Chapter 113: He wants to marry me

Hillary's POV

I still didn't mind. I just closed my ears and sighed. Or was it because I went to that party where Travis and I met? Does his father know and somehow take me for a slut or something? I didn't want to look at the scene so instead I rushed back to the hallway. Back to my room and not Travis.

The door shut behind me as I lay on bed angrily. Was there something I needed to do to prove myself? Is there? I breathed, shakily.. What do I have to do to prove myself?

I cried quietly till the door opened. I turn immediately to see Travis. He rushed to me and hugged me.

“I'm really sorry.” He apologized and I tightened my body around him just to feel the warm hug.

“I didn't see that coming. And it's okay, he's just being dumb. Everything he said is nothing but a lie. I assure you.”

Travis justifies himself and I nod.

“Okay.”

“I'm really sorry.” He ran his thumb through my face. “How are you feeling now?”

“Better.” I responded.

“Add Dr Chen? Did she give you anything?”

“It wasn't her. She sent a male doctor instead.”

“What?!”

I explained everything to Travis, ensuring he'll calm down and not be upset about it. He agreed, as long as he didn't attempt to church my body.

“Travis, who's that girl?” I asked with jealousy.

“ She's left already because of the nonsense my Dad displayed earlier but don't worry. Nothing to worry about. Elena and I are friends and colleagues for business stuff. Nothing else. I love you okay?”

“Okay.”

“Always and forever.” He kissed my lips.

Some hours later, Travis had somehow warned his father to stay away from his mansion and we were busy playing video games, laughing and all.

“So, how was work without me?” I rest my head on his broad chest and he rubs my back while handling the game pad, focusing on the screen.

“Well, boring and boring. If you were there, it'd be better.” He complained..

“I can resume tomorrow.”

“Are you sure? You still feel unwell, I don't wanna stress you.” He says but with eyes on the screen.

“Okay fine. Next tomorrow then. But I can feel my waist pain slowly going away.

“Right.” He replied and we remained silent for a while.

I just shut my eyes, wanting nothing more but to be in his arms like this always. I only want the best for both of us. And what's best, our happiness. But his parents didn't want me. I sighed, watching the fight in front of me. Then, something struck me and I decided to ask.

“When is your birthday?” I asked but he didn't reply.

“Travis.” I called out.

“Yeah?”

“I don't talk about my birthdays though.”

I frowned. “Oh, so sad. Why? Did anything happen? You don't like celebrating birthdays?” I pressed.

He started groaning.

“Travis?”

“Oh shit.” He drops the Pad and grumbles. “ I swear, I almost had it.”

“Oh you lost.” My eyes peered at the screen which showed, game over. He exhaled and then poked my cheeks.

“What is it you were asking?”

“Nothing much. I just asked about your birthday. I don't even know the month.”

He rubbed the nape of the neck, rolling his eyes like he never liked the idea of me bringing out a topic like that.

“Truth is I've never been happy during my birthdays. Gives me a disoriented view of some past experience.” His hands wrapped around my waist.

“Do you wanna talk about it?” I silently begged.

“Uh, . Ain't necessary. Except it's related to the parents ' issue.”

“So when is your birthday? If you haven't celebrated it in a while, we could do it together.” I tilt my jaw to get a clearer view of his face and he locked his gaze on mine..

“ August 20.”

His lips pressed on my cheeks and I giggled, documenting the date in my head. I laughed out loud when he started teasing and tickling me around my body.

“Stop, okay? Let go.” I cackled, struggling to push him away but he kept me captive. It was silly and fun until we stopped laughing, catching our breaths. I hugged him tight, enjoying his presence. Something bothered me and I just had to say it out loud.

“Travis?”

“Huh?”

“So, um. There's something that has been bothering me and I just….” I shift my position, detaching from him. He gave me a sad look..

“Okay, spill, please.”

I clicked my tongue and tugged my hair behind my ears. “I hate that they think I'm not enough…. probably because I don't come with a big name or not some girl in a suit with a boardroom title. I'm a nobody and I …..”

“Hey, whoa, whoa.” Travis cuts me off.. “Where are all these coming from?” He cupped my cheeks gently, stroking my hair.

“You understand what I mean right? Your parents.” I whispered, weakly.

“Fuck em. They don't see what I see. They're only business minded.”

“I'm insecure, okay? I feel like I don't belong here, I feel like everything's fucked up. He keeps calling me a slut and stupid things. I ..I…I feel like a little imposter.”

“No,” he scolded. “Don't ever say that.”

“I just want them to see me as a human.” I cried.

“Hillary.” He tried hushing me but I had a lot to say.

“I'm I ugly?” I gasped. “I'm ugly right? That's why they can't look me in the eye” I panicked but Travis held both sides of my neck, with my hair tucked in. He made me look into his eyes.

“I love you!” He raises his brow. “I love you okay? They can't make my decisions nor can they ruin it. The only thing they can do is complain and that…..” he chuckled. “... is none of their fucking business. It's only you and you alone.”

I nodded after he made it clear but something was still off. There has to be something that made his parents act so irritated whenever they see me. It's either it's me or it's Travis. It's either Travis is hiding something from me and I had to find out no matter what it took.

I frowned. “ Even if we love each other, your Father would never approve and would keep on recommending rich CEO girls like Elena for you.”

“And what If we do something that would make them change their mind.”

“Like what?”

“What if we give them something they don't see coming? Something they can't control.”

“What do you mean?” I murmured, looking away.

“Marry me.” He nodded in seriousness and my eyes widened.

“Yes, let's get married.”
