Chapter 33

“Nothing,” Quinn growled. “I am trying to contain one of my dwellers that had a baby recently, and she is confused,” he said looking at the dwellers all around. “We don’t want to have this war right now.”

“Seems to me she doesn’t want to go with you I think we’ll take her and the child into custody.” Nick snapped stepping beside Ivy. “Unless you rather start something that we hadn’t finished before Quinn.”

“You know Nick, you and I have a duel to square why don’t you tell your other Dwellers to step down and let us duel and see where we end up,” he mused. “I seem to remember the last battle I won.”

“Enough!” someone unfamiliar to Ivy growled. “Quinn bring the girl and the child to the Council you are not allowed to leave this realm and if you do, I will personally take you into custody.”

“Yes sir,” he said looking at Ivy. “You belong to me; you are to come with me,” he said walking over to her. “Come now you get to see where you are to go, there is no freedom now. Where he places you is where you are required to stay,” he said pulling her arm. “You shouldn’t have run, now you are in deep shit,” he whispered.

“At least I am not on your damn realm,” she said pulling away from him. “At least now I have a shot at getting the fuck away from you.”

“You’re not getting away from me. You and I are bound. He is going to realize that, and you are going to be forced to be my pet. I’m going to fuck you and make you have lots more of these babies,” he mused. “You are going to be my whore, and nothing more.” He laughed.

“You’re not going to touch me, Quinn, I’ll kill myself before that happens,” Ivy snapped.

“Well, that will be something I’ll be prepared for.”

“If you two are done, why don’t you sit down.” The man said. “Daniel will be here shortly, and the rest of the Council will join as well. I see this is going to be one hell of a mess and I don’t understand what has happened here.” He looked at each one of them before he excused himself.

Nick and the few White Dwellers talked among themselves, Quinn and the few that came with him, and Ivy stayed quiet. Ivy was scared, she wasn’t sure what to expect. She wasn’t sure if they were going to make her go back with Quinn, she wasn’t sure what he was going to force her to do. She wanted to ensure Evan was safe, and she knew Quinn was going to take him away from her when he had the chance.

A few people came into the chamber and sat at the podium in front of them, no one spoke. They stared at Ivy and Quinn.

“So why are we here Quinn, I thought you had your Dweller under control?” one spoke.

“I did, but she ran, she is scared, and she ran right into the White Dwellers. I tried to get her to come back with me, but then they appeared and we’re here now.” Quinn spoke calmly. “I just want to take her and our baby back home.”

“Your baby?” he said narrowing his eyes. “I thought the baby belong to Drake?”

“Well yeah, but I’ve adopted the baby, Drake has gone back to his life as living as a teenager, she belongs in my city, not here,” he said looking at Ivy. “Please release her into my custody. I bound her to me, I am not entirely sure how she figured out how to leave with our baby, he shouldn’t have been able to leave. Let alone with her.”

“I am not entirely confused you know how to care for this one,” he said looking at Ivy, “she isn’t a normal dark dweller, I can see the difference in here. I want an inquiry into this,” he said looking at the White Dwellers. “Agreed?”

“Yes,” Nick said without looking in their direction. “It has been brought to our attention when the girl and Quinn her arguing in the street, she felt different, I couldn’t see the darkness within her or the child.”

“Well, then the girl and the child stay here,” he said looking at Quinn.

“She isn’t safe here,” Quinn growled standing up. “I cannot allow my Dweller to stay here unprotected!”

“Well, in regard to that, she will be protected under Council protection, no one will have access to her, so you don’t have to worry about that. Please go back to your realm, we will set forth a trial and I will figure out what she is,” he said looking at Ivy, “you will remain in our custody, you are not allowed to roam free. Had you listened to Quinn you would have had your freedoms on his realm, you are under arrest.”

“Fine,” Ivy said looking at Quinn.

“This isn’t over!” Quinn growled before disappearing.

Ivy relaxed a little, she knew this wasn’t going to be over. She would see Quinn again, and they would force her to go with him.

“Now Ivy, you are going to be stuck here, Nick you are dismissed as well. We will figure this out.” The man looked at him.

“Understood,” Nick said leaving with his party as well.

Ivy stood up. “So where does this leave me, where will I stay?” she said taking a deep breath.

“Your parents were good friends of mine,” he said getting up from his seat and walking towards her. “I am sorry they were killed,” he said standing in front of her. “They should have told us about you and that you are quite different from us.”

“I still don’t understand this. I don’t feel different. You are different, but I am not,” she said shaking her head. “Can’t I just leave and never return?”

“No, I am afraid not. You don’t feel different because you haven’t changed fully, and we are not sure why,” he said, walking with her. “We are still learning about you, but you will start to feel different. We have to do this other ritual, the White Dwellers.”

“No, no more rituals,” Ivy said shaking her head.

“We must. It’s the only way we can figure out what you are. You aren’t even a shadow dweller, since Drake did it, so we want to try the White Dweller ritual and see if it works.”

“I told you it won’t work; I don’t think I am one of you. Maybe that is why my parents didn’t tell you. Maybe I am human after all.”

“You’re not Ivy, you see I can see your energy, it’s different.”

“But I cannot see yours.”

“You will when we finish, I promise things will make sense when we are done,” he said looking down at her. “I know your parents wanted to protect you and they did a good job until Quinn found you. If they would have come to me, we would have been better able to protect them, but they wanted to try and fight him themselves. And that is where they failed, and they were killed.”

“You realize he is going to kill me when you make me go back to him right?” she said looking down at Evan. “He’s going to make Evan kill the white dwellers, I want Evan placed with a non-dweller family.”

“We cannot do that; we need him on our side. Ivy you have to understand placing him with a non-dweller family isn’t a wise idea. He will grow up not knowing his line and it will die off, and then he will never know what he could have been.”

“Isn't that what my parents wanted for me?”

“Yes, but here we are.”

“Only because they didn’t give me away like I am going to do for him,” Ivy said kissing Evan. “Why can’t you just do this one thing for me?”

“Please listen to me Ivy, he is going to be a strong Dweller, he has the same energy that you have so he is special. That is why Quinn wants both of you. You two are unique, we haven’t seen two of the same energies in hundreds of years. Quinn is going to try and make more, and I am afraid it’s going to happen. I am going to try and get the Council to keep you here and safe, but they may not see the same as I.”

“I will run and hide,” she said shaking her head. “This time, no one will know where I am going.”

“Quinn says you belong to him, how?”

“He bound us by blood,” she said looking down at her palm, it was already healed.

“He can track you with that then,” he said looking down at her hand. “But maybe I have a spell we could use, but you are going to have to keep running, but please let me use the white dweller ritual before you run to ensure you have both sides.”

“Fine.”
