Chapter 117: Unanswered Questions
Gingerly but hesitantly, Noami stood up expecting Kristen to stop her from leaving. Disappointment was written all over her face and she was finding it hard to hide it. Kristen looked away from her as she waited for Noami to leave. Noami didn't look like Someone ready to leave.
She was taking too much time to leave and Kristen's patience was running thin.
"Damn this lady, she should leave already," Kristen spat angrily in her mind.
"Won't she ask me to stay and also apologize to me?"
Noami thought and took a step and then turned towards the direction of Kristen's face, as if on cue both their eyes met and they stared at each other.
The tension was thickening in the room. Noami was staring at Kristen, waiting for her to at least say something, anything. As she saw Kristen remained silent, her anger rose within her and she spoke, "you know what?" She glared at Kristen, pointing her index finger at her angrily, "I was a fool to think I can patch things up with you. I am done trying to befriend you. Who do you think you are? Some god-damned pretty queen that men flock around without seeing the flaws around you. I wish the guy that left here never returned to you and the one that truly loves you never looks your way again. Goodbye and have a nice lonely life as you have always."
With that Noami left and Kristen was left in bewilderment about what exactly just happened. A part of her wanted to follow her, chase her and ask why she had to speak those words to Kristen. Yet another part of her wanted to lock herself inside the bathroom and pretend nothing happened. After all, all Noami said had just been the truth.
What was wrong with her? She asked herself.
Suddenly everything Noami said washed over her, was she truly lonely and what does Noami mean by the one that truly loves her, never look her way? She was confused and she has questions as well but who is she to ask? Not her mother, both are not on good terms, or the angry neighbor that she just left now, she can't bring herself to do that. Maybe it is best for her that she just forgets all that her neighbor said and enjoys her peace of mind. While she thinks if she is to get married to Lucian, she will do something with her life. She had work to do and most of her clients will be worried sick by now, though she had sent emails explaining her situation.
Her stomach rumbled and she cursed out loud, "hungry!"
There was nothing to eat at home and she didn't have the strength to go get anything, she had one option, that is to manage and wait to see if miraculously anybody will visit her. She had no friends so who exactly is she expecting?
Her usual headache set in and she decided to go have that nape on empty stomach.
Kristen closed her bedroom door behind her and headed to the bed but stopped in her tracks. She quickly grabbed her phone from the bed and swiped it open. She was looking for what she didn't know, however she remembered what it was. She had a secret app where she hides photos and anything else she doesn't want people to see if they mistakenly pick her phone.
The app was staring right at her but she can't remember the password. She tried her name, and her dad's, and the combination of both names yet unlocking the app was unfruitful.
Her subconscious mind suggested a name and she tried, it opened.
"Why would Frederick be my password word?" Kristen wondered as she went through all that she hid in the app and every single one of them was there, what was she looking for exactly? She had no idea.
She sighed and dropped the phone and decided to lie down, not wanting to think about the fact that Frederick is her password, she might have liked the name, that's why.
As she settled on the bed, she was suddenly restless, yet again, she stood up and headed to her closet. She saw clothes she couldn't recognize buying, but it didn't matter since she could have gotten them within the period she can't remember anything.
Attempting to close the closet, she saw a bag and pulled it out, it contained a set of pajamas and a wallet.
"Does this belong to Lucian? Let me see."
She picked up the pajamas and sniffed them, it didn't belong to Lucian because she knew his scent. She sniffed it again and could still not recognize it, Kristen took a deep breath and put the pajamas back with her lips pouted. She was frustrated and sweating profusely. Nothing made sense to her, why can't she place her hand on what she was trying to find?
It's not like the answer was going to pop out of the top of her head which she wished, she decided to just try to focus on getting some rest. She put the pajamas and the wallet inside the bag and zipped it closed.
Kristen had thought that the moment her head hit the pillow, sleep would come but sleep wasn't coming easily to her, so she grabbed her laptop and decided to read something, anything, maybe she will fall asleep.
Nothing made sense to her yet she continued reading. Her phone vibrated indicating a text message but she ignored it. Her main focus was to find something, anything that will quench her curiosity.
After twenty minutes she decided that enough of this, she was not going to solve the problem if all she got was frustration and exhaustion. She pushed the laptop aside and decided to get dressed, step aside or drive around to get something in her belly, the hunger was becoming too much, while at it, she will warm up her car, it's been parked for God Knows how long.
The flay-flowered gown she put on made her look gorgeous, Kristen was becoming a pregnant queen. She is still in her first three months and she looks so gorgeous, heaven knows how beautiful she will become as the months roll by. Kristen couldn't wait for her baby bump to grow.
A loud knock interrupted her beautiful thoughts
