Chapter 13: A SOCIAL BUTTERFLY
Alonso
Their meal arrives and I take note of what Rosalia is eating. I give one look at it and my brain has no idea if I have ever seen it before. I store it somewhere in my brain to look up a meal that has all the things on her plate. As they dig into their meals, one of the other waitresses comes to me and when I tell her I’ll have their finest drink, she looks at me like I’ve grown a horn. Pardon me if I don’t know what to say, this is my first time dining at such a place.
I’m not hungry and not in a mood to try the meals they have- their is no menu by the way. The girls talk as they eat, laughing and slapping each other’s shoulders whenever they find something in their discussion. I don’t know what is being said due to the noise but I pay attention to them and to anyone who comes a metre close to where they are.
I also peer through the closest window to see what is going on outside. One thing I learnt from Don Dante is that the world is a mad place and you can never be too cautious. Never.
A drink is brought to me and I spend the next five minutes looking at the bottle and the ingredients labeled on the body. The waitress corks the screw loose and pours a small quantity in the shot cup available. I don’t touch that at all. I scroll on my phone for a while so no one will take note that I was watching the girls and since there is nothing much on the internet that has the outstanding ability to capture my attention, I resign myself to stalking Rosalia Aldo’s socials. And as I suspected, she is a social butterfly. A lot of things to discover, a lot of things to know about. One might be able to write a biography of her from her internet accounts.
I even get to see a picture of her when she was little. She did a transition kind of video where it shows when she was little- she was missing four front teeth. I smile. Her cheeks were so round and she was cute. The picture reminded me of that night when I first saw her. She looked free of life and the act of seriousness. She was just herself- fun and free. And she transitions into a full blown smoking hot woman. I save a video and then another and before I know it, I have a folder on my phone with all pictures and videos of her that I could find.
Oh this is bad.
By the time I am done because I am a voracious consumer of whatever it is that is Rosalia, the girls are done eating and that same woman had come to their table to collect their plates.
“How was your meal?” She asks. “Of course you know it was good. I enjoyed mine. Thanks a lot.” Rosalia said. Viviana nods as well. “There is no one else in this city that cooks like you. I think you have ruined our taste buds for anyone else. In the nicest way possible that is.”
The woman smiles, obviously pleased with their review. I almost snicker as I take one more look around. The food cannot be all that great here and if I ever have the chance even if anonymously, I will have them eat real good food.
“So…” the woman drawls, “how is your boyfriend Rosie?”
I blink once like something flew into my eyes. Nothing did. I had no idea Rosalia had a man in her life. I couldn’t find a trace of any man whom she is romantically involved with at the moment. I lean forward to catch Rosalia’s response. “I already explained to you Ma’am Greta. He isn’t my boyfriend. We have been broken up for two years now and he is just my friend. Just that once you saw him and yet you will never let me live it down. In the moment he is no longer in the country and last I heard, he has no idea if he is ever coming back. “ she explains.
I visibly sigh.
“That’s such a shame. The both of you looked perfect together.” The woman says regretfully. Yes, such a shame.
“But do not worry at all. There is someone else, I think he might be the next. I was just telling Viviana about him. Although I met him today but I’m beginning to imagine how cute his children will be.
And in the less than thirty minutes I spent with him, he was so nice a person. I think he might be the one.”
Viviana mockingly coughs. “Everyone is The One for you Rosalia. That’s the same thing you said about your ex-boyfriend.”
Thank you Viviana. At least someone has my back on that table.
