Chapter 44: CHAPTER FORTY-FOUR

Taylor was getting weaker each passing day and the food they were giving her was becoming harder to push down so most times she threw it up as a result of her pregnancy.

She had no accurate way of knowing how long she had been in the cell and she had only seen Jethro three times and only once was it intentional. He walked into the cell looking very old.

“You know, I thought by now, we would have figured out how to make your blood toxic. The only way to do that is to make my warriors take in dark magic and that would not work as they need to be under my influence. So I'm giving you an opportunity to save yourself.”

She looked at him, wondering why the scars on his face had never healed.

“I don't think I understand your sudden graciousness. What do you want? I'm literally tied up and can't do anything for your cause” she replied in a weary tone.

“You don't need to get up to do it. You just have to tell them and they will get it done. You comply, I release you. Simple.”

“What are you talking about? Tell them what?” She asked in confusion.

“You know what I mean. You must have done some research on your blood. Else, how would you know it could hurt me? So just tell them what to do. I'll be right back to set you free. My guards will take you straight to the Night Howlers pack border” he said, turning around to leave.

“No.”

He paused, then turned around in shock.

“What do you mean? You are ready to die for people you don't even know? Why do you fight so hard for them? I know how you were treated all your life. I'm giving you one more chance. Don't play with it” he said.

Taylor shook her head.

“No matter what I know about my blood, I won't tell you a single thing. For all I know, you will not keep your word. And what type of life will I live knowing I have condemned thousands of wolves to their demise? You may go to bed peacefully after all the atrocious acts you commit every day but not everyone is as damaged as you are.” She told him while looking him in the eyes.

“Very well then. Have it your way. But you will regret this action and that's a promise I intend to keep.” He said and left in anger.

In the morning of the ninth day, Damien finally found the herbs she had told him to find. But he was confused on how to get it to the cell without being caught.

He was always being watched which he felt weird about because he was Master's most loyal servant. But out of the blues, he was being searched at every turn.

He has asked several times if he had done anything wrong but only got punishments in return. Master hated being disturbed, he concluded.

Well, he was hell bent on getting this to the dungeon as he was getting more confused as the days passed. How could he intentionally kidnap a pregnant woman?

Everyday he wakes up, he forgets this fact and only remembers when he looks at his bedside table where he had written it.

“You helped kidnap the pregnant Luna of a werewolf Alpha and she's in the dungeon. Find a way to free her” the note read.

So he planned to take food to her but at night instead of in the morning. She was already struggling with the lack of nutrition but Damien told himself he would get her out soon so it was a necessary sacrifice.

He folded the herbs and hid it in a hawk's feather. When he got to the dungeon gate, it landed silently on his arm, handing over the herb to him.

When he had finished feeding her, this time adding the first protein she had eaten since she had gotten kidnapped, he brought out the package.

“Here's what you asked for. How do I take it without raising suspicion?”

Taylor had already given up on him finding it as it had been ages since they had the conversation.

“Oh, you found it? That's great. Quick, get a drop of my blood and mix it but make sure you tell everyone you are sick. Don't say what for and when you remember, don't let anyone know you do. You may be out for a few days and your spirit animal will take a little while to process everything.” She informed him.

“What spirit animal? I don't have any of that. I'm just a human with supernatural abilities”

“Don't be ridiculous. You are a special breed just like I am. One of the firsts. You will remember, don't worry. When you do, please help me get out of here.” She pleaded with him.

“Alright. I've told the cook to start giving you more meat but I don't trust that it'll be delivered to you but try to conserve your energy. Even if this doesn't work, I intend to get you out of here.” He told her, getting up to leave.

“Damian?” She called out to him.

“When you remember, don't let anyone know. Your life depends on it” she warned.

He nodded and left, the mixture already working in his system.

When he got to the top level of the dungeon, he was feeling so weak he had to hold unto another wolf to properly walk.

“What is the problem? Are you alright?” Jethro asked.

Damian was shocked at his concern. He began regretting what he was about to do but he remembered what happened to those who betrayed his master. He never forgives.

“I think I got bitten.” He lied instead.

“That is impossible. None of the wolves in transition has gotten to that stage.”

“Not by them, but by her. I need to go to sleep” he said, struggling to move but gradually making his way to his room, a simple one that consisted of his bed and a wardrobe.

Jethro knew something was amiss with his seer but couldn't pinpoint what it was. He had been taking her blood for over a week and his body was finally getting used to the pain that racked his system. If he truly had become a portal for dark magic, the first dose of the witch down in his dungeon would knock Damian out. So he knew his seer had become a liar.

He briskly walked to the kitchen that catered for the entire Pack.

“Hey you, who had been delivering Damian's food to him?” He asked the kitchen cook.

“Master you specifically said Lazarus be the one and he has been following instructions. He's the only one feeding the young wizard Master”

He shook his head and went to his room.

But as Damian disappeared, Taylor's life became more difficult.
