Chapter 105: WON'T LEAVE YOU AGAIN.
Asher
I scoffed. “You've already broken the act. He definitely went there.” I said, putting the phone back into my pocket.
He blinked, lowering his head.
“Did he go there or not?” I asked.
“He did, but—” I didn't let him finish before I left the place and went directly to the location that I was sent to.
The place was relatively remote. I even had to walk before I could get closer to the headquarters. It was no surprise why no one could find them anymore.
I stood by a tree nearby, using it as my cover. Sounds of gunshot echoed in the entire field, it was obvious that something was going on in there but I wasn't sure whether or not it was Nathaniel’s group that was behind it.
Suddenly, everywhere went silent, I raised a brow, inching closer but in the next moment, a blast came from inside.
They sure did love blowing up things. I covered my head with my hands, waiting for the noise to die down. I raised my head after a while, the whole building was burning up now.
I waited for a while but nobody came out. My eyes widened. He could be in danger.
I rushed out, attempting to run towards the building when I heard the sound of the trigger being pulled, I turned to where the sound came from and the face left me shaken. The shot came at me, and I could only manage to shift to the side, thankfully I missed out.
A man stood metres away from me, he was masked but I knew he was probably from the Syndicate. Nathaniel had let one of them escape. A smile spread across my face.
It's fine, I'll help him. He pulled the trigger again but this time I was more than ready for his attack.
I dodged his bullet and pulled out my own gun, I pulled the trigger but he quickly dodged. Using the trees and leaves as leverage, I lowered my head leaving me out of his line of sight.
I could hear his steps closer now, as his legs against the grass made it easier for me to determine his position.
I created an opening and prepared to shoot but I was hit in the shoulder before I could. I quickly hid behind the grass. Another person popped out from behind him. Turns out it wasn't only one. I cursed beneath my breath, tearing off a part of my clothes.
I felt their attention turn towards me again. The first pulled the trigger but I moved from that spot quickly. I tied the cloth around the wound quickly and readied myself.
The sound rang out in the surroundings but this time he couldn't dodge it, the bullet had hit him in the stomach.
A smile spread across my face. The man held onto the side of his stomach, falling to the floor. The other fell beside him, turning between me and his fallen companion. I readied myself to shoot again but he fired his gun first. The shots continued, over and over again. It was obvious that he didn't care whether or not he hit a target.
I kept myself hidden while I kept avoiding his bullet but he was moving closer. He wanted to leave me with no chance to run.
Following the sound of his footsteps, I moved to the other side and when his gunshots stopped, I launched forward and grabbed his leg.
Startled, he shot aimlessly and soon he ran out of bullets. I pinned him down to the floor and didn't hesitate before pulling the trigger.
His blood splashed all over my face as I rose up to my feet. I scanned the surroundings, the one who I had previously shot in the stomach was nowhere to be found. I scoffed, he was already injured, he couldn't possibly go far.
I rushed out of the field and ran towards the building. The place was completely engulfed in flames, no one could possibly survive it. I moved closer and finally saw some of his men.
“Where is your boss?” I asked, holding on to one of them.
“I don't know.” He answered, his tone showed his exhaustion and blood dripped from his head but he still managed to move.
The rest all carried some of their subordinates with them. There was none willing to answer me. I staggered backwards, scanning the entire place but I couldn't find him anywhere.
No. I can't lose him. I walked into the building, ignoring the roaring flames in the side.
He could still be saved. I wandered around the building, avoiding the fire, and trying my best to search for him.
“Nathaniel.” I called out but I didn't get any answer but I heard the sound of gunshots coming from a corner. My eyes widened, he really wasn't out yet.
Approaching the place, I could already start to hear their voices, the one the sound of chaos had covered.
“If you don't leave now, you will be buried with me,” he said.
I couldn't recognize the voice but it was definitely not Nathaniel. It could be the leader of the Syndicate.
“That would be even better. I've dreamed of killing you for a long time, I will never leave till I see your corpse.” Nathaniel replied.
A smile raised on my face, I wanted to follow the voice but I paused. Nathaniel would probably not leave even if he saw me here. What I had to do was to get rid of the leader for him.
“I think I'll have to disappoint you.” The leader said, and I could hear him pull the trigger.
I followed where the sound of the gunshot came from. I sighted him from afar, the mask which was on the face of the people I had met outside was also on his but his was more sophisticated. He was definitely their leader.
I pulled the trigger and he managed to spot me but he couldn't avoid it. The bullet went straight through his head.
He fell to the floor and a smile spread across my face. I turned, about to find Nathaniel when I felt a bullet hit me in the stomach. I turned but I couldn't place the face, I fell to the floor and just at that moment, Nathaniel arrived.
