Chapter 169: Chapter One Hundred and Sixty-Nine - It Couldn't Be More Perfect

(Hey, everyone. I previously mentioned I would do another two chapters, but after this one, I am going to add another one. A short one to round things off and with an author note at the end of the chapter.)

Alyssa

It has been such a perfect day. We have swum in the ocean, seen marine animals, had amazing food, and just relaxed. It is one of the best dates we have ever had. Sadly, we are on our way back. We had not long finished dinner. Now, we are watching the sun set on the way back. I love the peacefulness of the ocean and the sound of the waves. It is like paradise.

I rest my head on Wyatt’s shoulder. “Thank you. Today has been perfect.”

“It has, but it isn’t quite over yet. I still have something I have to give you.” He replies and kisses the top of my head.

I nuzzle my face in his neck. “Does this mean I will finally find out what it is?” I laugh.

He nods. “Yes, enjoy your champagne. I won’t be long, but no peeking. You have to keep your eyes forward until I tell you otherwise. Am I clear?” he asks, firmly, and it causes between my thighs to stir.

“Yes, sir.”

Wyatt kisses me softly, swats my ass and disappears below deck. I do as he asked and keep my eyes forward. I am curious what he has for me. I don’t need anything else. He has given me everything and more, but he is a man set in his ways. I sip my champagne and enjoy the stunning view before me. I soon get lost in it. It is an easy thing to do. It is a thing of beauty, the crystal-clear water and the orange sky as the sun goes down.

I hear Wyatt come back up. I am tempted to turn around, but I told him I wouldn’t. I listen to him move from behind me, his breathing abnormally louder. Is he okay? He doesn’t get out of breath. He is too fit for that.

“Wyatt, are you okay? Why is your breathing so loud?”

“I am fine. Don’t turn around, not yet.” He says softly.

“Okay,” I reply, confused.

God knows what he is doing. He has something planned. I wait patiently.

“You can turn around.”

His words come out in more of a squeak. I fling myself around to expect to be face-to-face with him, but he is on one knee in front of me, a ring in hand.

“Oh my God.” I gasp and cover my mouth.

He seems nervous. His hand is shaking. He takes a deep breath before he finally looks me in the eye.

“Alyssa, I didn’t know it was possible for me to truly love someone. I believed I was too broken to give a person all of me, and then you came into my life. You changed my entire life and made me a better man, even if we didn’t use to like one another. I never thought for a moment that when I asked you to pretend with me, I would end up falling in love with you, and you would become the one I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. I love you so much, Alyssa, more than words can say. I don’t know where I would be without you. You have become a part of me, and if I didn’t have you, I would fall apart. You didn’t only help heal a broken man, but you made me open my heart and love someone for the first time in my life. I don’t want us ever to fall apart. Will you make me the happiest man in the world and become my wife? Alyssa, will you marry me?”

I can hear the emotion and love in every word he said.

“Yes. Yes, a hundred times. I love you so much. You are the only man I want to spend the rest of my life with.” I reply without hesitation, tears rolling down my cheeks.

His lips grow wide with a big smile, and he relaxes. I drop down to his level. He takes my left hand in his, sliding the gorgeous ring on my finger. It is a stunning silver ring with a diamond in the middle and clusters of pink sapphires on each side. It is one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen.

Wyatt grips my face and kisses me with everything he has in him. I slip my arms around his neck, kissing back with the same eagerness and passion. When we part from the kiss, he rests his forehead to mine.

“I love you so much, Alyssa. I was so anxious that it would be too soon, and you would have told me no,” he whispers.

“I would never tell you no, Wyatt. It is perfect. You are perfect, and I love you so much. I was not expecting this to happen on our trip.”

“You really have made me the happiest man in the world, angel. Do you like the ring? If not, we can change it to something you do.”

“I love the ring. It is gorgeous and pretty. You made the perfect choice.” I gush, kissing all over his face.

He laughs but lets me do it. He gets to his feet, offering me his hand. I take it, and he helps me up. My eyes fell on my ring, admiring it not only because it was beautiful but also because Wyatt gave it to me. He brings me to his chest, hugging me tightly.

“I can’t wait to marry you, Alyssa.”

I glance up at him. “I can’t wait either. Does this mean I am in charge now?” I giggle.

He laughs loudly. “No, that is not how it works. Keep dreaming, though.” He smirks and bops my nose.

I snicker and playfully roll my eyes. “It was worth a shot.”

He strokes the hair from my face. “I love you.”

“I love you, too, Wyatt.”

We share another kiss and turn back around to watch the sunset together.

“You are stuck with me now, forever.”

I cuddle into his side and rest my head against him. “I wouldn’t have it any other way.”

I honestly wasn’t expecting it. Yes, we have discussed it before, but I didn’t think he would be ready. I honestly thought it would happen a year or so down the line, but I am so happy he asked tonight. I am more than ready to marry him.
