Chapter 103: New Turn
Mary was done with her lectures for the day. After her face-off with Prof. Kyle, he called her into his office and apologized before handing her back her phone. When she tried calling back Dan, his number kept going to voicemail until ten minutes ago, he reached her and assured her that nothing was wrong only that he needed to see if she had reached campus safely.
Mary had been staying with Dan in his mansion. Most of the werewolves have moved back to their respective cities and houses to enjoy their newfound gift of transforming at will, leaving the two lover birds alone to enjoy each other’s company.
Mary was heading to the coffee shop when she heard Lucy yelling her name from a far distance. She stopped and glanced over her shoulder at Lucy running toward her, waving her hand in the air like a lunatic.
After lectures, Mary had been avoiding her. She didn’t know a good like to cook up her for the question she has asked. The best she could do is to avoid her but here she is running after her.
Lucy finally caught up with Mary. She stopped, placing her hand on Mary’s shoulder, and bent to catch her breath for a while.
“Whew—that was a long chase,” she said, brushing back her magenta hair. “So tell me, where have you been all these while? Please don’t tell me you ran off with a dude. Believe me, your parents won’t be pleased.”
Lucy knew Mary’s parents and she was certain they wouldn’t just fold their arms and watch their only child abandon her studies and run off with a guy.
Mary smirked but continued toward the coffee shop. She didn’t like to feel like talking about Dan to her and she sensed Lucy’s question to be a Scotty one. “Running off with a guy to skip school?” She glanced over her shoulder. “I don’t want to be a college dropout.”
Lucy snorted. “Then where have you been?” she said. “You got us worried, you know.”
Mary glanced at her with curiosity. “By ‘us’ you mean?”
“Simon and Jack!” she answered without hesitation. As they both continued on their way to the coffee shop, Lucy continued. “You know Jack might pretend to be a cool friend but the truth of the matter is that he crushes on you. So don’t go running off with a guy. It will hurt him.”
Mary snickered under her breath. “Just as you are crush on Simon.”
“Now you are getting it.”
Mary stopped and gazed straight at Lucy’s eyes. “Did Jack put you up to this?”
“No, he didn’t,” she said. “But frankly speaking, I know when a girl starts meeting another guy. I can tell from the look on your face and the way you are acting up now.”
“Please, I need to get a coffee.”
Mary continued on her way but Lucy didn’t give up, trying to find out the truth. She ran after her and continued with her questioning.
“Why not tell me the truth? Who’s the guy you are meeting with that made you skip school for a week?”
Mary stopped and glanced at Lucy sharply. She was confused and didn’t know what to say. Before she could even open her mouth to speak, her phone beeped silently.
She quickly thrust her hand into her pocket and pulled out her phone. It was a text message from Dan.
She couldn’t resist but open the text message- ‘I will be cooking dinner for you tonight. Try not to be home late! A million kisses.’
Mary smiled. Her smile was radiant, lightning up her entire face with warmth. She quickly typed in her reply- ‘Sure! I will be home early. Much love from here, honey pie.’
As she typed and sent her reply, she didn’t realize Lucy was peeping. “Honey pie?” Lucy’s eyes widened. “Who’s that?” she asked sharply. She has been observing the smiles and joy written all over Mary and she couldn’t resist the urge to peep.
Unable to get her answer, she quickly took Mary’s phone out of her hand.
Mary glared at her and hastily collected her phone. “Give me that!”
Mary didn’t put up a fight with her friend. She lashed out to her for taking her phone forcefully. All she did was walk out on her friend in protest of her action to invade her privacy.
Lucy’s face was distorted with rage. She was furious about Mary keeping secrets. She believed her friend was already making out with the secret lover, leaving her brother, Jack to crush in vain. She grabbed Mary’s arm and pulled her back.
“How could you?” The feeling of violent anger that would be difficult to control was about to be unleashed. “My brother loves you…”
Mary shrugged. “Please, let’s not do this.” She still did not want to explain anything to Lucy.
Lucy hissed harshly. “I thought we were friends? How could you leave my brother in the dark, thinking that he’s going to have you as his girlfriend?”
Mary squirmed uncomfortably. She still didn’t want to explain anything to Lucy or tell her about Dan. “I better get going,” she said, taking one step away from Lucy.
“Wait!” Lucy said, digging something out of her bag. She pulled out a pen and a piece of paper. “Give that dude’s number. I must warn him that you are taken.”
Mary cast a scornful sideway gaze at her. “That’s not true. You know that?” Jack has never professed his feelings yet.
She turned and started walking away from Lucy.
Lucy tightened her chin up, wanting to snap back harshly at Mary. Her mind raced with evil thoughts. She can’t help but meditate on the thoughts to make it a reality. ‘How could she do this to Jack? Who is even that dude she chose over my charming brother?’
“Having a hard time?” a voice said from behind.
Lucy turned with haste and made a profile of a pretty lady dressed in black jeans and a white top. Her long gold hair rested well on her shoulders.
“Who are you?” she inquired with haste. She can’t recall seeing her around.
“My name is Jasmine Dracula and we can be of help with each other.” She breaks into a huge smile and continues on her way to Lucy. “So, do you want to hear what I want to say?”

