Chapter 5 Tell to Grandma
Just as Bryce was feeling annoyed, his phone suddenly vibrated. He immediately pushed the negative thoughts out of his head. Especially when he saw that it was Lily calling him. He couldn't let her worry.
"Hi Lily, what's up?"
"Bryce, I'm in the lobby of your office right now. Can you see me?" Lily asked.
"You're in the lobby?" Bryce frowned.
"Yes, Bryce. Are you busy and can't meet me?" Lily asked with a trembling voice.
Bryce heard her heavy breathing, as if she were disappointed. Then he heard Lily speak again, "If you're busy, it's okay. I understand. A boss like you must be dealing with important matters. I'm sorry, then I'll just leave the chocolate cake mousse I made at the reception desk to be brought to your room."
When she said this, Lily's voice sounded weak and trembled as if she was holding back tears. Bryce exhaled deeply. He knew Lily had gone to a lot of trouble to make the cake and bring it here. There was no way he could refuse and make her even sadder.
"Lily, don't say that. I am working on something that can't be left unattended, but you are always my priority. How about Steven picks you up and takes you to my room, and I can enjoy the cake you made?"
Lily smiled, "Oh, okay."
Bryce put down his phone. Right now, he was in a very gloomy mood. He still hadn't finalized his divorce with Rossie, so he couldn't announce the news about his divorce.
If Lily visited him now, it would undoubtedly cause negative rumors. He didn't want his reputation to be ruined, but he also didn't want to disappoint Lily.
Now his cell phone was vibrating again, and suddenly he felt nervous again when he saw the name on the screen.
"Grandma."
"You idiot! Didn't you hear what I said?" His grandmother, Lucia Johansen, spoke harshly and angrily.
"Didn't I tell you that you couldn't contact that woman if you married Rossie? But how could you take take to the office? Even if you don't care about your reputation, you have to care about Rossie! Come here right now!"
Bryce couldn't say anything, but the question for him now was how his grandmother knew about Lily's arrival at the office. Did someone leak it?
'Grandma already knows, there's no point in hiding this problem anymore.
...
Upon arriving at Grandma's house, Bryce immediately entered the living room, followed by Lily. But when the old woman saw Lily, she narrowed her eyes at her, showing her displeasure.
"Tell her to wait outside! A cheap woman like her is not worth my time. "
"Grandma... "Bryce tried to defend Lily.
But Lily shook her head." It's okay, Bryce. I'll wait outside. There's something important you need to discuss with her. Don't go against Grandma! "
" But Lily... "
Lily continued to shake her head," It's okay, Bryce. I can wait."
Lily then leaned her face close to Bryce's ear and whispered, "Haven't I been waiting for this day for three years? Waiting a few hours while you talk to Grandma shouldn't be a problem for me."
Bryce smiled as he listened to her and let Lily leave the living room. "You're so understanding, Lily. I'll keep you company when you're done!"
Lily nodded and left the living room. She walked towards the porch feeling resentful.
'You old hag! Just you wait, when I become Bryce's wife, I'll make you suffer!' Lily thought angrily.
"Explain! What is that woman doing here?" Grandma Lucia tapped her cane.
"Mom, calm down..." Gerald, Bryce's father, rubbed his mother's back while looking at Bryce with disappointment.
"Grandma, I've been married to Rossie for three years, and there is no love between us. So divorce is the best option, after all, this is for Rossie's sake too," Bryce defended himself.
Lucia's face immediately turned pale with shock. She had enjoyed three years with Alice in the family, so she didn't realize that time had passed so quickly.
"You guys are getting divorced?"
Bryce nodded. "Grandma, it's time for me to end this fake marriage to be with the woman I love. I beg you not to oppose this. After all, Rossie has also signed the divorce agreement. We will take care of the formalities immediately so that we can get the divorce certificate and each of us can find happiness, "said Bryce carefully, hoping that Grandma would understand his intentions.
"So she agreed to let you divorce her?" Lucia was furious. She then got up from her seat, but suddenly her vision blurred and she almost fainted.
Bryce immediately approached to support his grandmother's body. However, Lucia, who was angry, pushed him away.
"Mom, they haven't gotten the divorce certificate yet. They only agreed to sign the divorce agreement; you don't need to think too far ahead. Remember, you just recovered from heart disease!" At that moment, Gerald looked so worried that his mother would have another heart attack.
"Oh God. What sin have I committed? My daughter-in-law Miranda is unkind and doesn't care about me, but why, when I have a granddaughter-in-law as good as Rossie, am I separated from her?" Grandma was hysterical.
Bryce stood awkwardly, supporting his head with his hands, while Gerald was confused by his mother's behavior.
"I want Rossie! I just wish for Rossie to be my granddaughter-in-law! Bring her back quickly! If you dare to divorce her, then I won't eat anything or take my medicine. Let me starve to death, and everyone will sneer at you for not taking care of an old woman like me! I don't want anyone else. I just wish for Rossie to be my daughter-in-law! "Lucia shouted like a sulking child.
" Bryce! Call Rossie quickly and tell her to come see me right now!" Lucia urged him.
"Grandma, it's useless. Even if I call her to spend time with you, our marriage is over. There's no way to continue it."
Bryce felt it was better to end this relationship immediately than to drag it out in a falsehood. He was sure that sooner or later, everyone would accept Lily's presence and forget about Rossie.
"Ahhh!" Lucia began to clutch her left chest and then fell to the floor. Bryce and Gerald were both shocked. Gerald immediately called the doctor, while Bryce carried Grandma to her room and laid her down.
Bryce had no other choice. He still had to call Rossie and ask her to meet Grandma.
"The number you are calling is not active."
"Huh!" Bryce grumbled, then sent a message to Rossie's cell phone asking her to come immediately. However, the message he sent was not delivered. Rossie had blocked his contact and really didn't want to deal with him anymore.
"Damn!" Bryce clenched his fists tightly.
