Chapter 27: Chapter Twenty-Seven
Cirdan:
Something was wrong, Iris did not come out from the tests for a very long time and when the door opened again it was a teacher running out. I was already going insane; it took me thirty minutes afterwards to get something out of the panel. Iris test was something different, she broke through their powers.
That has never happened before, not even me who was a step above her could do so. What the hell was happening?
“You need to calm down, you pacing around is giving me a headache, even worst that when Orion chases his tail.” Vane complained.
I paused to address him. “Nope, it is not total strange that you name a feral wolf Orion, and he is your pet, not strange at all.”
Vane grinned at me. “Thanks.” Then he buried his elbow in his brother side. “I told you that my actions were normal.”
Vine rolled his eyes. “Forgive my brother, he really was dropped a lot on his head when he was young.”
“I wonder what might have gone wrong.” Finn mused but I shook my head.
“Nothing has gone wrong; this must be a huge misunderstanding or something.”
When I was called to the principal’s office, I tripped over my own feet in my haste to answer the summons which I knew must be from Iris. I was worried about Iris and was not bothered to hide the fact from others. I knew that others were speculating and the ones who already were before having arrived at their conclusion, but I did not care, I just wanted to meet my mate and confirm with my own eyes that she was okay.
I got to the office before who came to call me and when I saw iris sitting between her parents looking small and drained, I breathed a sigh of relief, at least physical she was okay.
At the escape of air from my mouth, her head snapped up and when she locked eyes with me, I saw her body release some of its tension before she got up and ran into my open arms.
“The next test we take to leave the school, we will do it together, I don’t want to part from you or experience what I just did every again.” I whispered to her as I kissed her hair.
“Enough you two, come have a seat.” Her mother ordered while her father glared at his wife.
“It would do you well to realize that he is my subject not yours to command and she is my daughter too.”
The queen rolled her eyes as she started tapping her foot on the ground to show her impatience at us.
I wanted to ignore her, but I knew better, I walked with Iris in my arms close to the desk, but I didn’t take the seat in between her parents own. I sat down at one empty seat close to them and then plopped Iris on my legs, she clearly needed comfort because she didn’t shy away from the position because her parents were in the room, something which would have been the normal reaction for her before.
“What is going on?” I asked.
“I still think that Finn should be here, he is her best friend after all.” The queen stated.
“You just want someone who would support your point and he would do that not because he has her best interest at heart but because he wants to please his queen.” The king fired back.
“It doesn’t dispute the fact that he is her best friend.”
‘That doesn’t make him family still, we gave birth to Iris, so we have a say and Cirdan is going to be the father of her future children, so he has a say, any other person does not have any say.” Now I could feel my face getting red.
“For god’s sake, what is happening?” I raised my tone, not shouting but definitely not quiet instead, my mate needing comfort from me and her parents clearly fighting was enough to make me scared.
“I am a dark witch.” Iris answered my question. My heart melted at her frightened tone as if she was scared that I was going to act differently to her.
“So?” I asked.
She sat up, untucking herself from my arms. “Not just any dark witch Cirdan but the most powerful to ever exist.” She explained.
I drew her into my embrace once more and kissed her hair, don’t worry, it will not matter to those you call friends, the twins or Finn will not mind.” I soothed her.
“What about you?” She asked, looking at me with those warm honey eyes of hers that I really loved but this moment, they were filled with fear, and I did not like that.
“Well considering that our children would not have to go to ATI would be a small issue for my father but other than that, my side of the family is good. We would have some interesting family dinners.” I said and I watched as the fear faded from Iris eyes.
“But sad to bring it up, it is too early for your parents to start fighting over your children and they certainly cannot be fighting about your powers, it has manifested, and nothing can be done to change it.”
“They are fighting over the fact that I should train and protect myself with my powers or not.” Iris replied with a roll of her eyes.
“Do you want to learn how to protect yourself?” I asked my mate who seemed put off like the choice was not given to her before. I frowned at that thought, she would make her own decisions regardless of who her parents were.
“Hmm, no. I am not certain I want to learn. In my test, I came across something of a monster that I would have faced if I knew how to fight. I don’t want to have to choose between my fight or flight response, I always want it to be flight.” Iris responded.
“Just how did you raise our child?” The queen snapped at the Folk kings whose brow came down in anger.
“Clearly without you. Iris does not want to fight and that is it. She clearly takes my side of the argument.”
“Her mate has not chosen yet.” The queen turned to face me.
“I would clearly not go against the wishes of my mate.” I answered with a frown of my own.
The king clapped his hands together one, “It is settled, she is not going to fight.”
“What if she is in danger?” The queen protested.
“She has a mate who is not just top of his class but top of the school, he would protect her.” The king dismissed the queen who gritted her teeth in anger. I watched as something sinister appeared on her face before she blinked it out. I was the only one who caught it since Iris and her father were talking.
Iris clearly got the darkness from her mother, but the question was, her mother had a hidden agenda, what could that be?
