Chapter 10
Alpha kaye's POV
Two days later, I was seated on a chair in my study, reading through a book, when I heard a knock on the door.
Letting out a soft huff, some words escaped my lips.
“Come in.” I said in a faint voice.
The door crept opened and Jasper walked him; I had called him over the phone to see me.
“You asked to see me?” He pulled himself a seat and sat as he asked.
“Yes, I did. You're the only one I can trust on this.” I said, and his brows curved in in confusion.
“What do you mean by I'm the only one you can trust? What's all this about?” He rather scoffed.
“It's about Olivia.” I said, and I could see the interest in his face as he sat up straight to listen curiously.
“What about her? Did you find her?” His voice was clouded with curiosity, with made me choked on laughter.
“What now? Are you interested in her?” I mocked admist the laughter, and he leaned against the chair once again. “I need to find her, and that's why I called you in here.”
“How do you intend to find her? She's also probably lost in the human world.” He crossed his arms against his chest.
“I don't care about where she is or how she's faring or if she's lost. I just need her to be found because of my baby that she's carrying.”
“You sure know that's cruel?”
“Stop it, Jasper!” I snapped as I thudded my fist on the table between us. “Stop making me feel like a bad person. This is for the good of the Pack, that child is mine and should be bred here.”
“I know right, but you should do this the other way, not this. I'm sure that Olivia was more than happy when she found out that she was pregnant for you. You chased her out of the Pack.” He paused abruptly as his brow curved in again.
I know Jasper too well, and I can tell with the look on his face that he had gone far and wide in his thoughts. Waiting for the bomb of a question he was going to throw at me, my heart almost skipped a beat.
“Why did Olivia decide to flee the Pack?” His voice was clouded with curiosity.
His eyes were glued to mine to check if I was going to lie to him.
“Well......” I cleared my throat and stuttered. “How could I know? And can you please stop with the eye contact games? It's making..... me uncomfortable.” I tried to keep my voice firm, but it failed me.
“You are keeping something from me, right?”
“How would I keep something from my best friend, who is also the Beta of the Pack?” I whined with a smile that played on my lips.
“Okay then. Since if you have decided to keep that piece from me, let's get back to what you were saying about Olivia.”
“Yeah.” I coughed out and adjusted my position. “I need you to find me two mafia bosses in the human world.”
His eyes glistened and his jaw dropped.
“What?”
“Keep your voice down, Jasper.” I said in a faint voice.
“You want me to keep my voice down, but you want to send me to the human world?”
“It's nothing special, Jasper. And we both know that they have no powers, you'll be safe out there.”
“And the mafia bosses? What are they for?”
“They would be the ones to find me, Olivia.” I scoffed.
“Really? Don you know how dangerous these people can be? Even their kind are afraid of them, and you want to leave Olivia in their care?”
“Would you find another means to bring her to me then?” I snapped with a stern look.
“Look here, Kaye.” He paused and kicked his lower lip. “You can't do this to Olivia, she doesn't deserve this.”
“Have you any feelings for her?” I asked in a suspicious voice that caught him surprised.
“What! How can you consider me to be such? I have no interest in her, Kaye, and you should know that.”
“So what's all of this about? Did I make you my Beta to question my orders?”
“No, Alpha Kaye.” He sounded more formal.
Though I didn't like it but I think that would be the best in this situation.
“When would you like me to set out for the bosses? And do you have anyone in mind?” He asked, still formal.
“No, I just want you to make your research right and fast. You can leave by dawn tomorrow. You have a maximum of three days to bring me the mafia bosses.”
“Okay, Alpha Kaye.” He stood up and made to leave, but suddenly stopped and walked back to me.
“May I ask why you want to send the mafia bosses after her, rather than the Pack members? Asking as your best friend.” He said in a cranky voice.
I gestured him to seat, which he did.
“We both know she's in the human world now. She might be lost, but I doubt it because of the man who's helping him. If we can get the mafia bosses, it would be easier for them to navigate their world, find her and bring her to me without causing too many problems. Rather than the Pack members that she already knows. They might even go to her like helpers.”
“That's excellent!” He scoffed and existed the study room.
I watched the retreating figure leave the room, and my eyes fell on the clock hang above the door. It was time for the girl to come to the farm. I can see her from anywhere in the mansion, but my room has the best view.
Too tired to go to my room and still having countless council files to attend to, I decided to watch her from the study room. I got up and saw her walking into the farm. Her eyes were fixed toward my room, she must have been expecting to see me too.
I was about to wave to her, to get her attention, when someone unexpected happened. Some loan sharks walked into the farm, destroyed her crops and took her away. My heart was shattered more at the fact that I could not help her.
Though I am the Alpha of the Pack, I still can't interrupt in the affair of the loan sharks because of the agreement we signed. Her voice and screams for help still echoes in my head.
