Chapter 179
Chapter 179
SHANE
The sun had already gone for the day, and Alicia still hadn't returned from wherever the fuck she said she was going to.
I have sent her about five text messages, and she has not responded to a single one of them.
This is unlike her.
Alicia always responds to my texts pretty quickly, no matter whatever it was she was doing.
I pulled out my phone and decided to try again. I sent her another text, asking her where she was. This time, she didn't even read the damn thing.
My chest was starting to grow tight with anger. The one thing I hated was to be ignored. How dare she ignore me?
I tapped the call button at the top and dialed her number. The call disconnected as soon as it started ringing.
What the bloody hell?
I pulled my brows hard, and a deep growl rumbled from my chest.
I tried again.
The same bloody thing.
It disconnected before it started to ring.
Now, she's starting to piss me off. And I'm certain she doesn't want to see me pissed off.
I tried again.
My fist clenched tight by my side as it started to ring. This time, she finally picked up.
I began, “Alicia…”
“Stop calling her!” A voice barked, “She doesn't want to talk to you!”
That wasn't Alicia.
“Who the fuck are you?!” I groaned into the phone. “Give the phone back to Alicia.”
“That's not happening.” She shot back. “You won't ever speak to her or see her again. We know what kind of monster you are.”
My heart froze for a split second.
It seldom does that.
Why the fuck would she say something like that?
“I said, give the phone back to Alicia.” I said slowly through gritted teeth.
“Give to me.” A soft voice said from the background. That was Alicia's voice.
“What? No.”
“Beth, give it to me.” Alicia said, “Let me speak to him.”
I heard a soft gushing of air; the motion of the phone being handed over.
“Shane.” She called softly.
I knew something was amiss.
“Alicia, what's the matter?” I asked, voice dripping like honey, like
“You can drop the act, Shane.” She said, her voice came out coarse. “I know you do not love me.”
I let out a soft chuckle, “Baby, what are you talking about?”
“You know what I'm talking about. I know you have been toying with me right from the start, and why.” Her voice trembled, almost as though she had been crying. “I know what you plan on doing with our child. I know what type of man you are. I know everything, Shane. Everything. Your deceptive charms won't work on me any longer.”
My jaw clenched hard.
So the bitch has found out.
How? And why now?
I didn't bother sweetening my voice anymore. “Where are you right now?”
“It doesn't matter anymore. I'm miles and miles away from LA, somewhere you can't even dream of finding me.”
I slowly swung my foot off the sun lounger and stood up.
“Get... back... here... right... now.” I said slowly, voice deep and firm.
A pause. “So, you're finally revealing your true self.”
“I said, get back here, Alicia.” My voice grew deeper with growing fury. “You do not want to see me mad. Trust me.”
“You do not love me, Shane.” She quavered, “What do you want with me?”
“I don't give the slightest fuck about you.” I said coldly, “You're pregnant with my child. That's all I care about.”
She burst into tears. “Sh-Sha… Shan…”
A violent gush of wind; the motion of Beth snatching the phone from Alicia.
“Leave her the fuck alone!” Beth spat through the phone, “She's no longer pregnant with that devilish thing of yours.”
My hand started to shake by my side. “Now, what the fuck…”
“She got rid of it!” Beth said sharply, tone curt, cutting me off. “There! She aborted it!”
My eyes snapped wide.
“She what?!” I barked into the phone.
“You heard right, you murderous monster! Now, we have no ties with you. Don't bother searching for Alicia! My father will send you the divorce papers. You'd better sign it, or we'll be releasing this video to the press!”
The call ended abruptly.
The phone trembled in my hand as I pulled it free from my ear.
Alicia got rid of my child.
My precious, precious child.
How dare she?
How the fuck dare she?!
She thinks that running will stop me from finding her? As long as she's walking this earth, I'll always find her. And when I do find her, I swear I'm gonna…
Ping!
My phone dinged, breaking into my thoughts. I pulled the phone closer and glanced down at the screen.
Alicia just sent me a video, alongside the text, “Stay back, or this video gets released.”
My breath came uneven and shallow as I tapped on the video, eyes widening as it started to play.
It was a video… of me… deliciously taking that miserable woman's life… recorded… by Jones.
Jones… recorded… me.
Jones recorded me.
Haha.
But how did he…
Ahhh.
That necklace.
It has a hidden camera.
I get it now.
He recorded me.
And sent it to Alicia.
And Alicia got rid of my child.
After everything that I've tolerated from her just to get her pregnant.
It's all in vain now.
So, this is all Jones's fault.
It's his fault.
How dare he?
Haha.
How the fuck dare he?!
I stood there, watching the video with a wry, deadly smile tugging on the corner of my lips. The phone shook in my hand.
My jaw clenched so hard my bones stood out. My chest burned tight with livid fury. Rage pumped hot in my veins.
My hand tightened around the phone so hard that it crushed under the pressure.
I'm gonna kill him.
Jones, I'm gonna kill you with my bare hands. No weapon. And I'll make your death so long and excruciatingly painful you wish you were already dead.
I let go of the crushed device, and its remains fell to the floor.
I was still in my swim trunks, shirtless and barefoot. I walked heavily down the patio and darted upstairs to get the car key.
I didn't bother changing.
I snatched the car key and rushed downstairs to the garage. I slid behind the car and sent it roaring down the pathway.
My fingers tightened so hard against the steering wheel that it started creaking. My blood boiled scorching hot with unfathomable rage.
I have never felt this amount of rage in my entire life.
I have never wanted to kill someone so fucking much!
I gritted my teeth and stepped on it, driving way beyond the speed limit.
A few minutes later, I arrived at Pinnacle. The building stood tall in front of me. I didn't bother parking in the garage. I jerked the car to a screeching halt in front of the building and flung the door open.
I rushed out of the car and darted into the building, taking the elevator to the highest floor. It was a fucking hell of a ride!
Go faster, you fucking stupid elevator!
When the elevator finally stopped, I dashed out and hurriedly walked down the passage, placing my hand on the fingerprint sensor device.
The door buzzed, followed by the automatic “Welcome, Mr Blackwood.”
“Jones!” I barked as I burst in, eyes flickering to every corner. “Jones! Henry Jones!!”
“In here, Shane.”
The bedroom.
My fist clenched tightly by my side, I rushed over, pushing the door open with so much force that it slammed hard against the wall.
I took three furious steps in, glancing around every corner of the room.
It was empty.
“Hello, Shane.”
The voice came from behind.
I swung around.
There he stood, two feet away, a devious smirk playing on the corner of his lips.
Rage clouded my senses so hard that I saw it too late. The knife in his hand.
“Why, you little…” Gritting my teeth, I shot out my hand, trying to grab him.
That's when the little bastard drove the knife into my gut.
Hard and deep.
