Chapter 28: Chapter Twenty-Eight

Finn:

Whatever Cirdan was called for, must not have gone the way the queen wanted it to go because she called for me. She knew it was risky for two of us to meet, she made sure she never had such a reason before but for her to call it means something serious.

Wearing my gift from the queen which made me invisible in every aspect but one, and it was one rarely used, I took the quiet hallways to leave the school so I can meet up with the queen at the area she had chosen.

Even as I walked, my conscience pricked me, I was betraying a friend of mine. Although being Iris friend started out as a job, the queen reaching out to inform me of what she wanted from me even before Iris stepped a foot into Faery. I had discovered that she was quirky and a very good friend to have, funny even I don’t remember the last time I ever laughed the way I did with her and the fact that she included two other people into our closely knitted circle and still in a careful way stated I was still closer to her than others, I realized that she was a friend I wanted to keep.

But long life the queen and all her commands.

You don’t get to go against what the light fae queen ordered you to do and survive. Queen Nambra was one of those people who should have been placed among the dark fae if it was possible for the fae to chance the type they are, but it wasn’t.

We were stuck with a queen who was sadistic and power hungry and who must be obeyed.

And I should have been just like her too. I would have been a dark Fae a long time ago too.

Instead, Faery chose to hide us under the canopy of light Fae, a name deceiving iris because she is a little partial to the words ‘light’ and ‘good’. Disadvantages of growing up with humans I guess.

“You took your bloody time in arrive Finn.” A voice said behind me, I felt fingers ghosting my neck, I stiffened, not making any sudden movement, unless I wanted my neck off. It seems that Queen Nambra was in a much angrier mood than I anticipated

“I had to wait until nobody was around and everywhere was quiet, so I would not run into somebody that could report my actions back to Iris.” I stuttered out, angry with myself at the little boy I turn to anytime I am faced with this woman, a woman who has shown me multiple times the danger of not obeying her.

The queen chuckled even as her fingers slide off my person. “And that is the only excuse that you could have given that would change my mind about changing the state of you neck.” Her breath whispered passed my neck.

My chest loosened some more, no more so constricted that every single breathe I took was pain to me.

“It is not an excuse; I am fully dedicated to whatever your majesty wishes, and I need to be in the best position for that to happen.” I responded and she nodded as she walked to my front, making me relax more.

“Good and I would need to make use of the best position of yours.” Queen Nambra responded and when I looked confused she smiled.

“My child and her father seem to think that it is okay that Iris does not get the training she needs which is not part of my plans. She needs to be trained, she needs to be trained and my pet in her needs to be unleased.”

“Your pet in her…” I asked confused.

“You don’t think that one of the reasons why I am always in school is because she is the only one I am caring for, she is nothing but a host, that’s all she very was and now the time is almost upon us for her to transform.” Queen Nambra said with a glint in her eyes that brought fear down my spine, what on faery and all we consider as holy to each race is the queen of the light fae up to?

She turned her face to me with a frown, her mood now subdued as if someone took the wind out of her sails. The complete change in her was frightening even more than other changes. Like she switches between emotions to display. “She cannot do that if her own hold on her body is too strong and we cannot use any other means to make her open up.”

“So, what do you want me to do?” I asked.

“What else other than to convince my daughter the error of her choice.” The queen smiled.

“I still don’t understand you; I am sorry my queen, but you would have to be clearer about what you want me to do.” Of course, I get where she was going with her words, but I was not going to make the assumption without her spelling it out for me. If it was what I was thinking then that is an act of terrorism against two very prominent race, and I was already shaking.

Allowing the queen to spare my life when I was young was a mistake. It would have been preferable to died then than to died now being pricked by my conscience and with my family name ruined in all of Faery instead of just with the light Fae.

She sighed. “I really wonder where I get dumb subjects like you from, I would change all that in due time though. I know I will. What I meant is that. I want you to put Iris in a situation that would make her want to train her powers and if it would scar her mentally, the better because then she would not want the option of ever being powerless waiting for a man to come save her.” The queen snorted.

“And I don’t know how you are going to do it but make sure that you are the one chosen to teach her about her powers. There are a lot of specific things I want to teach her through you, understand?”

I nodded, not trusting my mouth to blurt out how crazy the queen seemed to me just so she could end my life before I betrayed Iris in an unforgiveable manner.

“Good. Iris would have no idea what hit her, nobody would.” The queen smiled.

Heavens help us all.
