Chapter 204: I'm back
"What?" Brandon turned around abruptly.
The butler was sweating profusely and spoke with fear in his voice, "Someone said they saw the young lady go to the warehouse, seemingly wanting to drive, but they heard a crash and it seems that because of that, the warehouse caught fire..."
Brandon's cheeks turned cold to the extreme. "Put out the fire, find people. If anything happens to Victoria, none of you will live!"
Brandon rushed to the warehouse.
By now, the warehouse was filled with flames.
The fire trucks had arrived, but it was clear that the warehouse was almost completely burned.
"No, Victoria, you can't run, you can't..." Brandon wanted to rush in, but Elijah looked at him and forcefully held him down.
"Sir, you can't, you can't go in. No one can go in there anymore, it's all burned down, burned down..."
"It's impossible, impossible..."
Brandon's eyes were bloodshot.
Why, why was it here again, why...
Victoria couldn't die... she couldn't…
The fire was eventually extinguished.
But everything inside had been burned, leaving only a damaged phone.
It was Victoria's phone.
No one slept that night. Elijah looked at the burned-down warehouse, thought of the person who might have died in the fire, Victoria, and their little princess Kate. His heart was wracked with pain. The butler started to cry, "Assistant Hayes, what should we do? It's all my fault. I let Miss go to the old mansion, and when she came back, she wasn't quite right. It's my fault for not noticing..."
"You...you let Miss go to the old mansion?" Elijah's face turned pale with anger.
But now, it was too late. Too late...
"I never thought that Miss was so young and...and...forget it. I will tell the master about this. You all can leave now. And this warehouse...should be demolished as soon as possible. It's too ominous..."
Elijah sighed, looking at the red sky as the sun rose. But Miss and little Princess Kate would never see such a beautiful sunrise again...
In the sky, a plane flew through the golden light. Victoria opened a window and looked outside.
She had finally left, but why did she feel so heavy-hearted instead of relieved?
She held her child and kissed their cheek.
"Miss, we will be leaving the country soon. Would you like something to drink?"
"Just water."
As if it were forgetfulness water, she left this place. She never wanted to fall in love with anyone again...
Five years later. Brandon suddenly woke up in the villa.
There was no one beside him. He stared blankly for a moment before remembering what year and month it was.
"Sir, have you woken up? We just received news that the person who donated their liver to the young master was an American citizen. That's why we couldn't find more information. But according to the hospital, it seems to have been a woman. We haven't found out anything else yet..."
Brandon frowned. "Keep investigating."
"Yes, sir."
Meanwhile...
Early in the morning, all the high-level staff of Qingyuan Construction gathered at the entrance, standing in formation and surprising the many employees behind them.
"I heard a foreign architect is coming. Why such a big fuss?"
"They say she's a prize-winning designer from overseas and our company values her a lot. I heard she even turned down an invitation from Huan Yu."
"Wow, why? If it were me, I'd definitely choose Huan Yu."
As they were talking, a car pulled up at the entrance. A tall, slender woman got out, looking like a college student, with a cute and delicate child by her side.
"Wow, no way. She's a female designer and she brought a child?"
Someone exclaimed in surprise.
Victoria got out of the car and led the little girl to the front. A man in a suit walked up to her, his excitement palpable as he tightly shook Victoria's hand.
"Engineer Griffin, you're finally here. Our entire company is here to welcome you."
Victoria looked at the crowd speechlessly. "No need, President Torres."
"It's an honor for our company to have you here, and of course, we will take it seriously," said the President Torres.
"Oh no, I'm grateful for the invitation," replied Victoria with a faint smile.
"Oh, this is..." President Torres finally noticed the child beside them and Victoria smiled, "She's my daughter."
The people behind them were surprised and started to whisper, "Wow, she looks so young, how can she have a daughter?"
"I heard she's not married."
"Not married... does that mean she's a single mother?"
"That's so strange."
Victoria didn't hear their discussion, but President Torres was stunned for a moment. He quickly smiled and looked at the child, "She's such a beautiful little girl."
The little girl blinked her eyes and raised her head, "Hello uncle, do you want to know how old I am? I'm five years old. Do you also want to know where my daddy is? He died a long time ago, and his body has not been found yet. Do you have any other questions?"
"..."
Victoria pulled the little girl's hand helplessly, "Amelia!"
Amelia stuck out her tongue and lowered her head, muttering, "I'm just trying to help uncle save some trouble. You don't have to thank me..."
Victoria could only smile apologetically at President Torres, "I'm sorry, my daughter talks a lot..."
"No, no," President Torres quickly replied, "It's a good thing that the little girl is smart! She must take after her mother!"
Victoria continued to smile apologetically, "By the way, although I promised to join the company, I may not be able to come to work in the next few days. There are some things I need to take care of at home. Once everything is settled, I will come to work."
"Sure, of course," President Torres replied. "Miss Griffin just returned and I'm sure she has a lot to handle. You can go take care of your tasks." The other employees were stunned by his response. They couldn't believe that President Torres, who was usually so strict with people, would be so humble towards Victoria. Victoria spent an hour handling work issues before arriving at a villa. "Victoria, you're here," Heidi rushed over and happily grabbed her hand upon seeing Amelia. "Wow, Amelia, your aunt has been missing you so much."
"Heidi Auntie, Amelia has missed you too."
"Alright, Amelia, don't think that just because Heidi is speaking up for you, I won't say anything to you," Heidi added.
