Chapter 203: Ran away
But before leaving, he looked at Victoria.
"Keep an eye on her for me."
Elijah hesitated and shook his head helplessly.
As Brandon left, Victoria felt strange. Why did Brandon suddenly change his mind and leave her at the old mansion?
Looking at the butler at the door, she quickly asked, "Uncle Butler, what is Brandon going to do at the old mansion?"
The butler didn't know. "The master didn't say, but it seems to be something urgent."
What could be so urgent?
Victoria suddenly became worried that they were going to harm Kate and Lucas.
"Uncle Butler, can you let me go to the old mansion and see? I'm worried that they're going to do something to Kate and Lucas."
"How could that be?" The butler looked shocked.
"Why not? They believe that Kate and Lucas are not Brandon's children. Uncle Butler, you've seen them grow up, don't you think they don't look like him?"
"Of course they are the master's children. Kate and Lucas look just like him." The butler had also watched the two children grow up and liked them very much. He especially felt that the house had become livelier since they arrived.
"That's why I have to go and see. Please let me go, Uncle Butler. You don't want to see those two children get hurt, do you... If something happens to them, I don't want to live either..."
The butler hesitated for a long time and was very troubled, but thinking of those two lovely children, he finally nodded. "Alright, Miss, but you must come back."
Victoria's face lit up. "Thank you, sir," she said, and quickly followed him.
When they arrived at the old mansion, the people there didn't know that Victoria had just had a fight with Brandon and been locked up by him. They thought she had come with him, so they let her in without question.
Victoria cautiously followed Brandon inside and leaned against the door, listening to their conversation.
"Brandon, what are you going to do with those two children?" the old lady asked.
So they had called Brandon back for the sake of the children! Victoria became even more nervous.
"They are my children, I can confirm that. No matter what you want to do, if you want to harm my children, you might as well kill me first," Brandon replied.
"You...Brandon, what has Victoria done to you? You have become so confused that you would say such things for her bastard children," the old lady said.
"Grandmother, this has nothing to do with Victoria. I just want those two children," Brandon said.
"How can it have nothing to do with her? Aren't you confused because of your love for her?" the old lady asked.
"Impossible. I kept her because she is the mother of my children!" Brandon replied, his voice devoid of any emotion.
"Really?" The old lady clearly didn't believe him.
"Of course," he answered.
"Well, since you say so, I can rest assured. But I have a question for you," the old lady's voice rose a few notches. "If I were to call Ophelia back, who would you choose?"
"What did you say?"
Brandon's voice finally trembled.
"Ophelia didn't leave you because she stopped loving you. I have informed her that if she still has feelings for you, she should come back. She might already be on the plane back home. Let me ask you, if she comes back, will you still keep Victoria? If you get rid of her, I will believe what you said."
"You... no, it's impossible. Ophelia is already married, she can't come back," his voice was a bit chaotic.
"I said she will come back if I want her to. It depends on your choice. Ophelia can accept your two children, but she will never accept Victoria..." The old lady's voice was a bit tempting.
Brandon finally fell silent.
Victoria felt a chill run through her body, her feet rooted to the spot, unable to move.
After a while, she finally escaped from the old mansion.
Back home, the butler looked surprised at her lost and confused expression. "Madam, what's wrong? Did something happen?"
"It's nothing... I just want to see the two children. You can leave now."
"Yes..." The butler was full of concern, but he was relieved that the Madam had returned. He had been worried that she wouldn't come back.
Victoria entered the room and looked at the two children lying in the same stroller. "Kate, Lucas, your father doesn't want me anymore. What should I do..."
"Maybe I shouldn't have deluded myself into thinking that I could stay. Originally, if he found out the truth, he might not even want you two. But now, at least he is willing to sacrifice his life for you. He still loves you both."
She caressed the two pure little faces and murmured to herself. Brandon returned home very late, his expression gloomy, making the people around him afraid to even look at him. He stood by the window in his room for a long time without moving. Just then, there was a flash of fire outside. Brandon suddenly came to his senses. "What's going on outside?" He went out, and someone ran in to report. "Sir, it's not good. The warehouse outside is on fire." "What?" The warehouse... how could it catch fire again? His face turned pale, and he hurried outside. When he got to the door, he suddenly remembered something. "Where is Victoria?" He had been back for so long, and that noisy woman hadn't come out to beg for forgiveness. After causing trouble, wouldn't she usually come up with all kinds of explanations? "Madam... has been in the nursery the whole time, let's go see her." Someone quickly went to check on Victoria. But as soon as they entered, they were almost scared to death. "It's not good, sir. Madam took a child and ran away." "What?" Brandon was furious and walked to the nursery. After opening the door, he saw that there was only one child crying loudly inside, and on the table was a letter. "Brandon, I know I have caused you a lot of trouble, and I am sorry. I am leaving, taking Kate with me. She is a girl and staying here won't be of much use to you. I will take good care of her and let her stay with me as a keepsake. Lucas, please take good care of him. He is a boy and can help you secure your position in the family. So, no matter who becomes his mother in the future, please treat him well."
Brandon crumpled the paper in his hand. "Damn it, Victoria! Who gave you the right to run away like that?" His eyes turned red with anger as he glared ahead. "You dare run? No matter where you go, I will find you and bring you back..."
But at that moment, the butler rushed in, looking flustered. "Sir, something's not right... We found the young mistress's trunk in the warehouse..."
