Chapter 77
Dylan's point of view
I plunged out the heart of the witch, finally tossing the body on the grassy ground. I looked around and saw the rogues' and witches' blood and bodies scattered around.
I listened and could still hear more intruders in my territory.
"Alpha, there are more of them," Morgan mindlinked me.
I mindlinked the pack's guards and warriors who were in place already, ensuring no fucking rogue got past the guarded border. It was enough that they dared invade our territory, but no more. That was just as far as they would go.
"Kill every fucking one of them!" I commanded in my Alpha tone through the mindlink. I knew Nikola had sent them all. At first, I thought they were here for me, but I kept hearing them speak of the "little witch." I knew they weren't here for me, but here for my mate. Well, that angered me.
Brielle linked me. 'Alpha, I can't find Luna anywhere.'
I froze. 'Find her, Brielle.'
I shifted to my wolf. 'Keep an eye out for your Luna,' I instructed through the mindlink.
Then something emerged from the tree shadows, blocking my path. It was someone—a male, dressed in a black outfit and a long black cloak. He had long black hair falling to his face, covering a part of his eyes while the other was left visible.
My glowing golden eyes bored into his hazel ones. We started circling around the open space in the woods. He looked at me almost in anger. I guessed he was a witch and was here to hurt my mate as well.
I released a loud growl, racing toward him in my wolf form. The instant I reached his side, I shifted back into my human form, my sharp long claws aiming for his heart.
Quickly, he chanted some words, pushing me back. I recovered my balance, standing rooted on the ground. "You made a costly mistake coming into my territory."
The witch merely smiled haughtily. I hated him already. There was just something about him that got me all riled up; I would enjoy ripping his heart out and feeding it to the dogs.
I came at him, and we started lunging at each other...
Mason's point of view
I ran in my wolf's form, picking up Allegra's scent. As I ran faster, I also caught a sniff of our Luna's scent. They were no doubt together.
Then I saw them. They were a long distance away from the pack house, closer to the cliff at the east border, and also fighting with the intruders. They clearly didn't need much of my help, but I joined in the fight. I grabbed the leg of one of the witches with my sharp canines. I bit through it, slamming the witch to the ground. Swiftly, without sparing a second for the witch to recover, I plunged my sharp claws into her heart, moving on to the next.
'Alpha, I'm with Luna and Allegra. We are at the east border, fighting off some intruders,' I communicated with the Alpha through my mindlink.
'Stay there and keep them safe. I just have one nuisance to take care of; I'll be there,' he told me.
'East border now,' he mindlinked everyone in general, asking for more reinforcements.
I gritted my animal teeth together, loving the sound of them against each other. I wanted more blood.
Reagan's point of view
"Unum Donminus." Reagan raised a dark force at Dylan, and he merely shielded himself using his vampire gifts. The devil was certain this was one of the reasons the Master wanted him—a hybrid Alpha turned by magic. Under different circumstances, Reagan could have been impressed; clearly, this man was living up to the name. But unfortunately, at the moment, all the devil felt was strict fury against this hybrid.
He didn't know why, but among many things, he was angry at this wolf king. Reagan's hazel eyes glowed with darkness as he lunged again at Dylan. He was different from any other vampire he had seen; Reagan knew it. Whatever he had conjured or done to send this man down to his knees proved to be futile. Inasmuch as Reagan wished he had the time to teach this hybrid a lesson, he needed to leave. She needed him now. He knew exactly what to do.
Just then, a circle of his witch companions joined in the fight. Dylan's eyes scanned his surroundings, but never left the figure before him. He had an awful feeling in his chest regarding this witch.
A small smile crept onto Reagan's lips. He couldn't deny it: he loved the undecipherable look in this hybrid's gaze. The way his mere presence infuriated the hybrid—he loved it.
He knew he had given off a threatening aura. But he had to get to Aderyn. He had to get her away from this cursed hybrid; he spelled nothing but danger for her. He would make his Aderyn see and ensure she kept her distance, far away from the cursed hybrid and the shadow witch after her life.
One after the other, Dylan fought off the intruders that surrounded him. His amber eyes scanned around for the witch, but he couldn't find him anywhere. He couldn't find the male witch anywhere. With gritted teeth, Gunther growled. He, too, could feel it; that devil meant danger to him.
