Chapter 170 Trust your father on this one

Lucinda had a million things she wanted to say, too many thoughts racing through her head. But after hearing Leonard’s reasoning earlier, she knew that arguing with Love right now wouldn’t get them anywhere useful.

She looked at her son with gentle, understanding eyes. “Lord…” Her voice stayed calm and steady. “Trust your father on this one.”

Lord clenched his jaw tight, every single instinct screaming at him that this was a terrible, risky idea. Still… seeing both of his parents standing together on it left him with almost no choice but to back down.

After a long, tense moment, he finally gave a reluctant nod. “Fine.”

From that day forward, nearly all the responsibility for managing their parents’ massive business empire would fall squarely onto his shoulders.

The thought annoyed him way more than he wanted to admit out loud. The twins had spent years training together side by side, they attended the same classes, crushed the same programs, and learned all the same business strategies.

Yet somehow, only one of them ended up carrying the full weight of everything. It didn’t feel fair at all.

Not long after that conversation, Love packed up her things and made the big move to Los Angeles. Reality, however, turned out to be a lot harsher and more different than anything she had imagined in her dreamy head.

Living like an ordinary person came with this incredible sense of freedom she had never really experienced before. No security teams hovering around, no luxury convoys, and no assistants trailing after her everywhere she went.

She could walk wherever she wanted without constantly watching over her shoulder, and she absolutely loved that part of it.

But it also meant nobody automatically opened doors for her just because of her last name.

People rejected her auditions without a second thought, treating her like any other hopeful trying to break in.

Audition after audition ended in disappointment after disappointment. Days turned into long, tough weeks, and those weeks stretched into months that tested her spirit.

Just when she was starting to wonder if she would ever catch a real break, everything finally shifted in her favor.

After two long, exhausting months of grinding it out, she landed a small role in one of Danny West’s upcoming movies.

The part was tiny and probably wouldn’t even register for most people, but Love couldn’t have been happier or more thrilled.

She wasn’t chasing after fame or stardom anyway, she only wanted one thing: to get close enough for Danny to finally notice her.

Unfortunately, that dream proved way harder than she ever expected. Everywhere Danny went, he was surrounded by beautiful women throwing themselves at him, actresses, models, fans, assistants, you name it.

There always seemed to be someone trying desperately to catch his attention. The more she watched it all happen, the more her confidence slowly started to fade and crack under the pressure.

He was unbelievably handsome, the kind of man that countless women dreamed about from afar.

Getting him to notice just one regular girl in the middle of all that chaos felt almost impossible. Then one afternoon, fate finally handed her a real opportunity she couldn’t pass up.

She had been cast as a villain whose character tried to drug Danny’s character in one of the key scenes.

When filming wrapped up for the day, her heart was pounding so loudly she was convinced everyone around her could hear it thumping in her chest.

She quietly gathered every bit of courage she had left, took a deep breath, and walked straight toward him.

“Danny…” A nervous smile appeared on her face as she stood there. “Can I buy you coffee?
