Chapter 186: Heart-felt Conversation

Alec's life has fallen into shape. The sudden appearance of Elon and Ethan changed everything around him. But there is still one thing remaining.

Vanessa.

For days now, Alec had just been focused on knowing more about his children, playing soccer games, visiting amusement parks and other interesting places.

With these fun activities piled up, Alec and Vera couldn't spend time together or even talk.

They had not discussed privately what they both wanted from each other whether they were going to keep co–parenting or coming back together as couples.

Certainly, Richard would never stand in Alec’s way—not after all the love and sacrifices Alec had poured into their lives.

Refusing his daughter to marry Alec would be unthinkable. In Richard’s heart, the decision had already been made: a man who had given so much had earned his trust and blessing for marriage.

After a family dinner in Alec's mansion one evening, the kids refused to go back home with Richard.

For them, having a dad and reconnecting with him was the best thing that has ever happened to them. The love, joy and fun was unforgettable.

That Friday evening, Vera was supposed to return with the kids to her father's house but they insisted on staying with their dad.

Richard raised no objections. He was happy that the kids were now connecting with their dad.

Nothing could have made Alec happier. That evening, he took charge of bath time, splashing water and laughter everywhere, cooking one story after another as the children listened with bright eyes, wrapped in his warmth and love.

While father and sons took all the time to themselves, Vera walked quietly around the house, visiting every corner and space.

Although Alec's mansion was nothing compared to the paradise she lives in, yet she found peace and comfort there.

As she lingered in the dining room, she glared at the flowers meticulously placed at the center of the table. They were both lovely and beautiful at the same time.

A little smile snickered on her face. Then, we walked past the dinning, heading towards another room joined together with the dinning.

She guessed it's the kitchen. She has been to Alec's new home once but didn't get the chance to walk around.

Eventually she opened the door and she caught the sight of dishes and the well-designed cabinet, she knew it was the kitchen.

Smiling, she tiptoed in as if unseen eyes were watching her from the walls.

The kitchen was spacious and everything glittered including the tiles—they were both expensive.

She shut the door faintly . One by one, she took in everything around her, quietly admiring each detail as it revealed itself.

“Geogous” she chuckled, glaring at the cooking gas and the toaster.

Most of the time, she would hold a spoon in her hands and smile at it. Well, there was something deeper with that smile—the peace in her heart.

One step at a time, Vera continued admiring the things around.

But eventually she turned to leave, she suddenly felt a shadow hovering over her.

“You startled me.“ She jerked, her hands firmly clenched to her chest.“ W–when did you step in?”

Alec gave a quick smile, walking towards the refrigerator.

“ Long enough to hear all the things you've been muttering to yourself. But don't worry, I came to get water for my boys” he smirked, and suddenly stepped out with the water he came to get.

“Oh, jeez! He' s so whimsical” she exhaled, catching her breath and leaning by her back by the cabinet.

Then she decided to join Alec and the kids. Back upstairs, Alec had decorated one room for his kids.

The room was so cozy and the interiors were designed to suit the kids' taste. Teddy bears and other toys that keep children intrigued, flanked around the wall also.

“This space isn't cozy enough like what grandpa has in his house. Hope my super hero's don't mind?” Alec asked playfully as he sat on the bed.

“Well, I love it this way. It's awesome here” Ethan chuckled softly.

“What about you Elon?” Alec narrowed in gaze to Elon.

“Me too, I love everything…Just everything”

“Wow! Come give daddy a hug” Alec laughed heartily.

The boys jumped in his body, and he wrapped his arms around them.

Bedtime stories for the kids have now been the responsibility of Alec . It used to be Nanny Rosemary or Vera most often but the roles have been shifted.

Vera lingered in the living room for a long time before Alec walked down to her.

“It’s stressful being around kids, right?” SHe said, holding a slight smile on her face.

“ It's rather fun” Alec smiles radiated evenly. “I have never had this opportunity in my life before so trust me when I say it's fun”

“Woah, I literally thought you would be exhausted by now. I guess I'm wrong” she said, crossing her legs gently against each other.

When Alec immediately reached the living room, he exhaled and sat on the couch very close to Vera.

“Tell me how it feels to be a father?” She asked, shifting her eyes to him.

In-between, the atmosphere made Vera feel relaxed. She didn't feel threatened by Alec's presence. Rather, she had excessive peace and joy.

A smile edged up in Alec's lips. Instead of looking Vera in the eyes, he fixed his eyes to the empty air.

“Words can't express the feeling, Vanessa. It's deeper than what words can describe. Being a father is literally everything a man can ask for”

Impressed, Vera rubbed her hands gently. “This is the best answer I have gotten from asking questions like this?“

“You think so?” He asked her.

“ Yes,” she nodded.

“I wished I held them in my hands from birth” pain filled his face.” The feeling would be out of this world” he sighed.

Vera didn't speak.

Very slowly, he turned his gaze to her for the first time.

“ You must have had a hard time raising them all by yourself”

“Not quite challenging. I had a dad by my side who loved the kids. So, that alone was a huge advantage on my end” She said, her face darkening and full of pain. “ Just that most times, I feel bad for the kids. I wish they had grown up knowing you” she sighed deeply.

“ I must have messed up real time. I just hope the kids would find a place in their hearts to forgive me” he expressed with pain in his heart.
