Chapter 78: 78

Travis's point of view

'Where's the Luna?' I asked through my mindlink. I mean, a few minutes ago she was right here, and now she was gone. Fuck! Dylan is going to kill me for this.

'Search for the Luna,' I growled in the mindlink. My wolf, Blitch, started sniffing around for our Luna's scent. Her scent was scattered everywhere, so I concentrated deeper to where it seemed most intense. And... got it.

I started running on my hind legs, following her scent. I left the fighting zone, moving to where Mason and the other warriors also fought. I kept on running, following our Luna's scent; the more I ran, the more her scent became stronger, and I sensed trouble waiting ahead, too.

"Argh!" Blitch halted at the familiar voice in pain. It was Allegra's. He was torn for a moment: whether to go after our Luna or Allegra.

"Argh!" she yelled again in pain. Now I and Blitch had begun running toward Allegra. I reached the place, and it was another bloodbath. Kaleb and some of the warriors were fighting off some rogues and witches. My eyes zeroed in on my female Beta, Brielle; she was at an end in her wolf form, fighting off some rogues about to get to Allegra. My eyes landed on Allegra; she was deeper in the woods, far away from the bloodbath, with some witches.

Shit!

They were doing something to her, holding chunks of wood and driving them into her chest with their magic. It was as if they were taking their time, purposely missing her heart just to inflict more pain on her. Blitch began running, ripping off the head of any rogue that blocked his path. As soon as I was almost close to her, someone appeared. He was dressed in a black outfit and a cloak.

He wasn't one of us, and I sniffed that he was a witch. He had the kind of aura that warned one he wasn't one of the good guys. My heart pounded all the more as he rushed to his witches who were with Allegra.

My hind legs moved faster, then halted just as quickly in surprise. I watched as this witch, who seemed even deadlier than a devil, grabbed the wood that had dived into Allegra's chest, and with a flipping of his hand, he snapped the necks of the witches—his own witches. Double fuck!

Allegra's point of view

I was pinned down by a strong force. I couldn't move a muscle; I just lay there as the witches kept driving the wood into my chest as if having fun with it. Hell, they were having fun—exactly the kind I would have ripping their heads off.

Urgh!

The pain was back again. I kept on screaming; then I felt a presence race to my side. I opened my eyes and saw someone—a male, dressed in black clothing. He had long black hair that fell across his face, covering one of his eyes. He looked dangerous, but I could tell he wouldn't hurt me. Somehow, I felt he was here to save me; well, that was in contrast to the dark, scary aura that danced around him.

He grabbed the wood out of my chest, his eyes meeting mine briefly. He had beautiful eyes. Deep hazel orbs. I loved them. He removed his gaze, facing the witches who had attacked me. With a raise of his finger, he snapped their necks, and they all fell to the ground. Dead. Well, that told me my savior was a witch. I smiled at him, but it was returned coldly, and soon he disappeared as quickly as he had come. I stared at his fading back.

Then Travis ran to me in his furry brown wolf form. His eyes cautiously inspected me before he howled in relief. I dusted the dirt off me, gathering enough strength to fight back.

Aderyn's point of view

I ducked on the ground, moving to a tree for cover. Then several arrows began to fly about, not stopping at all.

"Hic exalix." The arrows paused in the air. I smoothed a smile. "Herabils." At my words, the arrows shot back to wherever they were fired from. I heard a lot of groaning in pain.

I took the chance, running out of this blood zone. But I could hear loud thuds that still followed me at a close pace.

I removed the arrow stuck deep into my flesh. It hurt like hell, but luckily, I can handle hell.

As I was running, I kept missing the arrows shot at me. Soon my tracks halted upon the sight of the siphon witches before me. I turned around and I saw rogues in their wolf forms and more witches surrounding me, blocking all escape routes. I was surrounded, and what's worse, they were quite a number.

Before I knew it, arrows were fired. I shielded myself, but one managed to graze my cheek. Fuck! That's going to leave a scar.

"Enough of the run. It's over," one of the twin witches spoke. I was guessing it was the same one that kept on blabbing earlier.

"Oh love, it's only over when I say so." I broke the shield around me. Swiftly, I raised the missed arrows with my magic, firing them in all directions. Luckily, it pinned quite a lot of them. The twin witches had fused together, already channeling the magic around them and sending me flying into the air.

I twisted my fingers, chanting quickly and breaking their hold on me. I landed on my feet, flinging away the twin on the right. I was about to handle the left twin when "Behind you," I was warned. I turned around to find three closely shot arrows a breath away from me.

Before I could do a thing, the arrows quickly halted in the air. Then it surprised me; instead of hitting me, they were sent back to where they were fired from. Did someone just save me? I scanned around but saw no one. I turned around to see both the twins together now, then reinforcement came. It was the Pack's witches.

I ducked away into the bushes. I still felt the twins on my trail. I picked up an arrow on the ground and drove it straight at them. I watched the arrow pierce into one of the twins' stomachs. The other one looked like she'd murder someone. I wondered who?

The twin started creating a windy tornado in her rage, sending it straight at me. I channeled through it, sending it back at her while I was thrown away by the force.

I felt my body bustling through the bushes, then rolling down the sloppy ground. Suddenly, I felt hands grip me, holding me in balance. I stopped rolling, fixed on the floor while my supposed savior was on me. My blue eyes fell on his, and I gasped in recognition. "Reagan?"

His visible hazel orb shined, staring back at me. His body pressed on mine, straddling me while his hands held me tightly, protecting me.

"Reagan," I called again in disbelief. Why was he here, in person this time? Then a thought hit me. He came with them.

As if he knew exactly what I was thinking, a sly smile crossed his lips. "Well, nice to see you again, little witch." His icy breath fanned my face, but his smile remained, breaking the frosty gaze he had on.

"What are you doing here?"

"What else? To save you." His cherry lips deepened all the more with his smile. I was about to open my mouth to speak when, out of the blue, Reagan pressed his lips on mine. I was shockingly surprised. Before I could recover, a thunderous growl awakened the earth and a crook of fear in me.

I snapped my head in the direction of the growls and I saw a furious-looking Alpha storming toward us. He looked ready to kill. My eyes darted back to Reagan, who had a nonchalant, smiling look on. Just then, I noticed the compromising way he lay on me. Before another word was uttered, Reagan was ripped off me.