'Alpha, we need you here. They keep coming from everywhere,' Morgan spoke through the mindlink.
'I'm on my way.' Dylan sped away toward the east border.
Tanya's point of view
I sniffed the air for her scent—for the scent of the little witch. Raina had said we would know her once we saw her. My twin and I moved together, letting the magic guide us. Soon we arrived at a fighting zone. There were a lot of wolves fighting; there were even witches, too, though they weren't ours. So, I'm guessing they are from the Black Blood Pack. Thea sneered angrily at the lifeless bodies on the ground, some of which we recognized as the useless witches of the Kingdom Coven. They were so damn useless.
Our hands were intertwined together as we kept on moving. The sole mission here was to retrieve the little witch, either unharmed or barely alive. Either one would suffice.
The more we moved past the busy, bloody ground, a strong aura hit us. Our purple eyes shined together. I guessed we had found her.
At a near distance, there she was—the little witch Raina had been crazy about.
"So that's her," Thea stated with a little boredom in her voice. "I was expecting someone that would be a challenge, certainly not this."
"Raina told us we shouldn't underestimate her. Can't you sense her aura? It's powerful."
Thea, as usual, rolled her eyes. We held our hands together tightly. We were called the twin witches, also the siphoners. We were at our strongest when we aligned our magic as one; being alone, we were powerful, but together, we were unstoppable. A creepy smile budded onto my lips.
"Merberx exalix unum," Thea and I muttered out in the open, smiling.
Aderyn's point of view
'Brace yourself.'
I was warned by my inner thought, or rather a weird feeling that could sense danger. Immediately, I was dragged away by a whooshing wind, my back crashing harshly on a rough, tall tree before I landed on the floor. Crap!
I took a look around. I was no longer with the warriors; it seemed I had been dragged far away from that chaos. But by whom?
As if on cue, two figures appeared out of nowhere. They were females, and witches at that, all dressed in black cloaks. Well, it wasn't only their outfits that seemed to be matching; their faces were alike, too. So, I was dealing with twin witches.
I shoved my heeled boots to the ground, up on my feet, my blue eyes gauging the impending danger that moved closer to me.
"So you are the little witch," one of the twins spoke. I hated that tone of hers.
"And who's asking, bitches?" I smiled sarcastically, preparing myself for a fight.
The one who had earlier spoken sneered angrily, about to step forward, but she was grabbed by the other twin, who didn't say anything. Thankfully, my eyes zeroed in on the light contact of their hands; a small smile penetrated through. I could sense the magic surging through each of them, fusing as one.
Impeccable. They were siphoners. Well, that was usually rare and common in twin witches.
I got a hint of their next play, so I stood rooted on the grainy yet supportive ground. Spending years in the Organization taught me a lot: never underestimate your opponent; instead, be more calculative, think of several scenarios of how this would play out if I were both the opponent and the defender.
Unfortunately, these witches underestimated me. If I were either of them—well, trying to catch me—I would have nabbed me the instant I got the chance.
"Tinentum Elivatal," the twins practically yelled, their silvery-white hair glowing similarly to their purple eyes.
Without going through the same dramatic yell as them, I raised my hands, holding them together. The force they had conjured my way, I stopped with my hand, molding it back across their way.
"Enphilis." It barely came as a whisper. I saw the force hit them the next second, causing the twins to land anything but gracefully on the floor.
I lifted them separately with both of my fingers, swaying them harshly in two opposite directions. I took one more step closer. It was at that moment some of their men burst in from the shadows—both witches and wolves.
I dodged the attack that was coming from my side, and using my magic, I pulled out the bloody little hearts of the rogues at my back. My eyes shined with danger as something new and powerful took control. I felt a powerful energy around, and guess what? They could feel it, too.
The wolves were close to me before they could shift into their wolves in a second. I grabbed the wolf closest to me, snapping its neck instantly. As soon as I did that, I looked over at the others. "Quisia minus." The next sound that filled the air was the snapping sound of necks. Every one of my attackers fell to the ground. Before I could bask in my success, an arrow from only heavens knows where hit me straight in my arm.
Darn it.