The old mansion.
Dean laughed repeatedly. “All of a sudden, you want to offer your help to bring down my brother?” He paused and peered at Scott. “And why should I trust you two?”
“Because the werewolves are now free from the curse of the moon,” Scott answered. “Putting down your brother, my wife and I can convince my daughter to undo what she did with the moon.”
With Dan still around; Evelyn and Scott have come to one conclusion—that they will never recover their daughter.
Dean paused and thought to himself. His face flashed with a smile. “That could work but I have no intention of sparing your daughter,” he said. Glancing at Scott and Evelyn, he said plainly, “She has to die.”
“We won’t let you do that,” Scott lashed out. “She’s the key to undoing what she did or the werewolves will continue to have the upper hand over us. Unless you want them to win and keep winning!”
“Your daughter brought this on us!” Dean glared.
Scott leaned forward, gazing at Dean with sternness. “And she can undo it but first, we need to take out Dan.”
“Let’s say I agree to this. You know we will need a witch to locate my brother. So can you find us a witch?”
“You will have a coven, I assure you.”

Somewhere in Chicago.
“No sign of Kate, Rah!” Jude announces as he walks toward Rah. “She must have cloaked herself by a powerful witch.”
Rah and his coven haven’t given up their search for Kate. They are desperately looking for her and have continued to check back on her shop. The place looks deserted.
“We won’t leave Chicago until we find her,” Rah lashed out in frustration. “She must be punished for her hand in altering the curse of the moon.
“What do you advise we do?” Jude stared for a stern reply.
“I spoke with Scott a while ago,” Rah said. He lowered the bottle of beer on the table next to him and turned his focus on Jude. “We will help Dean find his brother. I believe finding Dan, will give us Kate. So, make the call. Ask some of our brothers to come over. We need the strength of the coven.”

University of Chicago.
Jasmine pulled out a tiny device from her pocket. The device continued to beep a red light. She handed it over to Lucy, saying, “Stash this on Mary.”
Lucy stared nervously at the device. “Is this a GPS?” she asked.
“Yes,” Jasmine smirked. “Do it and I will take care of the person she’s seeing and give your brother a chance with her.”
“I am scared.” She looks nervous. Still wonder why a stranger could want a GPS on Mary.
“It’s just a GPS. Not a bomb,” Jasmine said angrily. “I just need to track her. That’s all.”
Lucy lifted her head toward Jasmine. She’s still feeling nervous about the task at hand. “If I do this, how soon will you get rid of the person she’s seeing?”
“As soon as you stash it on her, I will get rid of the guy.”
Lucy swallowed a lump in her throat. Her eyes rolled with fear as her hands trembled. She has not done a thing like this. Breathing with a sigh, she agreed to do it.
Jasmine breaks into a sly smile. She brought her face closer to Lucy and stared her deep in the eyes. “You will forget who gave you this device and you will do as I have told you. Stash the device in your friend and forget my face.”
“I will do as you have said and I will forget your face,” Lucy responded as she was being remote. No idea she had just been compelled by a vampire. She turned and went on her way to do what she had been instructed to do. She headed straight to the coffee shop.
Jasmine watches as Lucy opens the glass door of the coffee shop. Her face lit with joy and relief. She is eager to nail Dan again like before and this time she’s doing it for the Late Mrs. Willie whom Dan killed like she was nobody.
