Chapter 104: JUST TO MESS WITH ME.

Asher

I stood up from my seat and walked to the window side. The cold breeze blew hard against my face. He still cared about me. A smile grew on face but what did he face before he could rise to become the don. How did he survive as a kid?

I turned, resting my back on the edge of the windowsill. I had to help him with this. I couldn't just wait for him to destroy the organization.

I grabbed my keys and dashed out of the room. His residence was surprisingly quiet when I got there.

I could practically hear the wind blowing against my ear. There was nobody in here, even the person that usually stayed at the door. I tried to push open the door and go in but it was closed tight.

Where could everyone have gone? Had he finally left?

My eyes widened, feeling the hairs on my skin raise. I circled the building, trying to find any opening that could help me get in.

I smiled when I saw a window open, I rolled my sleeves, about to climb when I heard a voice coming from behind me. I turned to catch the gaze of an unfamiliar face.

I cleared my throat, titling my head slightly. “Who are you?” I asked.

He stepped closer, a crease formed between his brows. “Shouldn't I be the one asking you that question?” He asked.

I studied him, my eyes scanning his body. Since I had visited his residence, I had never seen someone like this but his physique and the way he dressed did seem like he was one of Nathaniel’s men.

“Are you one of his men?” I asked, raising a brow. He didn't answer immediately, his eyes stayed glued to me and he parted lips to speak but he only nodded.

“What are you doing here?”

“Where is he? And everybody else?” I asked and he raised a brow.

“Why should I tell you that?” He asked and I couldn't help but roll my eyes. He really was one of Nathaniel’s men. He spoke in the same way as the rest.

“I don't know if you are new here but I've been coming here for the past few days. I know your boss very well.” I said, and a smile rose on his face.

“You know him very well?” He asked.

I nodded hurriedly. “Yes, I do. So, can you tell me where he is so I can meet up with him. I have something really important to say to him.” I slid my hands into my pockets as the man before me chuckled.

“You know him and you were trying to climb in through the window?” He asked, leaving me speechless. “If you knew him so well why wouldn't he tell you where he went to?”

I couldn't help but slam my hand on my forehead. Why did I actually think he would believe me?

“I really know him. I don't know how I'm supposed to prove it to you.”

“You don't need to.” He said, walking away.

“Wait. I still need to—” he didn't even pause to look back at me, he just continued on his steps. I rushed after him.

He stood at the door, about to open it when he turned to see me standing behind him. “Why are you still here? Are you planning to sneak in after me?”

I raised my hands into the air. “I'm not a thief. I am really here to meet up with him. You can ask his prisoner if you don't believe me.”

He raised a brow, he moved away from the door, walking closer to me. “You know he has a prisoner in there?”

“I've spoken to him quite a few times too.” I said, and he nodded, inching back a little.

“It seems you really do know him but everyone of them has gone on a mission. They've tracked down the Syndicate.” He said and I raised a brow.

“Really?” I asked, and he nodded.

So that was what he discovered and didn't want to tell me about.

“Where is the place?” I asked, and he leaned back.

“Why should I tell you? What if you want to sabotage the mission?” He asked and I couldn't help but scoff.

“You already know that I have connections with him, why do you still not trust me?” I asked, and he scanned over me with his eyes.

“Do you think you look trustworthy?” He asked and I rolled my eyes.

“Why didn't you go with them?” I asked and he blinked but he quickly regained himself.

“They needed someone to guide against you.” He said, and suddenly raised a hand in the air. “Wait. You aren't possibly a member of the Syndicate right? Did you come to rescue him?”

I couldn't help laughing at his statement. “The Syndicate would kill even those that had successful missions, let alone those who couldn't execute his mission.” I said.

He nodded, seeming convinced but his next words left my mouth hanging in the air. “So you are here to kill him?”

I threw my head back, and looked up to meet his serious expression. “Did he leave you here to mess with me?”

He looked conflicted at first but then he snapped his fingers. “You are actually right. He kept me here to distract you from going to find him.” He said.

My eyes widened. I checked the time on my phone and only then did I realize that I had wasted a lot of time here.

“Why are you willing to tell me that now?”

“They should be about done so it doesn't matter anymore.” He said and I couldn't help but scoff, closing the space between us, I held him by the collar.

“Do you know that he could be in danger? What if the mission failed?”

A smile spread across his face, the look of panic disappeared. “Don’t worry, he won't fail.” He said.

I scoffed, letting him go.

My phone beeped with a message from Dima. An address.

I looked up to him, and flashed my phone in his eyes. His eyes widened when he read the message but he regained himself quickly.

“Is this where he went to?”

“No.”
