouldn't get the answers she needed but that didn't mean she'll give up so easily either, if Monica decides to always throw her weight around, she'll have to learn to start doing the very same in order to level the playing field. Lilith has the decency to look ashamed when she made the statement, she sat up and started to explain herself "listen Rose! You have every right to be mad at me, amd there's no excuse in this world good enough to have acted that way, but in my defence, my life has gotten a whole lotta crazier and out of lane in the last few days...' then she started to unburden herself, she told her about the approval of the contract she has been pitching to her boss, that orr course came with an automatic promotion which includes a total change in her approach to work and even her dress sense, she hadn't seen all this coming and as a result, she's still in shock and very skeptic about taking the opportunity.
