Chapter 31: Chapter Thirty-One - Drama I Don't Need

Everly

The day so far has been hell! Yes, most people minded their own business after Orson threatened them, but not all of them. People are still staring and whispering. I knew this shit would happen. A part of me wishes someone would uncover the truth, and this could all be over, but I don’t have that kind of luck. I need the day to be done, but we still have hours left. It hasn’t even been lunchtime. It will be in an hour, though. I need to spend my lunch with ‘my future husband’ to make things believable, which is bullshit. No couple spends all their time together. I swear, Orson made the choice for another way to annoy me today.

I head to the break room for some cold water. When I step in, I see Taylor and a couple of her friends. She is the one who seems the most pissed off. I can only assume because she is one of the many women Orson has had his dick inside of. I roll my eyes, wanting to walk back out, but I won’t. I refuse to let anyone get to me.

I walk straight over to the water cooler. I can feel their eyes on me. People need to grow up. I get some water, and I am ready to go back to my office, but Taylor blocks my path.

“Can I help you?”

“What do you have that I don’t? You aren’t anything special. He should be with someone better than you.” She hisses and hits the cup of water in my hand, causing it to spill over me. “Oops.” She adds, her friends laughing.

What are we in high school again? I have dealt with worse than her.

“An engagement ring,” I say smugly.

I don’t even react or comment on the water spillage because she did it on purpose.

“It won’t last. He will be screwing someone else in no time. He will be back in my bed. You wait and see. You don’t give him what he needs.” She snarls, glaring at me.

“Taylor, grow up. You are a grown ass woman, not a child or a teenage girl. Start acting like a damn adult. Oh, and trust me, sweetie, I give him everything he needs, probably more so than you. Now, get the fuck out of my way.” I snap and barge by her.

She tries to trip me up from behind, but fails. I quickly compose myself and walk out. I am not going to respond to her childish behaviour. I understand why she is mad; I do. Orson probably used her like he uses everyone else, but that isn’t my problem. She shouldn’t be taking it out on me. As women, we deal with enough shit in this world, we should have one another’s back, not fighting over a stupid guy, but I guess not everyone thinks the same way I do.

My blouse is soaked right through, and it happens to be white, which means it is see through. Not what I need! Once I am out of earshot of the mean girls, I groan in frustration. I make my way to Orson’s office. I don’t knock. I walk straight in.

“What happened to you?”

“Taylor. She is acting like a damn child. She accidentally poured it over me. I know it was far from an accident. This is why I didn’t want people here to find out. You are the one who screwed her and tossed her aside, yet she is taking it out of me. Do I need to worry about any more jealous employees?” I ask, the irritation clear in my voice.

“I am sorry. She is a bit crazy. I am not saying she is the only one I fucked, but she is probably the only one who will give you any hassle.”

“You really shouldn’t mix business and pleasure because it doesn’t end well. Do you have any spare shirts or that here? I am not walking around with my bra on show for the rest of the day.” I sigh and sit across from him.

“I do. If you go into the cabinet, you will find either a tee or a shirt, whichever you prefer. I always keep spare in case I am here late.” He answers, nodding to it in the corner.

I like how he ignored my comment about mixing business and pleasure. I nod and head over. I smirk and pick out the shirt. You can tell it's a mans one, and when Taylor sees me in, she will be even more pissed. She wants to act immature. I can do the same. I pull my blouse off right where I stand, Orson’s eyes on me, watching me closely. It’s not as if I have anything to hide. He has seen it all more than once. My bra is a little wet, but not enough where it needs to be taken off. I bring his shirt over me, and it hits me mid-thigh. It is a little big, but it is nice against my skin. I style it better, making sure it doesn’t look silly with the rest of my outfit.

“Thanks.” I smile and return to his desk.

A smirk curls on his lips, and he rests back on his office chair. “Mmm, you look good in my shirt. It would look even better with nothing else on and only a couple of buttons done up.”

I toss my wet blouse at him. “You can deal with that since you are the reason it happened.”

I exit his office without another word. I pass by Taylor’s desk and smile sweetly at her. She sends a death stare my way when she realises what I have on. I chuckle loudly and return to my office, closing the door behind me. I wonder how long this is going to last. How long will Taylor hold a grudge? It is drama that I don’t need. I have enough going on as it is without her adding to it.

I take a deep breath, run my fingers through my hair and focus my attention on work. I have a lot to do before lunch. I put my earphones in. Listening to music as I work always helps me. I shouldn’t be doing it, but I don’t care. It blocks all the noise out. I can work better with it on. Orson has yelled at me more than once about it, but it didn’t make a difference. He can’t say much about it now, can he? I can do whatever I please, and he can’t do a damn thing!
