Chapter 117: Hundred and sixteen

'... where's your car?' Lucy Rose asks Lilith who was too busy with her phone to notice anything, while looking around the garage for the signatory red Mercedes Benz to no avail, one of her many situationship had gotten it as a gift a few months back, she then proceeded to call things off with him a few weeks later because she wasn't "feeling him" and still refuses to return the car, her defence was "it's a gift and he bought it in my name, hell will freeze over before I think of returning it back to that petty man child" and nothing Lucy Rose has to say could change her stance. They had spent the last thirty minutes catching up and though it's been less than a week since they last saw each other, they both had a whole lot to unpack which made it feel like enternity, Lilith is freaking out about the fast progression of her professional life, she has always wanted the growth but she didn't expect or envision the extra consequences that came along with it, which leaves her quesite unsure and in a shock, while Lucy Rose is very worried about what her mother might be up to and the possiblity of Marcel's mother keeping to herself, also, it may sound weird, but she also found Marcel's silence unsettling, he isn't the type to give up so easily even after she's made her self unequivocally clear, so why his he suddenly being so compliant when she expected fight backs, she should be relieved but it just adds to her mountain of worries, she could help but wonder what exactly is going on with everyone?. Doing her part as a good friend, Lucy Rose was able to assure Lilith to keep and open and calm mind, she told her the change might be too sudden and scary but the end goal is what matters and that involves sacrifices, she's also had to make sacrifices to attain her position of power at NOVA, and though on most days, it can be tiring and draining, but she won't ever be able to trade the feeling of fulfilment she feels for anything else in the world.

'You have worked so hard and earned this, even when many, including myself, thought you could have done better by joing your family business instead, that it's just a baseless hobby and a waste of your precious time, but look, here you are proving us wrong one step of the way at a time, you're finally achieving everything you've ever wished and hope for, it's only naturally that the imposter syndrome attacks and you start to develope cold feet, I had the same feeling when my father finally gave me a place at NOVA after years of belittling and ignoring me, but I chose to overcome it and prove myself, to show everyone that I'm deserving of it, not only because I'm his daughter, but because I'm as capable as any other heir, male or not, so I did my part relentless and fight my way to the top, now, no one would ever be able to say I don't do my part, and diligently at that...' Those words were everything Lilith needed to hear, it gave hwr the assurance she needs, the assurance that she's not crazy to have felt the way she did, it also gave her the courage to go on, she's a girl with fire ans grit, so why should she be afraid of change? Rather, she could bend it to her will so it meets her halfway. And as for Lucy Rose's concern, Lilith confidently assured her to leave it to her, she's going to employed every tactics in her power to unveil whatever plot her mother, Marcel's mother and even Marcel himself may be cooking, Lucy Rose has no doubt she's up to the task, if she promised it, then she'll do every thing in her power to enauee she delivers. By the time they left Lucy Rose's quarters for the garage to head of to work, both friends felt much lighter from their worries.

'Oh my car! I didn't bring it, I got scratched by a drunkened fool yesterday and sent it off for repair, I swear I had a half a mind to chase down the idiot and give him hell for bashing my baby but I was just too tired for it, plus I was literally starving, that was his saving grace, in fact, I had to come here in a taxi, can you imagine that? Anyways, you'd be dropping me off at work before heading to yours, thank you in advance' she announced, aware that she had juat disrupted Lucy Rose's plan as she walked passed pass her without a hint of remorse and went straight to take her seat in front without awaiting a reply, she said a dismissive hi to the driver who is already seated and waiting and turns back to work without sparing him a look. Lucy Rose stood for a while, tempted to yell and scream out at Lilith but decided against it and stormed at her instead.

'Hey! You should have told me that earlier! I'm also running late as it is, all thanks to you...' she had fixed the interview process for selecting her personal body guard to hold in the next few hours, though she could have taken her time for it, she wanted to her over with the whole shinanigan as soon as possible, but before then, she has a lot of work to do and sort out at the office, dropping her dear friend at work would only cut more into her own limited time, especially since their places of work is at different end of town. 'why didn't you take any of your other cars, I mean there's a whole fleet in your garage, why take a taxi in the first place?' she asks, going into the car as well, she took the back seat. Lilith has a habit of collecting cars, some of which she has never driven before, she has the highest number of fleet in her entire family, her eldest brother once threatened to auction them away.
