Chapter 64 Difficulties
In the evening, Sophia's high fever finally subsided.
She opened her eyes and saw Raymond by her bedside. Sophia silently closed her eyes again and turned away, curling into a ball.
Raymond looked at her reaction and could only let out a helpless sigh before getting up and leaving.
After a while, Linda came in.
"Miss Sophia, did you argue with Raymond?" Linda helped Sophia up from the sickbed and asked her with concern.
She knew that Sophia, like Molly, never wanted to trouble others.
Before Molly passed away, she entrusted Sophia to the care of the Campbell family.
The Campbell family's power could rival the Johnson household.
Molly entrusted Sophia to the Campbell family because she knew they would take care of Sophia wholeheartedly. If Sophia were to be treated unfairly in the Johnson household in the future, she would have the powerful Campbell family as a backup for her to rely on.
However, over the years, Linda had never seen Sophia trouble the Campbell family.
"Linda, how is Jacob?" Sophia ignored Linda's question and asked.
"Mr. Campbell is fine." Linda lovingly stroked Sophia's hair and sighed. "Mr. Campbell told me that no matter what happens, you can always find him."
Sophia got out of bed and said, "I'm going to the bathroom."
"Alright." Linda helped her out of bed and escorted her to the bathroom door.
After Sophia finished washing up, she had a bowl of soup and ate some food. Sitting on the sickbed, she stared out the window in a daze.
Linda stayed by her side the whole time, wanting to know what was going on between Sophia and Raymond.
Linda asked again, but seeing that Sophia remained silent and didn't respond, she had no choice but to give up.
In the evening, Kimberly came to see her.
Startled by her pale appearance, Kimberly exclaimed, "Honey, who dared to treat you like this?"
Holding Sophia, Kimberly asked with concern.
Sophia smiled and said, "I just caught a cold accidentally."
"Just a cold, looking like this?!" Kimberly clearly didn't believe her. Pointing at the different marks and teeth prints on her neck and collarbone, she angrily said, "What is this? It's just too savage!"
Sophia lowered her head and forced a smile. "Do you dare to go fight him then?"
Kimberly clenched her fist and replied, "Yes, of course I do! Tell me, where is that jerk Raymond?"
Sophia chuckled. "Alright, I've heard you."
"Sophia, I'm serious." Kimberly sat down by the hospital bed, looking indignant. "If I can't handle Raymond, my brother certainly can."
Kimberly's brother, in this context, was Julian Campbell.
Julian's mother, Sutton Campbell, was Kimberly's aunt.
It was through Sutton's introduction that Molly had come to trust the Campbell family.
"No!" Sophia stopped Kimberly. "Don't tell Julian, and certainly not the Campbell family. I will take care of my affairs."
"Sophia, my parents have always treated you like a daughter. If you're being mistreated, they won't just sit back and do nothing," Kimberly replied with a crushed face.
Sophia nodded. "I know. It's precisely because they treat me like their daughter that I don't want them to worry about me."
"So how will you solve this? Will Raymond divorce you?" Kimberly asked.
Sophia smiled faintly. "Don't worry. If I can't handle it on my own, I will talk to Julian."
...
Perhaps because she had slept too much during the day, Sophia felt no sleepiness at all in the late night.
She only managed to sleep for a short while until dawn. Ignoring Linda's dissuasion, she left the hospital directly, went home to pack some things, and headed to the airport.
On this Wednesday, Johnson Group was set to release a smart car that had taken six years and a large amount of funding to develop. There needed to be no mistakes, especially at this moment.
Sophia had spent three months preparing for this release and wouldn't allow any mistakes at the press conference.
Therefore, even if she had to leave Johnson Group, she had to be present and personally oversee the entire process of the press conference.
"Sophia, you haven't fully recovered yet. Let someone else go in your place," Linda advised Sophia one final time as she saw her changing shoes to leave.
"Linda, my fever has subsided and I'm fine now. You've prepared medicine for me, and I will take it on time. Don't worry." Sophia finished changing her shoes and grabbed her luggage, ready to leave.
Linda knew that Sophia had the same temperament as Molly. Once she made up her mind about something, she would definitely complete it. After she had accompanied her to the Elevator Entrance and watched her enter the elevator, Linda quickly took out her phone and called Raymond.
"Raymond, I couldn't persuade Miss. She insisted on going to Misty Harbor, and she just left." Linda immediately reported to Raymond on the phone.
"I understand. Let her go," Raymond said warmly on the other end of the line.
"Miss hasn't fully recovered yet. If she has an episode at Misty Harbor..."
"Linda, don't worry. Someone will take care of her," Raymond interrupted her before she could express her concerns.
After thinking for a moment, Linda nodded and agreed, "Okay."
Raymond hung up the phone and immediately instructed Lucas beside him, "Book a room next to Sophia's at the hotel in Misty Harbor."
"The room Sophia is staying in is a regular single room." Lucas hesitated as he looked at Raymond.
Raymond arched an eyebrow in Lucas's direction, his expression enigmatic. "Must I say it again?"
"No need, Boss." Lucas acquiesced, promptly stepping out to instruct the secretary to reserve a hotel room adjacent to Sophia's.
No sooner had Lucas departed than the buzz of Raymond's phone cut through the silence. He glanced at the screen to find Freya's name lighting it up with an incoming call.
Raymond curved his lips and answered the phone.
"Raymond, I'm sorry, I can't go to work these days." Freya's soft and delicate voice came through as soon as the call connected.
"What happened?"
Freya heard Raymond's warm and gentle voice, which sounded surprisingly concerned to her. She felt happy in her heart, and her voice became even more gentle. "I accidentally sprained my foot and can't walk. The doctor said I need to rest for a few days."
"Okay, then rest at home. You don't need to worry about work." Raymond's voice was warm and gentle, but his gaze was cold.
"Okay, Raymond, you're so good to me. I'll handle work matters at home."
"No need, just rest well." With that, Raymond hung up the phone.
