Chapter 40; The Alter Ego

Before Xander kissed her, Cheska's hand was tight around Xander's neck. She said with her eyes closed, "I told you not to mess with me."

Xander laughed because he thought Cheska was joking. "You seem to like the excitement of a violent relationship... I can give you that then, "he said, making a mean face.

But Xander's sneer slowly went away when Cheska's grip got too tight and made him short of breath.

"I agree with you... I'm excited when I see your scared face because I love violence "Cheska made fun of her, grinning as she put her face up.

Matthew was shocked by what he was seeing. The cruel things Cheska said and did made him feel sick. "You little thing—are you making fun of me?" He didn't know why Cheska changed so quickly, but he is very angry about it.

"I never thought that someone like you would be a leader. You're not strong enough to be one!" Cheska pushed Xander hard after putting him down. This made him lose his balance and fall to the ground.

Xander's eyes got bigger out of shock and shame. He had never been called weak before, so Cheska's words made him feel bad. "You witch, you!"

When Cheska's other self woke up, she was no longer afraid. So, instead of being scared and shaking, she laughed. "Don't worry, I'm not trying to hurt you! I'm telling the truth! If you had the strength to resist the push, you would have stayed standing."

Because of how badly he was treated, Xander completely lost his cool.

"Cheska Mcbride! This will cost you! How dare you make fun of a leader!" Xander moved quickly with his claws out, ready to cut without thinking about what would happen.

Cheska's iron hands caught Xander's attack just an inch before it hit her. "What the heck do you think you're doing? How dare you hurt my girlfriend!" Matthew's voice rang out.

"Ah! Darn it! It's not what you think, Matthew!" Xander yelled, "I'm full!" Because he was mad, he didn't notice when Matthew came.

He was angry that Cheska didn't answer Matthew's call, so he drove to the pack houses without stopping to think.

And the scene he sees makes him angry, which adds to his fear.

Cheska was scared and angry and didn't know what to do as she watched.

"What do you think I might be thinking? Who are you, anyway?" Matthew asked for.

The council members and Xander's pack delegate showed up all at once and ran to separate the two.

"Alpha! What's happening? Let Alpha Xander go!" The head council member grabbed Matthew's arm and told him to do it.

But Matthew's eyes kept looking at Xander. "This crazy person went after Cheska! Think I'm going to let him live?! "He yelled out.

Eunice went up to Cheska because she saw that she was grinning. She was aware of what was going on. Eunice said, "Matthew, it's better if you keep Cheska away and let me deal with Xander."

"Huh! I told you it wasn't my idea! That woman put me down. And she was the first to attack me!" Xander yelled out, wincing in pain because Matthew was still holding his arm tightly.

"What I said makes perfect sense! Look at yourself. Matthew could kill you without even trying." Cheska replied with a sneer.

Cheska's words shocked the council members and Xander's delegate, who all looked at her in shock, including Matthew.

"You heard it, right? How can that girl be Luna if she doesn't respect the leader? So let me show her how to respect a leader." Xander asserted.

Cheska cocked her head and smiled in a sarcastic way. "Get rid of it! You're not good enough to win. I'm also too valuable to be your Luna."

When Matthew heard what Cheska said, he already knew what was going on. He took his arm off of Xander and walked toward Cheska. "If you haven't done anything wrong, she won't insult you. She also said that Cheska will never be your Luna because she is too valuable for you to have."

Xander felt better when his group was around him. "Do you think I'm not as good as I am? I'm the strongest of all the contestants, so how could you say I don't deserve Cheska McBride? "He hissed.

But Matthew didn't listen to what Xander said to challenge him. He looked at Cheska, who was now smirking at him in a rude way. "Let's go home. Aunt Maurice is waiting for us there."

"How soon? But I'm not done..." Cheska spoke up.

Matthew didn't wait until Cheska was done talking. He lifted her up and took her with him. But before he left, he turned back to the person in charge of the council.

"If you invite Cheska again without telling me, I won't hold back. Even if you are the leader of the council, I don't care!"

As soon as they were out of sight, Xander's representative could only react. "Alpha, you're wrong! They made a mistake by underestimating you and our group. We could tell they didn't like us!"

"Yeah! Who does he think he is, the devil? Doesn't he know we're below the Sapphire pack?" Someone else in Xander's pack yelled.

Eunice could no longer hold back. "Why don't you, Xander, tell your group who Matthew is? Or do you want me to tell him about you?" With a smirk on her face, she exclaimed. Eunice didn't like that Matthew walked away with Cheska in his arms, but she had to watch.

Cheska's awakening of her alter ego was like a time bomb, and she was afraid she would go crazy in front of everyone.

"I'm sorry about the trouble... Don't worry, I'll talk to Matthew and make sure this doesn't happen again "The leader of the council gave up.

Eunice was watching, so Xander didn't want to talk about what had happened for too long. "Fine! But I'm going to warn you! What happens here, ends tonight! I can't stand to think that anyone would know about this! Do you understand?"

The leader of the council quickly gave a nod. "I will make sure that no one finds out about this, of course. Anyway, let me take you to your cottage..."

Xander gave a nod and then looked at Eunice. "What do you think?"

"What's up with me? Since nothing is wrong, I'll move on, "Eunice replied and then left. She got in the car that Cheska had left behind.

Matthew was paying close attention to the road while Cheska sat quietly in the passenger seat. But it didn't last long because he turned the steering wheel and stopped the car.

"What happened?! Why don't you pick up the phone?" Matthew yelled as he looked at Cheska with his eyes.

"I'm not sure... My innocent self might not want to talk to you."

Matthew shut his eyes to settle down. He almost forgot that Cheska still hadn't come to her senses. "Fine! Then, where did you and Xander go?"

"Oh, the pathetic alpha! Huh! He didn't think much of me and tried to kiss me, which made me want to kill him." Cheska muttered.

"What a crazy nut!" Matthew snarled and let out a sigh. Then he turned the car back on and didn't say anything.
