Chapter 6 Inspection
Meanwhile, in the meeting room at Nexus headquarters…
The company executives were waiting in the meeting room, looking anxious as they heard the news about the new manager.
"I heard that the new general manager will be a young woman."
"A woman? Will she succeed? The previous four male managers failed to lead the company; they even caused its stock price to drop several points. I wonder if she will resign or be transferred to another branch."
"I heard she is Mr. Cavendish's daughter."
"Does Mr. Cavendish have a daughter? As far as I know, he has three sons."
"Hmm, maybe she's his illegitimate child. Isn't it common knowledge that rich men like him have mistresses?" The crowd chuckled.
Soon after, they heard the sound of Louboutin high heels with red soles getting louder and louder. One of them glanced through the slightly open door. A woman in her twenties with a slim figure and long wavy hair opened the conference room door.
"Hello, everyone." Rossie smiled, radiating a dominant beauty. "I am your new general manager. However, I am not illegitimate. My three older brothers and I have the same parents. I'm sorry to disappoint you."
The people in the boardroom began to panic. Even though only one person had spoken, the entire room laughed in agreement. Unbeknownst to them, Rossie had installed a hidden camera with a microphone, connected to her cell phone, which is why she could hear their conversation.
"How dare they say that! You are the beloved daughter of the Cavendish family," said Rossie's secretary, Darren Wayne, angrily.
"Never mind, don't bother with what they say," replied Rossie.
Soon, the executives approached Dominic and Rossie. Rouland Kent, one of the vice presidents, offered to show Rossie around. "I want to go to the lobby and see the property showroom!"
Rouland was surprised when Rossie headed straight for the showroom and watched the employees serve visitors who wanted to buy their luxury apartments.
Dominic remained silent, as if invisible, and let his sister do whatever she wanted.
It wasn't even nine in the morning, so there weren't many visitors yet. However, the employees were already there, doing their respective tasks while chatting.
Rossie looked around, noticed a model under glass, and ran her finger over it. Rossie looked at her finger, which she had just wiped across the glass, and snorted.
"I just blew on the dust, and this glass is blurry," Rossie said, looking unhappy.
Rouland looked around and found the showroom fine. If the glass looked blurry, it was only natural because it was old. But why was this a problem for Rossie?
Rossie had a perfect visual memory, and she paid close attention to detail. Anything out of place would certainly attract Rossie's attention.
"You know that potential buyers will look at the models to choose the unit they want, right? If the glass cover is blurry, won't that affect their vision?" asked Rossie.
Rouland didn't argue, not because Rossie was Dominic's sister, but because what she said was true. "Okay, I'll ask the staff to clean it again."
Rossie just nodded silently, then looked around and corrected everything that wasn't right. After that, she headed to the show unit accompanied by Rouland and Darren.
At first glance, the unit looked neat, but not to Rossie. She didn't like seeing the sofa cushions not appropriately arranged. The room was damp and smelled stale.
The executives complained silently.
"I know you're secretly cursing me, thinking that I'm too perfectionist and fussy, right?" Rossie said calmly, but with a serious tone.
"However, you must know that potential buyers see this show unit to feel the comfort and make sure they are in their home so that they will say 'yes, I will buy this unit.' The luxury apartments we offer don't just offer beautiful designs and facilities, have you forgotten?"
Then, she glanced at Daren and asked him to open the master bedroom in the show unit. The housekeeping department manager immediately opened the door.
Rossie entered the room and checked the bathroom first, and she was pretty satisfied with it. Next, she sat on the bed and touched the bedspread. Her smooth face immediately turned cold. However, she remained silent and completed her inspection.
When she was done, she said nothing and headed to Dominic's room.
"What do you think after looking around?" asked Dominic.
"Is this the standard of cleanliness applied by Nexus Property? Your showroom and show unit really don't reflect a luxury apartment."
"Rossie, your grandfather started this property business. Back then, we wanted to expand our business by entering the property industry, and we managed it carefully. That's how Nexus Financial Group became what it is today. This property is not only a big problem for you to deal with, but also an essential place for the Cavendish family. We have too many businesses, and the apartment industry hasn't been doing well in the last two years. Besides, we've been busy with our own affairs. So... we neglected its management. "Dominic blamed himself.
" I'm sorry we made you deal with this mess. "
Suddenly, Rossie saw the piano in the corner of the room and was surprised.
" I ordered this piano for you. I know you like to play the piano when you're not in the mood."
Dominic looked at her gently, "I know you'll be busy for the next few months... If you're tired, you can play a few songs. You're good at it. I remember..."
"Thank you. But I haven't played it in quite a while."
At that moment, Rossie looked ahead, and her eyes began to water; deep sadness welled up.
"What's wrong?" Dominic was surprised.
Rossie didn't answer, her palms resting on the piano. Dominic watched her quietly, noticing a faint line stretching across her ring finger and middle finger. Although it was faint, he was sure that Rossie had been injured there.
"Rossie, tell me what happened," Dominic asked, his eyes fixed intently on her.
