Chapter 79: Chapter 79: Family Reunion
Panting, Selena replied:
"I’ll explain everything once we’re safe. Right now, we need to head to the city center."
Balthazar nodded. No matter how terrifying the things they’d just encountered were, his priority was protecting Selena.
As they drove, Balthazar took the opportunity to explain:
"I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have taken pity on Amelia and taken her in just because her husband hit her. That day, she said her stomach hurt, so I made porridge for her. I didn’t expect her to spill it on me, forcing me to go to the bathroom to clean up. I swear, nothing happened between us. If I’m lying, may the heavens strike me down."
Selena quickly covered his mouth. She had been amused watching him anxiously apologize, but she hadn’t expected him to make such a bold oath. What if the heavens took his words seriously and punished him?
Wait, no, he was the supreme god now—who would dare send lightning down on him?
With a sigh, Selena said:
"I understand. I had only planned to go on a short trip, but when I came back yesterday, William and Amelia kidnapped me."
Balthazar nodded. In fact, it was by reviewing the security footage that he had tracked down where they were holding her. When he arrived, he found William and Amelia dead, and an unknown group of spirits or demons trying to kill them.
Thinking back, he asked:
"Why did that woman call me Rabanut? You don’t need to go into detail—just give me the gist."
As soon as he asked, he remembered that strange day when his body had undergone some bizarre changes. Although everything returned to normal afterward, the sensation of growing feathers and wings had felt too real to dismiss as an illusion.
Moreover, he was sure he had forgotten something important. But he had never suffered from amnesia, so how could there be a memory gap?
Selena was silent for a few seconds before answering seriously:
"You are the supreme god, Rabanut. I’ve already borne two children for you, but I was then sent back to the human world. You followed, but your memories and powers were sealed. That woman is a high-level demon who wants to kill you and seize your power to rule heaven. She’s currently being held off by the two attendants, but we need to get to a crowded place so she won’t dare act recklessly."
Screech!
The car swerved slightly as Balthazar’s hands slipped on the wheel. He quickly regained control, but his heart was pounding.
Were gods and demons real?
He wanted to believe Selena, but this was all beyond his comprehension.
"Wait, did you say you’ve given birth to two of my children?"
Balthazar suddenly recalled Selena’s drunken mumblings about being forced to be someone’s lover for ten years, giving birth to their children, only to be discarded afterward. He had cursed that man for a long time. Was he cursing himself all along?
"So how do I regain my powers?"
Balthazar didn’t care whether Selena’s words were true or false. All he wanted was to protect her.
Selena shook her head sadly. She was just a lowly concubine, and now she couldn’t even perform basic teleportation magic. How could she know how to break the seal?
"Maybe the two attendants know. Let’s wait until we’re safe and then ask them."
Balthazar had no choice but to follow her suggestion. However, the two attendants weren’t strong enough—before they could reach the city center, the car was blocked.
Hovering in the air before them was Madame, flashing a sharp-toothed grin at Balthazar and Selena.
Suddenly, a long tentacle emerged from behind Madame, crashing through the car’s window and pulling Selena out.
"Selena!"
Balthazar jumped out of the car in panic, only to find himself facing a formidable army of demons. Selena, the woman he loved, was suspended in the air, struggling in Madame’s grip.
"Let her go! I’ll do anything you want," Balthazar pleaded desperately.
"No, you have to run!" Selena knew that her death didn’t matter, but if something happened to Balthazar, not only heaven but even the human world would be in danger. Her mother, brother, and all her loved ones would die.
Madame tightened the tentacle around Selena’s neck, making her gasp for air. She sneered:
"The supreme god, weakened by love, has become pathetic. But I must say, I do enjoy watching your despair. So, I’ll kill your lover and the child in her womb right in front of you. Take your time and enjoy the show."
With that, Madame placed her clawed hand on Selena’s head. A slight twist, and her head would be severed from her body.
"Don’t you dare touch my wife and child!"
Balthazar roared. His entire body suddenly began to glow, and a massive pair of wings burst forth, sending Madame flying and rescuing Selena from her tentacle grip.
When the light finally faded, a towering figure with twelve pure white wings stood before them. It had the body of a human but only a single, massive eye in the center of its face. That eye held six irises, striking fear into anyone who looked at it.
Selena was stunned. Was this Rabanut’s true form?
The lesser demons scattered in panic upon seeing the Supreme God appear, but they were instantly obliterated by the barrier Rabanut had created.
The madam, realizing the dire situation, gathered all her strength and launched an attack toward Rabanut. She bet that he hadn’t fully regained his powers, and if that were true, this could be her chance to kill him and win.
The madam had guessed right—he hadn’t fully recovered his strength, but even half of his power was enough to destroy her.
"Die!"
The madam screamed as she rushed toward Selena.
Yes, Selena. Earlier, under the influence of Rabanut’s magic, the madam had dropped her to the ground. However, the baby inside her couldn’t withstand the supernatural pressure from both gods and demons, causing Selena so much pain that she couldn’t move.
Taking advantage of this, the madam easily grabbed her.
