Chapter 38: Chapter Thirty Nine

Anna POV:

Chapter Thirty Nine: No good place like home.

I could feel the ground pounding away under my feet. The earth felt like it was calling me back to it. My muscles ache and I feel as if my wounds have probably opened again, as wetness drips down my shirt. But, I don't have a choice, I have to get back to the woods, and have to hide. I whisper scream to myself. I hear laughter chasing after me before I hear him. He thinks this is a game.

He is gaining on me. I try and weave magic and connect to the earth but only whips of light come out of my hands. Nothing is working, my lungs sting as I'm trying to run past brush and into the woods. Heaviness fills my body as blood is dripping down my stomach again. I've opened my wound. Fuck.

I collapse right before I reach the tree's edge. His hands reach around me and gripping at my shoulders. I try and fight him off and dig my nails deep into his arms, I'm hoping I've drawn blood at least when I hear him hiss in pain.

"That wasn't nice little one I'll have to teach you a lesson on manners later." A small smile slipped onto his face and just as fast as I noticed it- that same smile faded into frown with his forehead.

"Little one why did you run? Now I'm just going to have to check your wounds again."

I groan in response.

I'm helpless and this insane fae man is going to sell me like a piece of cattle.

I wake up and there is darkness out the window. A fire is warming the room and I hear humming. Faint and beautiful humming. Whatever the song is it sounds old, lonely, and beautiful. I smell soup simmering. When was the last time someone made me soup? When was the last time someone showed me comfort? When was the last time somone gave me a warm blanket that I didn't have to make myself? My comforts with the witches of the wood were few. It was truly every witch for herself over there. Hilda had promised when the attacks lessened our finacial prospects would improve. But, that hadn't happened yet.

"Ah little one I see you are awake, again. Let's not run around in the woods, At night they can be scary. But, you would know what's in the woods at night witch of the wood wouldn't you?"

I look up at him and by the goddess he is beautiful, his shirt is off and his tattoos are swirling all over his arms, I see his muscles flex and twitch as his smile widens. He notices I'm watching him. He sits on the bed.

My heart rate goes up an octave and I'm sure he could hear it.

I clear my throat. My back goes stiff and I sit up straighter in the bed. I feel warmth spread in my belly as the bed dips down and he sits next to me. The smile he has on his face does not fade, it's almost like he understands a secret I don't about us. He is just a man after all.

"My little one don't be scared. I've decided something. Something I want to tell you so badly. But, for now I have a present for you."

He's looking at me and his smile is wide. If, I had accurate words to describe it- his smile is kinda creepy and cute, his chest is bare and so close to me, instictively I flex my legs closed hoping he can't pick up on my wetness, calm down Anna he is just a man. Shifting under the blankets I make no moves and I think this puzzles him.

"Have I made you speechless little one?" He cocks his head to the side and moves a single strand of hair out of my face. A ghost of a smile plays on his lips. I don't know what makes me brave. I need Silas after all to save my sisters and it doesn't matter if he likes it or not. He will be the warrior the Goddess of the woods has promised us, the warrior that carries us witches out of prosecution and into freedom.

I must play along.

I must survive.

I clear my throat and put a smile on my face that I hope seems geniue. "What present do you have for me? I love presents but, I rarely get them."

Silas frown. "What is there no Mr. Witch of the Woods not looking for you?" I laugh a real laugh.

Silas frowns again. "What?! What did I say? Does no man call on you?"

He looks geniuely confused and inbetween fits of laughter I shake my head a resounding no in response. Silas leans in close and I can smell him. My mouth waters. He smells like the forest and chocolate. I have a irrational thought to lick him that I quickly let go of.

"No Mr. Witch? Who keeps you warm at night? It must be incredibly lonely to be there. I can help with keeping you warm at night if you want." His breath is hot on my neck. He knows, he knows what hes doing to me.

He moves back slowly and looks deep into my eyes, like hes searching for some connection. I won't give it too him as easily as he wants. "A witch needs no one to keep her warm. We start our own fires and cook our own meals. We don't depend on a man."

"But, who makes you cum Anna?" My cheeks run a deep red. I'm not usually intimated but that was a loaded question that I wasn't ready for.

"I don't need a man for that either."

Aht, Aht. "Liar Liar my little one."

Knock, knock.

Silas sighs deeply like he doesn't want this filrtation to end. "Who is it?" He barks out in a raspy voice that seems much darker then the playful Silas that I met on the beach.

"The Inn Keeper. You have a gentlemen looking for you. Says, he is here to collect on your debt and he'll light my inn on fire if you don't pay up now!"

Shit.

I dart looking around and catch Silas look back at me. I'm in no condition to fight. Silas holds up his hand to silence me.

"Trust me." He whispers.

"Never!" I whisper back. He leans me back. "Hide little one."  I shake my head but, get up and hide behind the bed anyway. Every step feels like a thousand needles stabbing me. Silas makes sure I'm safe behind the bed.

"Trust me." He whispers again.

"Never." I whisper back with a slight smile on my face.

He winks. "Too bad I guess I'll have to sell you after all."

"I'm coming. hold the hell on." Silas slips on a shirt and picks up a sword. He opens the door and a fat Inn keeper steps in.  "Hey, you gotta give this guy what ever he wants. If, he wants that whore you brought here. I'll give her to him if you won't."

Silas stands there and smiles.

"You think so?"

"Yes, this is my fucking Inn you're staying at. I'll do what I want."

Silas smile widens and I swear when I peek from behind the bed frame I see his eyes go black.

"Okay then so will I. No one owns me anymore not some fat ass horrible excuse of an Inn keeper that is for sure. You mother should have aborted you."

In two moves and Silas slits the guys neck. Boom he lands on the floor in front of the bed a puddle of blood spilling from his neck.
