Chapter 34: The Favor
"What favor?" His stares were making my heartbeats tumbling like a pro as it felt like I was on a hot seat. But why did it feel so calming to have his eyes on me? Lucky I was because I was not an ice cream nor an ice.
"Zen is inviting me for a mountain climbing. I am still thinking if you—"
"I'll accompany you. You have my back." He had just guessed what I was thinking! My system was suddenly rejoicing because of what he said. I was not asking him yet, but he already proclaimed that he would go with me. He also told me that I had his back. It was like I found myself a superhero.
But he got off his stares after he answered me, he focused his attention on the greens around us. I felt the relief when he did it. I did not want to melt just because of his stares. My heart was so fragile and defenseless.
"Really?" I asked casually, but with a smile on my lips. I could not be so happy in front of him even I was in so much glee within. I had so many debts to him. He gave me Projilda first and then, he would accompany me for the mountain climbing. Plus, his words of honesty and forgiveness. I was quite convinced that I could count on him, I was just wishing that I did the right decision for letting him enter my life.
"Yeah. I just told you about that thing minutes ago. And I sensed that you wanted to be with them, yet you were just doubting. Maybe you were thinking for your security earlier." He was correct. I was thinking of my security because I would be with the CINCO. I just could not give them my full trust...even if there was Mayb.
"Thank you very much, Draco. You're a good friend." I never thought that he would become serious about being a friend to me. Talking about security was something I never thought he would get involved with. He was really proving that not all people were rude. I knew and really believed to it. It was just that I would not easily trust people. Trust no one but yourself.
"No need to thank me. I'm just here when someone is in need." It just meant that he was a good person for helping a person like me. Anyone would be lucky if he or she happened to meet him.
"You're such an angel." I was not just pertaining on the physical aspects, but also on his within. He could be the guy that someone would wish to have beside her for infinity and beyond. He was almost the ideal guy. Almost because I was not setting aside the thought that there was no perfect being living here on earth, and because I did not know him well.
"Don't think of me as an angel. You can think of me as a blessing. I want to serve as a blessing to someone's life. That's one the reasons why I came near you. Help when you can." He simply never failed to amaze me; he was indeed a blessing.
"You're a blessing to me," I said with all my heart before I smiled. He truly deserved the compliments that I had said to him. It felt like I would often smile when I was with him. He deserved to hear how grateful I was to be his friend and how amazing he was for me, but it would be best not to tell him. He already knew it for sure.
"Good to know. I'm happy to hear that from you." He smiled without facing me, he was just looking around. Maybe the scenery was also giving him some positive vibes. "Hmmm. About what I told you, about the place where dust laid, spider web swayed, and serenity lived. That's not true. It's also not true that I lost my sanity. I was just trying to imagine being inside a place that would creep me out. Well, yeah. I try to fright myself sometimes," he explained.
It was so nice of him that he made it clear to me. I almost believed him. I almost thought that he really lost his sanity before. It was not cool to joke about losing your sanity. Yes, he did not joke about it, but it brought confusion to me. To stay sane till the end was one of my ultimate goals.
"I'm also happy to know that it's not true. No one deserves to lose his or her sanity," I uttered.
"Yeah, you're correct. About the thing that you were looking for inside your bag earlier, what is it? You're not obliged to answer my question. I'm not pushing you to give me an answer. I just asked out of curiosity." He still did not look at me. But I was staring at him every time that I would try to guess what was running inside his mind.
"It's the picture of my mama. Unfortunately, I left it in the house." I took a deep sigh as I formed a fist without him noticing my hand. "I am the kind of person who is full of doubts. Yet I know that doubt is in everywhere and it's normal to doubt yourself sometimes. Just be strong enough to turn that doubt into something that will help build your character, mindset, and your future self. I doubt myself. But believe it or not…I'm doing my best to understand myself, to give myself some time to fully realize things, and to be ready to be more open to people. I know that I will be ready someday. I'm sharing this to you because I want you to know where I am coming from. I'm thankful that you're willing to listen. Thank you," I said bravely. Without a doubt, I did not stutter.
Finally, I had shared a bit of my unspoken thoughts to him.
