Chapter 104: 20 Years Later

The night weather wasn’t friendly. It was chilly and wet that a violent wind, swept the rain across the land. The thunder roared with a flash of forked lightning. The lightning and the thunder came close upon each other. The roaring of the thunder was so terrifying that everyone was locked inside their apartment except for Mary Anderson.

“Oh my God!” she screamed, seeing the lightning hit an electric pole ahead of her.

She ran across the other side of the road, drenched in the rain as the thunder roared once more and the lightning flashed across the sky. This isn’t one of her best moments. She stayed a bit longer in the coffee shop to get herself acquainted with the topics of today at school.

Severally, she had put a call to Dan but the reception was so bad that she couldn’t get hold of him after she called him to pick her up from the coffee shop.

As she ran across the other side of the street, she made her way to a barber’s shop to stay there until the rain stopped, but disappointedly, the shop was closed for the night.

“Fuck!” she exclaimed out of frustration, kicking against the wall.

She walked almost half a mile from the coffee shop. Good thing she knew the manager who advised her to leave her backpack. Although he insisted on her waiting for the rain to stop but she insisted on leaving under the rain.

Dan’s mansion is still some kilometers away and she isn’t giving up. She prefers his place to the Dorm.

All she could think of now is getting home and get warm in the arms of Dan. She never cared if her parents approved of her relation with Dan or not.

Suddenly, a light got her gazing. It was coming a black Lexus across the street. This is the first car she’s had seen since she got out from the coffee shop. She stopped and nervously watched the car.

The glasses are tinted, making it hard for her to see who the driver is. As she continued to stare thinking it could be Dan, she lifted her hands in the air and started waving and yelling.

The car pulled over across the street and has stayed there for some seconds as if the driver was waiting for someone.

The Lexus wheels rolled over the water. The windows rolled up, the driver changed its cause and drove through the next right turn.

“He’s coming for me,” she mumbled. Her eyes widened with excitement.

The Lexus had taken the next turn to get to her. But something isn’t right. The driver is running more than 60kmph toward her.

“What the hell?” she froze for a moment with a wide-eyed gaze.

Whoever it was in the car isn’t coming to help. It just became clear to her that the driver isn’t Dan when the black Lexus almost ran through her. She moved out of the way at the last minute.

She wasn’t sure what’s going on or why the driver wants to run her through. However, one thing is certain; no one could hear her screams. She could scream all she want but the continuous roaring of the thunder and the heavy rain will make it impossible for a soul to hear her.

Unable to make any sense about her current situation, the four doors of the Lexus car opened at once.

She peered with keenness to see to see the end of the situation. Her instincts keep telling her to run. She resisted her instincts and encouraged herself she could handle any trouble after her.

She watched as four hefty men stepped out of the Lexus car. Dressed in Mafia suits, their eyes glowed in the dark. Their eyes narrowed toward Mary and hardened into slits.

“Did Dan send you?!” Mary inquired. She can see through their soul to know they are werewolves, plus their eyes that continued to glow.

She got no answer from them.

Their silence terrified her. She swallowed a lump in her throat and queried further. “Why are you here? Did Dan send you to pick me?”

This time, what she got was more than she anticipated. Before her eyes, they shape shifted into their wolf forms. Their glowing eyes and sharp fangs and claws glistened in the dark. They propelled themselves into the air at once, aiming at pouncing on her.

Mary sprinted toward the dark alley and ran past the dumpster sitting in the front of the alley.

The werewolves turned toward the alley and locked onto their targets. They ran at a terrifying speed to catch up with her.

It’s now clear that Dan never sent these wolves. The next dumpster ahead of her at the end of the alley couldn’t stop her from fleeing. She hops across it with the help of her levitating power and continued to run for her life.

One of the werewolf lost control and rammed straight into the dumpster but the other three never stopped. They continued chasing after Mary, leaving their mate disoriented after crashing into the dumpster. He struggled to get back to his fee to join the chase. He breathed puff of cold air from his snots. Crashing through the dumpster only triggered his werewolf ire.

Mary slackened for a while to catch her breath. They were still after her. She placed her hand on a street light and pants heavily.

Their harsh pitched howl pierced deep into her ears, startling her into action. She flicked around and firing a beam of crackling energy streaks toward the creatures of the moon. On a hit, her targets take drastically damage as if they were stricken by lightning.

This is far from being over. The werewolf that crashed into a dumpster was nowhere to be found when she hit the rest with the eldritch blast of a gypsy. Before she could realize one of them wasn’t down, she was pounced on from behind.

Her eyes gleamed with horror as the werewolf buried his claws into her abdomen. Her limbs went limp. The night closed in on her forever.
