Chapter 92

Nightmares became Daydreams

“Ah!” I screamed. Panting, I looked at my surroundings  and saw that I’m in a car. Right. We’re on our way to buy some groceries.

”What’s wrong? Everything’s okay?” Aciel curiously asked. Although I’m not sure with myself, I still nodded and smiled raw.

Wait. Nothing bad happened to me these past few days. Why do my nightmares suddenly come back?

”Had a bad dream?” he asked. I didn’t answer and just concentrated on adjusting myself. I felt him eyeing me even when his eyes should be on the road.

”Eyes on the road, Aciel.” I said with a warning tone.

”I am asking you.” he answered with his more intimidating warning tone as well.

I sighed heavily. The persistent Aciel as always.

”I’m used to it. Don’t worry.” I said.

”You’re used to it?”

I pursed my lips and nodded.

”What do you mean?” I can hear the confusion in his tone.

“I’m going through therapy. I’m actually getting better, so there’s nothing to worry about.” I said gently.

He didn’t answer for so long. I glanced at him and I saw his gritted jaw. I smiled sadly and palmed his jaw. I felt his muscles lose tension when I caressed it.

“I’m fine. Don’t worry.”

He glided his tongue inside his cheeks as he held my palm that’s caressing his jaw.

"Since when did you undergo therapy?” he asked seriously. His eyes are still on the road.

”Going four months now.”

His jaw moved. I chuckled and kissed the back of his palm.

”Just when I thought you’ve changed drastically, no. You’re still the same grumpy and sulky Aciel I know.” I giggled. He didn’t even react the same way as I did. He’s still serious.

“Were you able to love yourself while we’re apart?”

My lips automatically pressed and my smile disappeared.

”Cause I did.” he uttered. My heart sank hearing his words. I perfectly know what he means, of course. I know what he’s implying to.

I smiled. “Of course. I won’t do therapy if not.” I said trying not to make it sound like it’s a big deal.

”As much as I want to be by your side through your tough times, I know I wouldn’t contribute to your welfare. Me, myself was a mess too.” he uttered.

I bit my lip. I know it may not sound like a good decision, but I always believe that things happen because they meant to.

“At least you’re fine now,” I voiced out my long thoughts with a short statement.

”I’m fine, only when I’m with you.” he said.

Only if he’s not driving, I would have thrown myself at him like what I did in my apartment.

”I’m fine when I’m with you too.” I smiled, and he did too.

I realized that no matter how long it is, you have to hope that nightmares would turn into daydreams. Or even more than that.

Nothing much happened that day. After buying some groceries, he stayed in my apartment for hours and went home when it’s night time already. Gladly, I convinced him to go home early because I told him I needed to rest early. I literally have to open the clinic or else, Ms. Madrigal will fire me. Aciel’s fake girlfriend.

Speaking of which.

”Aciel,” I called him. He’s in front of my apartment so early. Fresh with his usual business man look. His hair is well fixed and dashingly looking so handsome. Not to mention his manly scent which I specifically approved years ago.

He offered to drive me to the clinic. Of course, as usual I had nothing to do but to let him. And besides, I’m liking it. There’s still a lot to catch up but we’re coping each day. We’re not rushing things. We just want everything to be opened naturally.

”I’m fine. You can leave now. I do this every day.” I convinced him to leave. He said he’s not leaving unless Ms. Madrigal arrives.

”He just crossed his legs and looked at me with his bored eyes. I imagine him as this handsome patient who’s looking so cocky and having mental issues. Is that weird?

”Unless you want to see Ms. Madrigal-”

I stopped speaking when he stood up and went into my desk, looking me straight in the eye. When he arrived at my direction, he put his palm on my desk and leaned to meet some spaces.

My eyes widened. Does he have to be this aggressive? Jesus!

”W-what?” I gulped and looked at his reddened lips. It’s more reddish now because he kept on playing with it while he’s waiting.

”I made it clear with you. No exes. No flings. No girlfriends. No Ms. Madrigal.” he said with his famous intimidating tone.

But since I’m not cutting him slack and I’m feeling a bit sarcastic today, I fought back.

I shrugged my shoulders. “We don’t know. Ms. Madrigal is smart and beautiful. The woman who has it all basically. If I were a man I would get attracted to her too.”

He smirked and cocked his head on the other side. He pushed himself more into me making me pull myself back so our lips won’t meet.

”I’m a man, and I’m not attracted to her.”

I raised a brow. “Really? Never did you lay an eye on her?” I teased.

”Of course I have eyes. What else can I do?”

I chuckled. “See?”

”I’m pertaining to literal things, Ms. Hampton.” he said.

”Uh-huh?” I teased.

”But if you want it that way. Alright. Won’t lay an eye on her.”

”I bet as soon as she stepped at the door your eyes would fall.” I laughed.

His brows shot up as he watched my quivering lips because I wasn’t able to stop my giggles. I only stopped giggling when I heard the chimes and I immediately composed myself with a straight face. But this man in front of me, didn’t even move an inch.

I gritted my teeth and made my eyes bigger to warn him but he just smirked.

”Oh! My boyfriend is here!” I heard Ms. Madrigal’s sarcastic tone as soon as she came in.

And because this man seems to have no idea about what’s happening, I stood to see Ms. Madrigal. I smiled and greeted her .

”Good morning, Ms. Madrigal.”

”It’s a good morning as well, Alia.” She greeted me.

I looked at Aciel and he didn’t even face Ms. Madrigal. He just stood straight and placed his hands on his pocket. He’s just staring at me with his amused and bored eyes.

”Hey, gentleman. I saw the unit by the way. Thank you!” Ms. Madrigal laughed.

She passed by Aciel and the man didn’t even lay an eye on her. He just licked his lips before saying something to me.

”I’ll go now. Fetch you later.”

My mouth parted. He really took it seriously. God!
