He had a cocky smirk on his weathered face, his silver beard mirroring his hair. He looked too strong for his age as he filled out the light grey tuxedo, a plaid handkerchief tucked ornately into his pocket. He nodded looking around at the now vacant dias.
“Seems like it’s ma turn Little Bird,” he said, his accent thick and not any I recognized. Bri scowled at him. “You can try tae kill meh, lass but it wulny work. Yae urny ready for aw the answers yae seek. It’s still tae be seen if yae earn them.
“What the fuck is that supposed to mean,” Bri spat. “You were always a strange one, I could never quite figure you out,” Bri admitted. “That you weren’t the worst of them, doesn’t get you out of this Silas, you will be judged.” Bri pointed out.
“Judge me aw yae wish, I care not. I did wit I needed tae dae, by you and I’ll stand by it. I never molested yae, I didny beat ye. In fact, if it wisny fur me, they wid hiv taken ye years ago. I stopped that, just like I stopped them from stealing yer only way oot.” Bri bristled.
“Forcing someone to drink their weight in liquor so you can make them more pliable to your will. Signing the contract to take ultimate control of a then minor’s entire being, while she is still underage. Being a lesser evil does not absolve you from consequences of your obvious actions.” Bri laid out the facts.
“The thing is Little Bird, you have admitted it wis an act, I didny force you to dae anything. Did I imprint the suggestion? Aye. Did you in the end make that decision? I think we both know the answer to that. As for your tests?” he said, rolling his eyes. “It was aw in your heed, I never took anyhing fae you or harmed ye. However, I needed to make it look convincing to the rest. So aye, I fucked with yer mind a bit.” He shrugged and picked at a bit of lint on his suit. Bri utilized his pause to look at Wyatt who turned his face from the dias to look at Bri, He linked me into their conversation. He holds no animosity to you, it feels like he is telling the truth but is also hiding others. I say get rid of him anyway. Bri nodded and turned back to Silas.
“Your name is on the contract, what did you seek to gain,” Silas’s lips twitched up as he reached in his jacket pocket and produced an old bit of paper. Bri’s eyes went wide seeing the contract before her. Silas ripped it in two.
“It means as much then as it dis now. Silas is just the name I prefer in this realm. It's no who I am, nor who I wish to be. As for what I wis to gain by signing the contract, access to you. There are bigger things at play here, Brianna of the Red Wolves. The time will come when you will learn those answers,” Silas said cryptically, with a smug sort of casualness that begged me to punch his face in. Sug’s darkness ambled forward surrounding Silas.
“I’ve known ye for a long time, over a millenia really. You have not lived this life long enough yit to remember. I know exactly who and what you ur. Your purpose, Only time will tell if this is the life in which everything comes together. So until I know, I will keep ma secrets.”
“Tell me what you know!” Bri demanded. The shadows dashed at Silas but recoiled billowing back. Silas chuckled.
“Ehh there will be nane ae that Little Bird, I don’t hink this will be the last time we see each other. In fact, I think oor next meeting will look quite different,” he said, his eyes roving over Wyatt and me before he winked and disappeared from existence. The room gasped.
“Fuck you, Silas!” Bri yelled and a soft chuckle echoed in the room. What the actual fuck was that? Wyatt let out a roar of frustration.
