Chapter 62 Take Me Away
Sophia returned home and stayed in the apartment all day, not going anywhere. She fell asleep late at night.
Once she fell asleep, she was trapped in various dreams and couldn't wake up no matter what.
Because Sophia had always had a good sleep schedule, when it was past 8 a.m., and Linda saw that she hadn't gotten up, she went to her room to check on her and was surprised to find that she had developed a high fever.
Linda took a thermometer and measured Sophia's temperature, and she was shocked to find it was 102.6°F.
Linda immediately called Katherine.
Upon hearing that Sophia had a fever of 102.6°F, Katherine said right away, "I'll come over. It'll take me 30 minutes. I'll notify Jacob to come right away."
The Campbell's house hospital was near Sophia's house, and Jacob was at the hospital, so he only needed 10 minutes to get there.
"Okay." Linda nodded, "It's the same for Mr. Campbell to come over."
Katherine nodded and instructed Linda to lower Sophia's fever while Jacob would arrive in a maximum of 15 minutes.
Linda hung up the phone and quickly lowered Sophia's fever. Ten minutes later, the doorbell rang, and Linda went to open it. She saw Jacob standing outside with a medicine box, his forehead covered in sweat.
"How is Sophia?" Jacob asked nervously as he entered the room.
"She seems to have a higher temperature," Linda replied uneasily.
Jacob seized the first-aid kit and hurried up the stairs.
Simultaneously, in the exclusive ward of a different hospital, Nelson briefed Raymond that Jacob had hastened to Sophia's residence, first-aid kit in tow.
Raymond, engrossed in a document, knitted his brows in concern upon hearing this and promptly inquired, "What's the matter with Sophia?"
"I don't know."
Raymond's narrow eyebrows furrowed, and he got out of bed, then instructed, "Prepare the car. We're going to Sophia's house."
"Yes."
In Sophia's apartment, Jacob examined her and saw that her temperature was too high, so he had to give her a fever-reducing injection first.
Jacob didn't dare to be careless. He had Linda change Sophia into clean clothes, and then he carried her directly to the hospital.
There was a blood clot in her brain, and the cause of this high fever was unknown. He had to take her to the hospital for a detailed examination to put his mind at ease.
As he was about to leave with Sophia in his arms, Jacob ran into Raymond, who was coming out of the elevator, accompanied by his bodyguard, Nelson.
As soon as Raymond saw Jacob carrying a sleeping Sophia in his arms, with a fever patch on her forehead, his dark eyes suddenly darkened, and he immediately walked over.
"Raymond, you're here," Linda greeted Raymond with joy.
"What happened to Sophia?" Raymond asked Linda, stepping forward to Jacob.
"Linda has a high fever. I just discovered it this morning," Linda said anxiously.
"Mr. Raymond, aren't you planning to take Sophia to the hospital?" Jacob coldly questioned, blocking Raymond's way.
"My wife doesn't need Jacob to worry," Raymond said, reaching out to directly take Sophia from Jacob's arms.
It was more of a snatch than a simple act of taking.
However, Jacob held Sophia tightly and refused to let go.
He wasn't blind. He could see the marks on Sophia's wrists and neck. He couldn't pretend not to see them.
After seeing them, he knew clearly what caused those marks.
"What do you mean by this, Mr. Campbell?"
Seeing that Jacob not only didn't let go but held onto Sophia even tighter, Raymond raised his eyes to look at him. His expression remained gentle, but his voice carried a strong sense of displeasure.
"Mr. Raymond, are you sure Sophia wants to go with you?" Jacob's face and tone turned colder.
Linda stood aside, watching as two men fought over Sophia. She hesitated for a moment and then spoke to Jacob, "Mr. Campbell, how about..."
"Jacob," Sophia mumbled, waking up groggily. She looked up at Jacob and pleaded, her voice hoarse, "Please, take me away!"
Jacob looked down at Sophia in his arms and smiled gently. He nodded gravely and said, "Alright, I'll take you away now."
With that, he lifted his leg and started walking forward.
However, Raymond's hands remained firmly around Sophia, and he didn't move.
"Mr. Raymond, did you hear what Sophia said?" Jacob lifted his gaze and looked at Raymond.
Raymond didn't look at him, his intense gaze fixed on Sophia in his arms. His voice also dropped in tone as he said, "Sophia, don't forget who you are."
Ignoring Raymond completely, Sophia closed her eyes and turned her face, burying it in Jacob's chest.
Raymond watched as Sophia rested her head in Jacob's embrace. It felt as if a heavy blow had struck his chest, leaving him feeling suffocated and in pain.
His grip on Sophia tightened involuntarily.
But Jacob didn't let go.
Two men, four strong hands, pulling at Sophia.
Sophia frowned.
"Mr. Campbell."
"Nelson."
"Mr. Campbell, I apologize." Following the order, Nelson immediately stepped forward and swiftly swung his hand towards Jacob's back with tremendous force.
Jacob's eyes widened, and the next second, he closed them and leaned to the side, falling.
Raymond immediately took hold of Sophia, and at the same time, Nelson caught Jacob as he collapsed.
