Chapter 49: Final Epilogue: Jaylin's wedding
Everything was chaotic from everyone panicking to get everything done before Jaylin makes her walk down the aisle to freaking out about the decorations. Jaylin was her calm self as per usual and only worried about getting married to Travis even if it was at my parent's house.
Camille and I helped her get dressed after we got dressed in our bridesmaids dress while Meredith helped out with Jaylin's hair and makeup. All the guys and boys were meeting up at Jaylin's dad's house except for my new little brother, Timmy who was the talk of the house as every female in the house gave him attention.
My relationship with Meredith changed since I decided to stop being stubborn. I haven't called her mom yet, so far I wasn't embarrassed to call her my stepmother. We got along for dad's and Timmy's sake. And so far it has been going well. She had my dad not miss out on one of my hockey games.
"Did you invite your mom?" Camille asked Jaylin while she helped Janelle with her hair. Janelle and Ruby are Jaylin's friends she made in Los Angeles. How Jaylin got all of us to agree to be her bridesmaids is still a mystery to me.
"Not a chance." Jaylin answered. "She doesn't have the right to be here especially after every she has done to me, my father and Damian." She carried on. "Aren't you the one who taught us not to hold grudges and to forgive?" I asked noticing Camille's smirk as she crossed her arms in front of her chest facing Jaylin with a questioning look.
Jaylin looked at her and rolled her eyes. "You do realize that Sasha's got a point." She pointed out.
"Are the two of you really going gain up against me on my wedding date?" Jaylin asked quirking an eyebrow. "It can be your funeral and I will still give you shit." Camille scoffed playfully making everyone in the room chuckle. "I don't doubt it." Jaylin muttered standing up once Meredith finished up her hair and makeup.
"Just to be fair. You did take us in and taught us to be who we are. So don't be surprised when now and again we use your old wise words against you." Camille said. "Old wise one?" I asked throwing my head back laughing.
Camille stifled a laugh when Jaylin gave her a look. "You are not so far behind me, old lady." Jaylin teased her. "Pfft, please. I'm at least three years behind you." Camille huffed. "And I'm five years." I said getting piercing looks from both of them. "I will be visiting you both in the old age home in a few years." I teased. "I'm going to pretend that I didn't just hear that." Camille said slipping on her heels.
"Ready to say "I do?" Camille asked Jaylin. "I believe I am. I have been practicing four years for this day." Jaylin answered. "Every time you saw your reflection in the mirror you practiced to say I do?" I asked snickering, Camille joined in.
"I can't wait for the day when Brandon got you all tong-tied when he goes down on one knee." Jaylin said making me sober up. Camille quirked an eyebrow at the sudden change of my emotions. "Or have he already proposed that we don't know about?" Camille asked.
"No, of course. He got us a house in Los Angeles as he is moving there in a few months because of an offer he got." I told them. "That's great." Jaylin said smiling. "It's perfect actually because I'm officially a hockey player for the L. A team." I said. "We never doubted you for one second." Camille said.
"Now, let's get this woman married so we can break out the drinks and party the night away." Camille said shooing everyone out of the bedroom. We took a few group photos before helping Jaylin get in at the back of the limo her dad arranged for her.
"Can we expect you rolling in on a skateboard?" Camille teased as we were sitting with Jaylin in the back of the limo. Jaylin laughed and shook her head. "Maybe you can roll in on your skateboard." I teased Camille. "Listen, kid, I think you will do better than me because you are a star on the back of that thing. Give me my bike and I'm happy." Camille answered.
"Kid? Come on, I'm twenty-one. No more kid for me." I said. "You are still three years younger than me so, I think it's fair that I still get to call you kid." Camille joked as she playfully bumped my shoulder with hers.
We looked outside the windows when the limo came to a stop. "Why am I suddenly feeling nervous?" Camille mumbled unlocking the door and getting out. "Maybe because you are the next one to tie the knot." I said helping Jaylin up and out of the limo with Camille's help.
"Corbin just have to wait for a few years before I settle down." She muttered not noticing that he was standing behind her. "What's that babe?" Corbin asked smiling. Camille looked at us with narrowed eyes before turning to face Corbin. Jaylin and I shared a knowing look when Camille just pulled up her shoulders.
"You want me to lie to you?" She asked him. "I know you guys are dying to make out but Jaylin is actually getting married." I said pushing them apart. Corbin only smiled while Camille scowled. "You can go tell them that we are ready." Jaylin told Corbin. "Sure thing, see you guys inside." Corbin said and placed a quick kiss on Camille's cheek.
"Aww, looks like he tames the little rebel inside of you." I teased her and dodge her hand. "You got to be faster than that." I scoffed. "Am I getting married without the two of you or should I get myself, two new bridesmaids?" Jaylin asked. "No, we are doing this thing with you." We muttered in unison.
Ruby and Janelle were the first ones to enter the church once the music started to play. We fixed Jaylin's veil before we too entered the church. I smiled at Brandon when I found him standing next to my dad with Jonah on the other side of him. I winked at Travis when I reached the front part of the church.
Camille stood in front of me when the church doors open and Jaylin's favorite song started to play. I kept my eyes trained on Travis as he looked at Jaylin with so much happiness. I then shifted my eyes and caught Brandon looking at me.
I might have been stubborn all my life and missed out on a few things but meeting Brandon that day was the best days of my life. He changed me, he helped me find my way back home and knowing that is going to be there in my future. I thanked the heavens for him every day.
Jaylin's dad handed her off to Travis and the smile on his face when he lifted the veil showed me how much he loved her. They took a step forward together and vowed together to be there for each other through sickness and health.
After the wedding, we headed over to the reception where we partied the night through and celebrating Jaylin and Travis's marriage. We danced, we laughed and we had so many drinks that I've stopped counting. But every time I looked to my side and found Brandon there I smiled.
Maybe I used to be a badass, maybe I was a rebel and maybe I got lost along the way. But I found him in my darkest times knowing I was a little broken and he still loved me.
I looked up at the sky and I can imagine my mother's smile. She was proud. She still loved me and I will always miss her but this badass had her life to live and she was going to do it with the man she loves forever.
"Till we meet again, mother." I raised my glass as I looked up at the sky and imagined her smiling down at me.
