Chapter 169 Unplanned Surprise
Chapter 169 Unplanned Surprise
Lana's POV
Arden literally couldn't get enough of me when I got back. I was happy to see him but I wasn't really okay. I thought that I wanted this right now, but I feel two-minded and afraid. Maybe it was too soon, but yet it was a mistake and I begged for it, so it was my fault. I didn't do anything to stop it. I was sitting in the lounge and there were snacks on the table after I told Arden that I didn't want to go to the restaurant. Arden was now sitting across from me on the recliner and he was eating strawberries from a bowl that he held in his hand and talking to me, but I couldn't hear anything he said. It was like my mind blocked his voice out...it blocked everything out. He was smiling as he spoke and ate.
I was holding a pregnancy test in my hand, my hands were shaking. My heart was beating fast as I saw the answer...positive. I looked up at myself in the mirror, there was no Arden in front of me. I was looking at myself. I was going to be a mother. Arden and Doctor Conrad would kill me. I didn't listen because it was what I wanted.
"Lana?" I snapped out of my thoughts, and now I was back to my reality, looking at Arden, in our lounge. He looked at me with concern. "You look as if you have seen a ghost. Are you okay?" he asked.
I licked my lips from being dry. "I'm pregnant," I blurted out without hesitating. Arden's eyes were huge and then he narrowed his eyes in confusion.
"What?" he chuckled and then he composed himself when he saw that I was serious. "You're serious," he stated, and the blue in his eyes darkened as he held my gaze. He looked down at the bowl in his hands, his jaw clenching. I prepared myself for this. "I should've been safe with you." he got up from the recliner and placed the bowl on the coffee table with the rest of the snacks. He looked handsome in his black shirt that was tucked into his dress pants. He began to pace, running a hand through his hair and the other resting on his hip. "I should've bought condoms and be safe," he said as he walked towards the kitchen and I got up, following after him because I didn't want him to end up drinking.
He stopped in his tracks and I almost walked into him. "It was my fault. I wanted a baby," I said, and he turned around to look at me.
He shook his head. "Not like this, Lana. I wanted..." he looked as if he would cry or kill someone, "I wanted us to be safe, I wanted you to be fine before I made you pregnant." he said as the sadness and worry overtook the rage in his eyes.
"You refused to make me pregnant and then that evening you came home, you were drinking. You came inside of me." I closed my eyes at the memory of that day...the way that he f^cked me. I sucked in a breath as I felt his hand cup the side of my face, opening my eyes, his were glazed over. "I'm sorry. I...I shouldn't have gone to the bar and drank..." he shook his head and removed his hand. "I don't remember coming inside of you or if I hurt you again," he blew out a breath. "I'm worried," he looked at me.
"So am I. I'm sorry," I said. I didn't know what else to say.
"I'm the one that is sorry. I wish that you could've stopped me from coming inside of you." he said.
"I'm afraid."
He cupped the sides of my face with his hands and he held his gaze on me. "I'm afraid too, and I'm terribly worried. I do want this baby but I wished that the timing was right. Did you have any bleeding? When did you find out?" he asked.
"I didn't bleed at all and it is over a month. I found out yesterday after the call that we had. I was nauseous and I threw up. When you mentioned trying for a baby...that was when I realized that I could be. I bought a pregnancy test and it was positive," I let out a shaky breath.
"You do know that doctor Conrad will kill us," he said, but this time the corners of his mouth curled up into a smile.
"Yes," I smiled in return.
"We will get through this. I'm still afraid of losing you, so I will call Doctor Conrad to make an appointment on behalf of you. I don't want anything to happen to you and the baby, so this is our chance and whatever happens, I am here and we can only pray for the best. Just remember that I won't leave even if something happens, but I do not want to mention that either. I want to focus on being positive despite being worried. But doctor Conrad will advise us further if there are any complications. I just hope that everything runs smoothly." he let out a breath.
"Me too. I thought that you would be angry with me," I replied.
"I am angry with myself. I know that in the past I didn't handle things in the correct way, but this time, I do want this with you. I can never be angry about something that I did and I do find this to be a blessing. I just want you and the baby to be healthy," he said as he moved one hand away from my face and he placed his hand on my flat belly. "Everything will work out," he looked at me with love and adoration amidst the worry.
He wrapped his arms around me, holding me tight against him. He placed a kiss on the top of my head. Arden was my strength in this moment for this next journey together. If he says that everything will work out. I have to believe that.
