Chapter 7

"I didn't even say yes! One-sided doesn't count as a breakup. You didn't even tell me why you broke up, why? Tell me?"

I looked at him and sneered : "You never think you're wrong and you never realize you're wrong, need I say more?"

"If you have something against me, you could have just said so, there's no need to be so shady."

I said that, and then what? In return, I got a comment about you not being unreasonable.

I also really want to ask if a girl really loves her boyfriend if she sees him caring about another woman and not arguing about it.

"Oliver, I'm really tired, don't come back to me, I don't want to have a pointless argument with you."

"Did you mind that I took Halfsia on a private jet the other day and wrote her name?"

You see, even in this case, he calls her always the close half-summer and me Diane.

Sometimes I thought for a moment that Victoria was his girlfriend.

I took a deep, calming breath and asked, "Do you know what day that was?"

Oliver was stunned for a moment.

I said, "That day was our fifth anniversary, do you know how much I was looking forward to it? We've obviously been together for five years and you lied to me on that day!"

"But I lied to you because I didn't want to make you angry."

To this day he thinks he's right, and I sneer inside, I'm so disappointed in him.

He even thought I was mad at him for that one time. He was hopeless.

"I'm tired from working all day, can you give me a break?"

Oliver wanted to say something and grabbed my hand to try and take me into his arms: "Diane, let's..."

Before he could finish his sentence, the cell phone in his pocket rang.

We were close enough that I could see the name bouncing on his cell phone screen.

"Half-Summer is looking for you again, and it'll be too late if you don't go."

I pushed him away hard and turned home without a care in the world.

Oliver didn't come after me, and when I walked into the hallway and turned around, he was gone outside.

I withdrew my eyes and smiled to myself.

The next day when I came to the company, I just sat down and my colleagues came over with their cell phones.

"Diane, you know the boss chasing his wife before? I didn't realize there was an aftermath."

I glanced out of the corner of my eye, Oliver in the video couldn't read his expression with his back to the camera, but Victoria, who was hugging him, had a smile on her face that wasn't hidden.

The two of them hugged each other tightly, and the air was ambiguous and romantic.

"It's really sweet, the two of them are too good together, I heard that a passerby saw this scene on the road, took a closer look at it as the pair that burst into flames before, and photographed it and put it on the internet."

"Really knocked, before writing her name in the air, so that the city had the opportunity to witness this high-profile show of love, really envious, Miss they must be happy ah."

"Definitely, look how much this boss favors Missy, maybe we'll hear good news from them before too long."

Hearing my coworker's words was like drinking a glass of Sprite through my heart.

Where he doesn't know how to be romantic, he just can't be romantic with me.

I sighed, suddenly feeling like that was all there was to it and it was time to let it go completely.

I smiled and joined them, "Yeah, they're quite a match, hopefully, as you all hope, they'll be fixed soon."

The two scourges had better be locked up early so they don't come back to haunt me.

7.

But I didn't expect that Benjamin, whom I hadn't seen for a long time, would come to squat on me downstairs at the office.

I walked out and he came face to face.

"Diane, can you go check on Oliver, he's lying in the hospital..."

"Does it matter to me?" I spoke indifferently, "I broke up as you wished, what's not to like about it?"

Benjamin was dumbfounded and struggled to speak, "I really thought Oliver was just playing around with you before, but after you guys broke up, I realized he was into you."

I let out a sneer.

He added, "The time Oliver wrote Halfsia's name ... did you look at it hard?"

I blandly said, "Didn't I wish them 99?"

"No, you really don't mind?"

They've asked it over and over again a million times, and I'm just so tired of it.

I gave him a blank look and pushed past him to walk away.

Benjamin rushed to catch up with him: "Diane, please, I'm begging you, can you just go to the hospital and see Oliver."

"Oliver has a stomach problem you know, he drank too much yesterday and he's still lying in the hospital for treatment, he's all that uncomfortable and he's still screaming your name out of his mouth."

I raised my eyebrows and laughed, "Don't you think Victoria is the best match for him, tell Victoria to go see him, maybe the cp you knocked on will come true."

Falling back on that, I walked to the curb and took a cab home.

Oliver and I hadn't even broken up yet, and he was setting him up with Victoria.

And now you're coming to me to get mad.

I haven't followed anything about Oliver at all.

I was so focused on my career that I couldn't even answer my mom's calls.

After two days, Oliver showed up on my doorstep dragging his tired body.

I pretend I didn't see it and pull out my own key to open the door.

"Diane, can you give me a minute? Let's talk this through." His eyes were slightly red, and there was a slight prayer in his eyes as he looked at me.

I saw his whole body dying, leaning against the doorway, blocking my way in.

"Have a fart."

His eyes lit up when he saw me relent.

I then followed him to a meadow.

Puzzled, I asked, "What are you doing here?"

As the words fell, an airplane cut through the sky and wrote I love you.

Three very big words, visible to everyone in the area.

I lifted my eyes in a daze and stared at the three big words in the air that stuck in my throat.

"Diane, I was wrong about what happened before, and I apologize."

"I do love you, and these three words are written for you and only you."

Oliver looked at me fondly, his voice so low and gentle it could drip honey.

The roar of the airplane in his ears accompanied his true words.

I froze.

Rhetorically, he asked; "Aren't you afraid Victoria will be angry if she finds out if you do that?"

"What's she got to do with it? Diane, I told you, I only think of her as a sister."

"Yes?" I looked at those three big words with indifference, without any semblance of pleasure inside.

"But you always favored her, and when she came to you, you would leave me for her. She's always your first choice, and I'm always the one you leave behind."

I looked back at him and asked seriously, "Do you really know what love is?"

This time it was his turn to freeze.

I smiled indifferently : "Oliver, what you're doing really doesn't make any semblance of sense, it's not the fact that you're flying a plane and writing her name down that pisses me off, or the fact that you're lying to me for her."

"When you really know what love is, you'll know why I'm breaking up with you."

I want passionate and pure favoritism, not guilt-filled feelings of loss.

Unfortunately, this is a truth that he still doesn't understand.
